We spent two nights at the Chateau and were very pleased with our choice. Good value and interesting surroundings. Excellent restaurants nearby. Our only advice would be for breakfast to be served a little earlier than 8.30 for those needing an early start

We stayed for one night with our 2 year old daughter in the characterful Marie Antoinette room. The chateau has been lovingly restored by its owners over the last number of years and it is a credit to their hard work and dedication. The owner responded quickly to our request for a quiet room - when we got there, it...

We stayed for just one night. The building is just stunning and has loads of character. Our room had a very high ceiling which helped keep us cool....there is no air con. The bathroom facilities were good but don't expect four star hotel designer bathrooms. We also had a kitchen which was useful. Everything was clean and spotless. The building...

The Chateau d'Avanton is a wonderfully old, lovingly restored Chateau and it was really fun to explore this unique place. Thankfully it is really easy to find behind the church in the small village of Avanton. There is ample free space for parking and one can drive right up to the massive front door to unload the car. In our...

We stayed one night in this stunning French chateau en route to the South of France. It is a great half-way point between Calais & Languedoc. The Chateau is simply stunning and our room, the Donjon suite, was situated in the very top turrets of the castle. It came complete with lounge, small kitchen, bathroom and stunning bedroom at the...

We stayed here at the end of a long drive from Central Spain, on-route to our home in the UK. On arrival, we were greeted by the owner, Viviane, who conducted us to our room, Le Mazarin. Apart from the initial wow factor of seeing how much stone had gone into one building, the next very pleasant surprise was that...

Also 12th century church right in front of chateaux. Chateaux manager was very friendly and hospitable. After doing a 10 day roaming trip through south west of france this has to...

We stayed for one night in this beautiful chateau as we were driving from Sarlat to Cherbourg. We would recommend it as it is convenient for the motorway and Futuroscope. I wouldn't want to cook a large meal in the kitchen but it would be fine for the basics. The owner was very pleasant and helpful. Breakfast was good. We...

“Book the Donjon suite - situated in the turrets of the chateau - the views are breath taking (although not recommended if you're unable to climb several staircases).”

“The chateau is like the equivalent of an English manor house, so when you reach the village of Avanton, look for the church (easy) drive behind it and there's Le Chateau. (It seems the French medieval rich folks always put themselves as close to the local church as possible, just as in most English villages. So much for having very little in common with each other then!”
