Daniel and Nathalie have made a lovely, warm and welcoming Chambre d'hote. They have paid a lot of attention to the detail from the tea and coffee making facilities in the bedrooms, to the free wi-fi.
Located close to Montmorillon it provides a great base to explore the local area and Nathalie, who speaks perfect English is always on hand to provide information and leaflets on things to do, places to go and restaurants to sample!
The property had been renovated and enlarged over a period of time with the majority of the work being undertaken by Daniel - who also makes wonderful jam! The bedrooms are pretty, with great en suite showers.
The breakfasts are lovely with fresh French bread, lovely jams, yoghurts and lots of tea and coffee.
I would highly recommend it!

After staying in various small hotels during the month we spent in france, Daniel and Nathalie's was so relaxing. They put a tremendous amount of effort into the place and it shows, in every little detail. Montmorillon is in a beautiful part of the country. No matter what direction you set off from Les Chambres de la Loge, you will find incredible scenery and no end of good places to eat. Incidentally, breakfast as prepared by either Nathalie or Daniel is fantastic. A perfect start to a perfect day. If you are a painter or a photographer this is the place to stay and explore the surrounding countryside.

I stayed for two nights at La Loge Monteil in June 2009 and it was absolutely perfect. The room was spotless, comfortable and the price was reasonable. However, what made it special was the hospitality shown by Nathalie and Daniel. My French is pretty basic, but I shouldn't have worried, Nathalie speaks perect english - better than some english people ! However it was nice to speak some french on my second day and get gently guided when I went wrong. Excellent location, great breakfast, lovely hosts.

Our room was spacious, spotless and beautifully appointed. Nathalie is a clever decorator and the decor is fresh and modern. The large bathroom had both a bath and a walk-in shower which is unusual but very welcome. We slept well in a very comfortable bed and it is one of the quietest places I have ever stayed. Outside there are extensive gardens and I spent some time watching the birds using the birdbath. Breakfast was very good, with a coupe of fresh fruit, yoghurt and yummy bread and homemade jams. Nathalie and Daniel are great hosts and we felt like old friends by the time we left. A lovely place to stay.

Wow what a place! After a long drive from Calais, ahead of a busy wedding bank holiday, we stayed away from the wedding party at this spotted gite, walking distance from Montmorrillon. What a find! Nathalie you are great, thanks to you and Daniel for hosting us. We loved the separate personal courtyards to each room, we loved the gardens and the homemade breakfasts each day. Just brilliant. I would strongly recommend. We met lovely people whilst at breakfast each morning, sat out in what was actually extreme heat but on the shaded veranda. We would love to come back! This is a must if you want to see this lovely medieval town and would like to have your own space just outside of the town centre but walkable.

Natalie and Daniel make you feel welcome from the moment you arrive. Friendly couple who have obviously worked very hard to convert the original house into fantastic themed rooms. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Montmorillon, although fairly quite this time of year is a very pretty medieval town on the Gar temps. Some nice restaurants. Breakfast each morning was sensational and produced from most of their own produce, followed by great conversation and fun as they shared their time with us, mainly in French. Natalie speaks perfect English and Daniel isn't bad either. We spoke french or tried most of the time and they helped us out a great deal. I would certainly recommend les Chambres de la Lodge. 5 ***** perfect! Clean, great beds, great food, what more can you ask for? Walking distance into town. Great place to stop off if you're driving through France and heading South. We will certainly be back to see them as we feel they are now our lovely French friends. Thanks. xx

A delightful room in a farmhouse on the outskirts of Montmorillon . Cosy and comfortable and prettily decorated with a little kitchenette, its own entrance and parking at the door. Perfect for travellers. Nathalie and Daniel are warm, gracious hosts. Breakfast is wonderful - great conversation over a breakfast of delicious fresh foods and preserves from their own orchard. For us Montmorillon and les Chambres de la Loge made a really enjoyable stop-over on our journey south.

We stayed with Nathalie and Daniel for only a few days whilst on a house viewing visit but would have loved to have stayed longer. We arrived a lot later than expected and Nathalie was waiting to show us our room and was kind enough to drive us into the town for something to eat and explained the best way to walk home. The next morning we had a chance to look round the beautiful gardens where they have their own fruit trees, bees, vegetable and fruit plot and beautiful views. The breakfast was beautifully presented and it was lovely to know that the jams and honey were from their own garden.
It was like staying with friends with Nathalie sitting and chatting to us over breakfast and Daniel answering our questions about different decorating ideas they had used (we had lots of questions about different techniques Daniel had used as we were hoping to steal his ideas for our new home in France!!).
Our room was lovely with everything you could possibly need and all decorated to a high standard.
Definitely a place we would go back to and somewhere we would recommend highly to anyone wanting to experience the real France.
Thanks Nathalie and Daniel.

The house is beautifully set in the countryside, close to Montmorillon, which offers a good choice of restaurants.
The owners are very welcoming, and the room was perfect: little kitchenette, TV, and everything you need. The breakfast was gorgeous too, and it was a pleasure to speak with other guests, and the owners. The atmosphere was lovely!

Hello ! Sorry for this late answer, I haven't forgotten you though. It was quite a funny coincidence that the other guest that morning was also a french" expat" ! I'm glad you enjoyed your stay with us and I hope you had a good time at La Rochelle after Montmorillon. Hope to welcome you another time if you happen to come again for work in the area. Best wishes

We stayed with Nathalie and Daniel just before Christmas 2013 - we feel very lucky to have found such wonderful accommodation.

Nathalie and Daniel are lovely, kind hosts who have a beautiful and very comfortable home (not forgetting Clapton and Sweet the two cats!)

Great traditional French breakfasts with home made cakes and jam - lovely warm rooms tastefully decorated.

A perfect place for a relaxing break - enjoy!
