Detailed Reviews

Dear Victoria Forest Resort Hotel,
It was a fabulous event on 25th March 2023 at your hotel in Kalangala! Our family and friends thoroughly enjoyed the beautiful setting, delicious food and the great service that you and your team provided. We received the glowing feedback from our guests and we couldn't be happier.
To the Manager Mr. Emmauel Mugisha, we can't thank you enough for your hard work on that day,we were very impressed of how the ceremony went smoothly on the beach area even though we experienced bad weather before the function. You did a fantastic job guiding all of your team that managed to provide to our guests extra ordinary services throughout the ceremony. it just melted our hearts ....
Special thanks also to M/s. Zawadde, you did a splendid job in booking for our guests without any hustle and dedicated customer care. Thank you so much.
Thank you again for your outstanding efforts on 25th March 2023 as we celebrated our special day . It was a truly destination wedding and memorable weekend for all of us.
Best regards,
Mr.& Mrs. Kagimu Moses

Family house is indeed family house, had a wonderful stay, conducive, clean and comfortable. Has a good view of the lake, expansive green field for outdoor activities, clean water and white sand. We were served with good food served by smiling staff.

Comfortable Bed, Good Standard of Food but, and it's a big but;
The room was dirty, the shower enclosure did not shut, the bathroom door did not close and had considerable spider or other insect droppings by the rusty fitments. The washbasin was in the bedroom, had a large hole in the ceiling where the light presumably should have been, there was one glass rather than two, but it was full of dead fly's which was the same on the windowsill above. There was no bedside cabinet or anywhere to place items by the bedside. The first evening meal took 90 minutes to be served and the drinks did not arrive until after the food. Lunch ordered the following day (rolexes and a sandwich) took an hour, as did the drinks. We took the opportunity to order our evening meal, part of which arrived 30 minutes later than ordered with the remainder 'due to a mix-up with another order' an hour later.
We know that this is Africa. We have stayed in many other hotels (including this one 5 years ago) and have allowed for different standards. Would we come back to this hotel or recommend that you do - not likely!

This is by far the worst hotel/resort one could ever visit. The rooms were extremely dirty with frogs and lizards in them. They checked us in a room that was under renovation and while sleeping renovation guys came to do their job.
When they finished, they left their garbage there and we informed the reception but no effort was put in to clean it up.
By the way,the receptionist are the laziest you will ever meet in Uganda.
The bathroom was filthy. The furniture is super old and most of it broken.
In the gardens, the garbage is hidden in the flowerbeds.so when one looks at them, all they garbage welcomes you.
The place was not fumigated at all.
They moved their music from the pool and put it near sleeping rooms. That means, music was played till late night despite multiple complaints from various guests including those with Kids that they would like to sleep.
Therefore ,this is not a place you can come to relax.
If you're looking for relaxation, this is the wrong place unless you want to be welcomed by alot of filthy rooms and environment.
Also, on asking for a steam bath, they had to look for towels. One couldnt use the bathrooms because the curtains were not fixed.
On asking for a massage, they said the masseuse was sleeping.
While still sleeping, one person from staff cam to tell us it's time to leave at 8 am despite the fact that we were still staying there for a night.
Th place is a mess. I have travelled around Uganda but I have never been to such a disorganized filthy Hotel in Uganda or in the world.
This place doesn't deserve any star but I give it a one star because some service ladies and gents tried their best despite poor Management. E g Cathy, Dorcus, Hillary and Wilfred were amazing and tried to take care of us as much as they could.

Where do I begin.
Arrival
Because of the booking system, they should know many people are coming however we had to wait at the dock standing while carrying babies to be picked in turns by 1 small van. This took 4 trips.
The hotel room doors couldn’t open, another wait with babies and luggage (at this point we are all exhausted and irritated).
“Amenities”
All the amenities except the pool were not available. This information was not availed while we were booking for us to be able to make an informed decision. Most annoying of them all, no WiFi as sold when making the reservations.
Food.
How can a buffet consist of only 1 sauce?..Oh my freaking goodness this was a mess. The food was horrible, spaghetti was stale, no condiments at all, no one was available to address our concerns, food got finished while we were in line on the 1st night too😂
Laundry service
Mosquito nets with holes babies woke up with bites, bedsheets not changed nor towels brought even at frequent requests. Toilet paper is a myth (carry yours coz they avail it once throughout your stay), I could go on and on...
For the amount paid for a festive holiday, I wish we had all stayed home.
The only nice things are the birds and fresh air.
Forgive my grammar, typing with frustration.

This is by far the worst hotel I’ve been to. It is insect infested, unclean and just overall disappointing. Please do not waste your time- the view is true only worthwhile aspect other than that the food is tasteless, service slow, rooms unclean.

The staff were great. The chef was incredible, The vibe was chill but alive. They set up a boat tour to crocodile island, although there was one dog and a monitor lizard only. The nightly bonfire was cool......................................

From the first time you see the resort just off the shores of Lake Victoria, to the simple but pleasing welcome and the view from your room, this place elegantly combines simplicity and pleasure. There's a level of scepticism about touring Uganda, for the ordinary Ugandan, but VFR managed to put us at ease and give us a memorable weekend. Thank you Henry, Dalton and Cathy. The island is beautiful,no doubt, but the care made us feel as comfortable as anyone in their home should feel.
