I have delayed writing a review of our return visit to Chateau de Sarceaux to provide a perspective but some weeks later I still think it was fabulous. In a review last year I noted the special armosphere, warm welcome and lavish hospitality. This time we experienced two different settings. One evening we were part of an eight people dinner... Many thanks to Jacqueline who went the extra mile on a miserable Monday night to make our stay a pleasure. Beautiful location in parkland with winding drive up to the chateau (watch out for deer), tranquil and restful. Never realised you were a Marquise!

Our stop here was one of those life experiences that exceed expectations. We found the Chateau easily with satnav help but it is off the beaten track a bit. The house the rooms the grounds the bedroom all steeped in the family history were a real pleasure and our hosts where so nice and friendly it made our stay for... More

As you walk through the rooms you will be swimming in the 19th century surrounded by the warmth of the hostess who thought of every detail to make your stay special. Superb spacious rooms are difficult to leave, but the special treat is to sip tea in the salon next to a fireplace.

a direct drive to Alencçon. There were some diversion but we reached the Chateau de Sarceaux around 6.15pm. It was up a long drive, and we were greeted by a lady who said 'Welcome, I'm Jacqueline'. What we didn't know then was that she was the Marchioness Gicquel des Touches. She was a very friendly lady, told us quickly was... More

We stayed with our family and their 2 young children and had a thoroughly enjoyable evening stay here. As we were a family we opted for 2 rooms in the stables accommodation which was spacious and well appointed. The Chateau is beautifully appointed with so many family treasures and object d'art from its former times as a hunting lodge. Afternoon... More

Like many other reviewers I hesitate to post this review, as Chateau de Sarceaux is wonderful and Hervé and Jacqueline, Marquis and Marquise Gicquel des Touches are the perfect hosts, so there is a danger that it will become more difficult to reserve a future room in this 18th Century hunting lodge. It must be realised that this small chateau... More

Brilliant overnight stay in beautiful, well cared for accommodation with stunning decor, furniture and other antiques. The host and hostess made our short stay highly memorable, providing excellent company and food. Other visitors have described how good this is but somehow the words do not do them or their wonderful home enough justice. Even their little dog exudes an air... More

We were very very lucky, calling early one evening in August to find there was a late cancellation as long as we could be there in time for the aperitif. There's nothing like an incentive to focus the mind. Quite a miserable evening weather-wise but we were met with genuine warmth from The Marquis himself. Our room in the stable... More

This is a review of two halves. We stayed twice here, once on the way and once on the return, with our two young children. First stay was excellent. The grounds are lovely, and it's fun (albeit a little tense with two young children) to have breakfast in the main dining room. We stayed in the Maison d'Ecouves, which is... More
