It is not so easy to get to Baasbari Farm and it takes a 4-wheel drive for the last bit of road that goes to the farm. They are happy to come and pick you up on the main road and give you a place to park your car if you are driving. It also a pleasant short walk. On arrival, the kitchen and a small dining area are seen first and the food prepared there is amazing - especially iskus momos with a spicy dipping sauce. Most food is fresh from the organic garden at the farm - there is no menu, most food is made from the garden vegetables. There are two spacious tent rooms, one with a double bed and one with twin beds, and there is a deluxe bamboo cottage. The tents, set on bamboo platforms, are not roughing it - inside is a comfortable bed in a large space with an attached bathroom. The wake-up call is from a variety of birds that live in the bamboo and trees surrounding the rooms. We only had one night there and couldn't go for a hike or fishing in the river, but they will arrange things to do. It is definitely for people that enjoy being out of doors and like an adventure. I give it a full rating because of their support in the community and their eco-friendly style - no plastic water bottles here so bring your recyclable water bottles. If you need WiFi here they have a remote device you can connect to.

Just 1.5hrs from the crowded Darjeeling hill station, this is a nice and cozy property located in the valley of Bijanbari. They have one cottage which is on stilts and 2 Swiss tents. The cottage is huge, luxurious and has a balcony with awesome views. Attached washroom has all the required modern fittings. Few more cottages are on the planning stage. The property is quite big and is a heaven for birdwatchers. They have organic farm and on-site solid-waste management system ensuring a minimal carbon footprint. We just loved the food out there. They even served us momos on special request. Manager Dipesh Pradhan and other staffs are very helpful and are always ready to take the guests for a tour in their property. They arrange for other local sightseeing also. One can reach this place via Siliguri and Ghoom. Since it's a valley summers will be quite warm here but they have fans to combat that. Winter evenings will be chilling and one can ask for a bonfire. Airtel, Vodafone and Jio connections work quite well here.

A must visit place for romantic couples, nature lovers, writers, bloggers and peace seekers. This place is out of this world! It’s been almost a month since we stayed there, and still cherishing every moment of it. The sounds of river flowing, birds chirping, bamboo leaves rustling, rain falling....aaah! Can’t get over it. And above all is the genuine hospitality of the manager/owner Dipesh and the “all-rounder” Govind. Govind himself can make your stay a worthwhile and memorable one. He is a true champion who can do any means to exceed your expectation. I can’t miss another person. Gita bhabi, who will cook awesome Nepali dishes for you with varieties of pickles. There is so much more I can write about this place...but that’s it here. You will explore the rest, when you are there.

Away from the chaos of the town.this farm is an hours drive from Darjeeling lower in the valleys at this beautiful village bijanbari.expect a warmer temperature and lower hill ranges.the farm is intellectually designed with the concept of Bamboos.well structured units with all necessary amenities.there is also an outdoor eating area with a kitchen.they use fresh farm produces for their local cuisines..and we enjoyed every bit of the Nepali thaali. The location might not be the most convenient for weak legs but places you reach easy don’t serve great views.this place is at an elevated location and gives wonderful views of the hills and the river.its great to wake up to a east facing room with the sound of birds and the river.great hospitality by Govind who was always up to serve his guests(he also sings really good lol).so if u really looking for some Shanti time amidst beautiful nature.,baasbari will not disappoint you.and lots of luck to the host Deepesh for bringing up a thought to life.
