Travelers' Choice
Thobolo's Bush Lodge and Campsite is perfectly situated allowing for easy day game drives into Savuti, Linyanti and the top end of the Chobe National Park river frontage. We are located at the largest natural pan in the entire Northwestern region - Barangwe Pan. Both the Lodge and the Campsite are totally off the grid operating 100% on solar. Our solar powered boreholes keep the pans full throughout the year providing us with an abundance of wildlife. Thobolo's (Setswana for Gunn) Bush Lodge is owned by Mike Gunn, who built and operated Gunns Camp in the Delta for 20+ years.

We spent three delightful nights here, and it was terrific. The lodge is top notch and is teeming with wildlife. Everything about Thobolo is Eco and fits into the surroundings. It is a great place to relax and enjoy the beauty of wildlife. The staff was outstanding, and Mike and Di are super hosts. I would highly recommend Thobolo to anyone wanting a unique African experience. I definitely plan to return.

We arrived at Thobolo with Mike and Di...we had been following the progress of the camp for over 4 years...due to many factors we had finally made it!! What a gem...teeming with game...The fact that it has the highest green rating in Botswana adds to the ambiance...no noise...You can hear the animals at night... An incredibly refreshing trip. Teeming with game. Staff first class...food five star...company of Mike and Di 6 star. I can only recommend this beautiful unspoiled spot to those looking for a unique experience... The decor goes beautifully with the theme and you feel at home.

We stayed in the camping on an amazing campside under a big tree with really cleaned and modern ablution bloc. We had full access to the lounge/bar area with fans and cold drinks, after few days in public campings in Moremi Park, Kwai and Savuti this was more than welcome. We had a dinner cooked by the chef (Botswana beef filet ... the best we tried!) with a view on the waterhole where we were privileged enough to see plenty of elephant families visiting, wild dogs, giraffes etc. This place is one of the highlight of our 20days trips camping in Botswana and Namibia, there is everything to rest and enjoy Botswana beauty after a long day driving into the heat. The owners are lovely, sharing their experience and doing their best to make you feel privileged and like at home - we even had a private game tour at the twilight with Mike to see the wild dogs!- We highly recommend you to stop by this beauty lost in the desert, you will love it! Thanks again for everything, Marine&Peter

Passing through on our way from Savuti Ngoma Gate we had a short stop at the lodge. What we have seen during our short visit was enough to convince us of the quality's of the location. Staff was very friendly and helpfull. Views are great and the view at the lighted waterhole at night must be stunning. You can stay wether at the lodge or at the campsite. We will be back some day.

Nice place to stay for one night, or when want to relax for a few nights. We stayed at the camping and anticipated the elephants to come through the camp, but they decided another route. Campsite is not very shaded, but facilites are very good.
