Great View Guesthouse is a home-stay guesthouse near Akureyri in North Iceland. It is surrounded by beautiful landscapes. It is conveniently located for travellers who wish to explore North Iceland. There is an abundance of activities available in the area and Akureyri, the largest town in North Iceland, is located only 9 km away. The guesthouse can accommodate 9 persons and has three double rooms and one triple room. All guests have access to a kitchen and two shared bathrooms. The house has a hot tub on one of the terraces that all guests have access to. We highly recommend relaxing in the hot tub while enjoying the midnight sun during summer and go star-gazing during winter. You might even catch the northern lights.

First of all, this place doesn't even look like a hotel, it looks & feels like home. The place is keenly decorated with beautiful artefacts & each corner is picture perfect, on top of that the surrounding view is stunning. The hosts are super friendly, he even took out his time to help us on next day drive plan with map. The complimentary breakfast was good as well. The added bonus was the hot-tub, its a perfect way to deal with the chills & relax. At this price you cannot gt a better deal!

Thora and Ivar are a wonderful couple: warm and friendly, extremely helpful, and beyond gracious. Their place is magnificent. Any room would have been great; we were especially thrilled to stay in room 4, which at one time apparently served as the master bedroom. The view of the surrounding countryside is breath-taking. The breakfast is outstanding. One morning Ivar even fried bacon to go with the eggs, toast/bread, deli meats, cheeses, and variety of fresh fruits and cereals, jams/butter/hazelnut spread/syrup/etc., coffee/juice/tea/milk, and sweet treat (cake or cookies or pie) that Thora prepares every morning!! We stayed an entire week, so we got to have wonderful breakfast conversations with other guests from Spain, Italy, Hong Kong, and Germany as well as our endearing Icelandic hosts. When one of us (this is Jen Doty, the wife, typing, and it was me!) got us into a spot of trouble, Ivar and Thora went way above and beyond the call of duty and rescued us. We are eternally grateful. Last thing: the hottub. The hottub is so relaxing in part because of the awe-inspiring views of the surrounding mountains and valley. To use it, check it yourself to see if it has already been filled with hot water; if not, ask and they will fill it up for you! (If it gets a bit too hot for your liking, just add cold water from the garden hose right next to the tub....easy and kind of fun!) We are already talking about coming back next year. 😁

First of all, the house itself is fantastic,a family home where the owner has a certain feng-shui thing going on in there.. asian and european influences mixted in an original fashion (one might think it could be a bit to much though). Loooooved the bathroom. Secondly...the host.. always smiling, positive attitude, cheerful, beautiful. Then, the location.. might be a wee trivky to find at first, but the view is well worth the trip outside of town. Last, but not least, the breakfast was outstanding! Thank you, Thora!
