Grupotel Mar de Menorca is often praised for its spacious, well-equipped rooms, yet some guests suggest the decor could use rejuvenation. The secluded location is a double-edged sword; it's tranquil with a nearby cove, but limited local activities lead many to recommend renting a car. While reviews on value are polarized, cleanliness generally receives acclaim, with a few exceptions noted around the pool.
The hotel's amenities, including kitchenette-equipped rooms, pools, and shops, are popular, as is the relaxed atmosphere and entertainment, despite some areas needing a refresh. Service is typically commended, though there are occasional reports of inconsistency.

I made the mistake of assuming the TUI rating of a 4 * was correct however this is an official 3* hotel that I would never normally book less than 4*. Overall I would say the hotel is definitely on its way to being more of a 4* but a couple of things remind you it’s 3*. No concierge/Porter so be aware that you have to transport your own luggage to your room, and they are 3 story apartments!
Cleanliness - is ok, rooms cleaned to a good standard, outside pool areas at times neglected with left over drinks and plates etc, it looks like they hose down around the pool but don’t sweep.
Food - plenty of choice but as with most AI you get fed up as the week goes on. There is a snack bar which does the usual burgers and toasties,
today I asked for a cheese and tomatoes toastie but was told I could only have cheese as that was the offer, even though the sliced tomato was there in front of the server, puzzled by her response, I again asked for just one slice of tomato and was declined as the tomato is only for those who want it on their burgers!! A little pedantic given that each meal time there is always a bowl full of tomatoes!! The only option I was offered was to have ham and cheese but I don’t like ham…..not sure if just a jobsworth but don’t think it would have harmed the hotel to plonk a slice of tomato on.
Location - very little to do but as other guests have suggested there is a small beach cove about 5 minute walk away but down steep steps and climbing over a few rocks. We knew that it was going to be quiet before we came so this didn’t bother us.
A couple of other things worth a mention, you only get one bottle of water on the day of arrival. Beach towels are also allocated upon request but if you want them
Changing, you have to pay.
Drinks aren’t great, I preferred the non alcoholic cocktails as the spirits have a strange taste.
There are many flies! Also lots of mosquitos around so make sure you’ve got some repellent.
Staff were neither friendly or unfriendly.
Finally, if you want some peace and quiet and away from the flies, head to the roof top terrace of the hotel, we had it to ourselves most days and barring the odd annoying wasp it was very tranquil.

This hotel is lovely, rooms were clean and look fresh and modern, beds weren’t very comfortable but for a week I could deal with that. We requested a ground floor room as we were aware there was no lift to rooms and we received our request!
Pools were lovely we spent all of our time near the splash and the larger pool but there is a quieter pool which is further up. Life guards around the pool which made it feel safer. Plenty of sunbeds free and some stacked up. If you’re not happy with the fact kids will be screaming and playing then this simply isn’t the hotel for you and I’d advise you to book an adult only hotel as 90% of the people here are families with young children having a good time.
Food was as I expected for an all inclusive, plenty of choice from fish to meat none of us went hungry and my partner is relatively fussy. Snack bar was fine, plenty of drink choices at the bar and cocktails were included in the all inclusive which was great.
The entertainer for the kids was great. My boy loved it, the music wasn’t English but all the kids got up at the disco and danced around copying his dancing, I can’t see why there would be complaints about him as he is 1 man doing his job and I didn’t see any children not smiling when he was dancing.
Nothing around except the beach cove and a bus to Mahon 4 times a day but we knew this from checking the reviews before we booked and checking the location of the hotel. We were fine with this with having a 4 year old and a 1 year old we didn’t really intend on doing much, although it rained and was heavy winds the last 3 days of our holiday so I do wish we’d considered that factor. There was a zoo nearby which we didn’t go to but that was also an option as it was very close in a taxi. This hotel was advertised as having a kids club and there wasn’t one I can only assume this is down to covid or maybe because it isn’t the summer holidays but this was a bit of a let down. There was also supposed to be a soft play near the gym which I can only assume was taken away due to covid but it would have been nice for TUI to have updated this on their website so we were aware of it.
Overall this hotel is lovely and for a 3 star I think it was great, the staff are very nice and the entertainment was adequate. If you don’t want noise and children playing then I wouldn’t go to a family friendly hotel, maybe an adult only would be more satisfactory.

Had a great stay. Hotel very clean, lots of sunbeds and no towels out! Really good pools especially for children . Food was very good with plenty of choice. ALL staff were lovely and very helpful. Animation team were fantastic. We especially enjoyed the sax player and Abba tribute. In very quiet location with nowhere to walk to but we knew that before we booked and it was what we wanted. Bus stop right outside hotel with punctual service. Bottled water and ice cream not available on AL but you could get ice cream in the dining room. Used the snack bar several times and this was also good. Welcome pack includes washing up liquid, tea towel and pan scrub. Please ignore the negative reviews.

My expectations of the holiday were not too high being a family resort, but this was on a whole different level. The reception staff were really rude and got irritated that we asked to move rooms the following day as I have a disability (which we disclosed to Tui when we booked). They also told us that there is a charge for clean pool towels but the Tui rep told us that this was not a charge, but a voluntary donation. This was after we had paid the “charge” a few times and when I reiterated what I had been told by Tui, the gentleman on reception tried to argue with me. I found that customers behind me would take priority when I’m reception and I was ready to go home after 3 days.
The food is the same everyday and it’s not very fresh or healthy. The staff in the restaurant are friendly and very efficient with collecting plates and clearing tables. The entertainment is quite tedious but this is run by some lovely people so makes up a bit for some of the problems.
Rooms are old and in need of a lot of TLC. We got back to our room one day and there was the smell of sewage and when I called reception they were not surprised, so obviously knew it was an ongoing issue. Beds were not very comfortable, especially the “sofa bed” in the living area. My daughter couldn’t sleep on it so my husband kindly volunteered to sleep there. The cleaning staff that do the rooms only make the beds and if there are any dirty glasses or plates they are not swapped for new ones so we ended up having to buy cleaning products.
Very disappointing and would not recommend.

We came here for a family break to escape the school holidays. We knew due to COVID the experience would be different and accepted that however I won’t be returning to this hotel. I was fully aware this was a 3 star hotel and knew their would be a lower standard.
The hotel has around 10 blocks dotted around its site there are no lifts and some have three floors. You have to carry your suitcases up the stairs and travelling with older family members made this very hard as they were not able to lift themselves this far. The hotel has a small fence around some of the site but in the main it’s open and accessible to public which made me feel unsafe at times. The reception staff are rude and unhelpful. The rooms are big but very dated, furniture is broken. The showers are like ice rinks both my daughters fell before asking for slip matts.
The soft drinks and beer are flat. The bar staff told us they are being told to push the stock they had out. Both my husband and friend were sick when we told the hotel they shrugged their shoulders. The drinks were so flat we ended up buying drinks and snacks from the shop on site.
You have to pay for a clean towel despite being all inclusive.
The food hall is full of flys infact there are flys everywhere inside. My children kept trying to swot them. The flys are sitting on the buffet food constantly.
The food is very much the same and if lunch food is left , it’s clearly being warmed up again and put out for dinner.
Two people left durning our time here as they felt the hotel was so bad.
There was glass by poolside, we reported it to lifeguards and reception but nothing was done and there has since been a stream of children having glass plucked out their feet by lifeguards.
The bar staff are also very unfriendly. Your made to feel like it’s an effort to pour a drink. It was uncomfortable on a lot of occasions and again we solved this by buying drinks and snacks outside.
Finally if you leave the hotel your very unlikely to get a taxi back. We waited 6 hours to get a taxi back to the hotel. We were told only 135 taxis serve the island and half sit at the airport.
Really do re think this hotel choice, hopefully it will improve post COVID but for now it’s really extremely poor and unsafe.

Just arrived home after spending a week at the Grupotel Mar de Menorca with my family, what a great hotel this is. Upon arrival our rooms weren’t ready but there was a room for us to leave our cases and we were able to use the facilities straight away. The hotel was spotless and smelt lovely. We made our way outside and sat near the bar by the pool. The pool area was really nice but after sitting there a while we noticed quite a few wasps, we went to the shop down the steps and bought some citronella candles and spray and this seemed to work to keep them away. We had a few drinks at the bar then went to the restaurant for some lunch. The restaurant was really clean, there was a really good variety of food both hot and cold which was delicious. After lunch our rooms were ready they were really nice and accessible for my dad who was in a wheelchair, they were well equipped with a hob microwave kettle fridge pots pans cutlery cups and plates, there’s a hairdryer in the bathroom and a large walk in shower. A tv in the lounge area and bedroom.
The bar has a really good selection of all inclusive drinks including cocktails wine beer and every spirit you can think of, non alcoholic beverages were also available as well as hot drinks. Round the corner from the bar was a snack bar which was open nearly all day this had a good selection of salads and cold food as well as hot food cooked to order.
The food in the restaurant was excellent always a really good selection of meat that was cooked really well. There is also a vegetarian section and gluten free section and every type of milk, cows, soya, almond, oat the list is endless. Deserts and fruit are plentiful to.
The staff at this hotel are really lovely and friendly. I would definitely recommend this hotel.
The only negative is that there is nothing around the hotel, no other bars or restaurants but if you want a relaxing time and don’t want to go far it’s perfect. We will definitely be returning.

We traveled with family and our grandchildren on an all inclusive basis and had 2 rooms side by side, which had all we needed and were well looked after. The hotel is perfect for families and couples and is well spread out
It is situated within easy walking distance to a secluded cove where there are water sports and swimming available and a cafe. There is a bus stop opposite the hotel which runs to Mahon bus station every few hours.
Mahon is well worth visiting, it’s a lovely city to walk around and has a large port where boat trips are available and plenty of restaurants and bars.
The hotel was clean and spacious and had lots of amenities including curtesy rooms, a baby room, laundry, sports facilities and large pool area with plenty of sun loungers and shades. There are 2 large adult pools and 2 smaller children’s play pools all of which were very clean and safe. There is also a play park and pool area with 4 pool tables.
The food was really good and plentiful and there was always something enjoyable to eat, it’s a buffet style menu which caters for everyone, including gluten free which was a surprise. We could not fault the food and found the staff very helpful and cheerful especially when it came to the children, there are high chairs available and plenty of family tables to sit at.
With children’s and adult entertainment in the afternoon and evening, we were very happy with our stay and would return again.
Thank you to all who made our holiday enjoyable.

We just got back from a week's family holiday stopping at Mar De Menorca and definitely say I will be going again.
The rooms are in great condition with everything you need, the rooms were cleaned and beds made everyday without fail.
The hotel has the option of 3 pools (not sure why people saying only one pool onsite). You have the choice of the main pool which is more than big enough, part of this pool is sectioned off for the younger ones and the entertainment team do kids activities in here. There is also a kids pool that has the slides and fun activities. Lastly there is another pool medium sized I would assume for anybody wanting a more relaxed experience as yes the main audience of the hotel is for families. The entertainment team also do activities for adults in the pool being aquafit volleyball and water polo.
Being all inclusive we never had to go far for food or drinks. They have a massive variety to cater for everybody. I would recommend all inclusive not just for the value but also there isn't much near the hotel and is no where near as commercialised as Majorca or Ibiza.

Seen some really bad reviews on here so I wanted to leave one, the hotel is absolutely fine. It’s really remote so wouldn’t recommend to someone who’s wanting to travel around lots. We went to the cove bar which was amazing, hotel ordered us a taxi and gave us number for one to come back, it was €15-20 each way but well worth it and 20 min drive. There are other excursions available and a bus stop outside the hotel.
Good points:
The food is really nice, bit repetitive, each night there is veg, a type of paella, potatoes, some type of side, fish and then each night they’ll mix something up, e.g lamb stew, duck, pork etc. lots of desserts each night.
All the staff were very polite and smiley, although entertainment was limited at night there’s still something to enjoy. Not sure for kids as we went 3 adults.
We told the staff we didn’t need our room cleaned but they would do it anyway, we got fresh towels every day for our room, beds made and bathroom cleaned which was nice
big and clean pools, one giant pool with a kids area and another quieter pool up the top.
Close to a cove with a beach which was lovely and quiet
Transfer is about 15 mins
Bad points:
Absolutely loads of wasps, I’m terrified of wasps but these kind do just leave you alone, you can swat them away and they don’t get aggressive you soon get used to them, we just avoided drinks by the pool to keep them away
lots of flies all round the pool and unfortunately by the food inside the restaurant.
Didn’t bother with the snack bar it seemed a bit basic
Overall would come again, lovely and quiet and we had no issues, good value for money

We arrived early and so our room wasn't ready. We were given the use of a courtesy room so that we could get changed if needed and we were immediately given wristbands so that we could use all of the all inclusive facilities. There was also another room to store our luggage . The reception staff were very friendly and we were told that we would get a call when our room was ready. When we still hadn't heard anything by 3.00 pm we wandered back and our paperwork seemed to be top of the pile and it looked like we were about to get the call. The room we were given was on the 2nd floor and there was no lift but no major problem. The room was very spacious with two large settees, microwave, hob, kettle and all utensils provided. The shower cubicle was huge and the shower was really powerful. We also had a sea view which was an added bonus.
The majority of staff were very friendly and the choice of drinks at the bars was vast including a number of cocktails. The food was good but a bit repetitive ( on our first four days lamb stew appeared 3 times ).
The hotel is in a residential area and there is a supermarket and a gift shop attached to the hotel complex. Unfortunately the weather wasn't kind to us and because of the remoteness of the hotel it was difficult to find something to do if you didn't have a car. We were aware of the quiet location but hadn't really banked on the inclement weather.
We couldn't fault the hotel and if you're looking for a quiet relaxing time this could be the location for you.

Yes there are bigger apartments but even a standard on would suffice and the staff would set the rooms up for both parties
Hopefully now better. They had just opened for the season and it was a lot of trial and error. Half it was un cooked....got better after a week of complaints. Good choices, but be careful x
