What a fabulous place - real luxury with delicious breakfast and stunning views. Phil and Sophie are the perfect hosts. The area is so different to anything we had seen before - so beautiful and fantastic walking. We enjoyed walking down to the beach in the evening, as well as a fabulous walk from Stoer lighthouse - stunning views. Would highly recommend for those wanting to experience Assynt in all its glory!
Lovely simple B&B, rooms clean and quiet and ample for a few nights stay. Breakfasts lovely and the hosts are lovely friendly people, happy to chat and give advice on what to see and do. It’s a little off the beaten track but that’s why we booked it to get away from the holiday traffic. Make sure you have a place to eat booked before arriving as it might prove difficult to just turn up somewhere and expect a table, especially in the summer months. Walks from the door and hardly for the Stoer lighthouse road.
Sophie and Philip are charming, welcoming, and a mine of information. The accommodation is more than adequate, well-appointed (but see below), and has enthralling views. Bear in mind that access is along around 9 miles of narrow road with drops and/or rocky walls and passing places. I’m OK with this, but my wife would not enthuse if driving. Restaurants in Lochinver, but book in advance. We loved Delilah’s, but it is deservedly popular, and those not booking were being turned away while we were there (May 2022). Read the ‘small print’ at Philosophy - no television and no WiFi. Internet signal faint and intermittent. We are ok with this, but some would definitely not be. If you want a simple, quiet place, with great rural views, and super hosts, this is for you.
Very well appointed, spotlessly clean, and very well run. The owners are the perfect hosts, and really have created a special place. The attention to detail by the hosts is obvious in all aspects of the accommodation. The breakfast uses the best of local ingredients, and is served in very nice surroundings. The home made chocolates are a very nice touch!
Very lovely rooms and super friendly owners. We had a great time here and enjoyed every day. It is a great spot to have hikes around the highlands. The rooms are clean and modern. We can absolutely recommend it.
I stayed two nights in mid August 2019. Delightful room. Very helpful advice about the region and local restaurants. Responsive, interesting and thoughtful hosts. Just perfect! And breakfast? Lots if variety was available, but Sophie and Phil were also very flexible about my more simple wants.
We stayed here just one night but wished it were more. The room and bathroom were impeccably furnished, and the beds very comfortable. Sophie and Philip were wonderful hosts and made us and our dog very welcome. Breakfast was delicious, and we took home some of the chocolate goodies Sophie had made in her chocolate cafe on-site. Highly recommended.
We recently popped into the cafe on our way back from walking to The Old Man of Stoer. This place is beautifully presented and the owners very welcoming. Along with the tea/coffee we had a slice of delicious chocolate cake - very light and not too sweet. Would highly recommend if you are passing!!
We LOVED this B&B. The hosts were lovely and so was the room. It was spotlessly clean, super cosy, comfy and is in a beautiful corner of the world. Breakfast was very very good too! Stoer Lighthouse, just up the road from Philosophy, was a magical spot for an evening picnic with a view!! Sophie's chocolate cake is so so so good! I took a slice home for my Dad, which Sophie packaged beautifully, but my Mum (who is on a diet!) ate the whole thing before he got a look in! :o It was delicious! Definitely wins the cutest coffee shop award too! Thank you Phil and Sophie for a lovely lovely 24 hour hide-out on The West Coast x
This a real get away from it all place. So quiet and the room was nicely decorated in the colours of the highlands; grey, mauve, green. The chickens wandering around the gardens are sweet (they make such lovely noises) and the local sheep and cattle, plus the stunning views make this a enchanting location. Friendly welcome from Sophy who showed us to our room, gave us the tour and chatted to us at breakfast about the B&B, the local area and restaurants. Comfortable nights sleep and it is so quiet; nice bathroom, if staying longer than a couple of nights would probably want a bit more room / storage, but for a short stay it was a wonderful location. Breakfast was nicely laid out and a good selection that you ordered the night before, service and presentation was good. Be prepared to drive for dinner but in this location and with these views and sunsets, that's not a problem at all.…
