Me and my wife Sheila together with the kids loved every bit of our stay at Mirembe Resort Beach Hotel. Accessing the Island was smooth thanks to the collaboration between MRB Hotel and Nyanza Evergreen waterways. It took approximately 1 hr and 15minutes from Entebbe to Kalangala! The rooms are large and the meals were great and came on time. The only downside is that the property has no Hotel though they have arrangements with a nearby facility to use their pool. Oh did I mention that the staff are great. They are friendly and never rest until you're comfortable.

It is a nice quiet place with a long beach, sumptuous meals and good customer service.
The staff are really friendly, rooms are spacious, neat and on call services are available.
They have quad bikes and bicycles for hire. Overall, the rates are very affordable.
They however have no pool, no spa, no sauna and the WiFi is really bad.

While on a project learning and exchange visit we stayed over this hotel and to our side we ant to say it was a memorable experience. Looking over at the beach side and the lake shores was beautiful. Their menu was also great, we enjoyed the fish. Next time we shall come in bigger numbers. The reception was great. keep it up.

First of all, this is a very beautiful place, quiet, by the circumstances clean and maintained, but an horrible service, first and foremost on the kitchen side.
They told us the first day, that we should order our dinner one hour ahead of our planed time to dine. OK, long time, but we did. In fact the deliverance took 1hour 15 mins.
For lunch the second day, the delivery time vas 1h50m. All rights were chosen among available meals from their menu. Then we decided to try to make it simple for the staff for dinner:
We ordered three and a half hour ahead of planned time for supper. We wanted to dine with the sunset at 18:45 and ordered something very simple, soup from the menu, toast and chapatti. This should be possible to time within 3,5 hours. We lined up for a romantic sunset,, and waited, and waited, it went dark and the soup was ready 20 mins to late. Since I ordered only soup and toast, I was clear at the order, that I wanted a large bowl, because this will be the main course, since the lunch was so late. I got a small bowl, OK, with that, I can always ask for a refill, I thought?? but no, the chef had made me one portion, and that was what I got. OK, than I want to order a main course. No, you cannot order more, because you said the soup should be your main course. Yes, but I ordered a large bowl, and want to be satisfied, I'm not satisfied after this small bowl, give me an medium steak, with fried potatoes. Well after long and horrible argue, I finally got my steak. After 1h15m, I got a really destroyed piece of meat, a burned and all over black steak, totally destroyed, and not enough with that, the ordered fried potatoes, was changed to an over filled portion of rice. This must just be done on evil.
Please stay away from Mirembe resort, you deserve something much better. There are much better options in Kalangala bay, such as Pearl Gardens, where we celebrated our last New Year eve.

We escaped to Mirembe from Banda Island (don't go there if you want to listen to a lot of racist/homophobic/misogynist remarks and/or sleep in a room with bats!) and as we were some of the only guests midweek we got a good deal on our room, which was one of the cottages. No hot water (although they said there was, so maybe there was something wrong with it!) and the lights are quite dim because they are generator-powered but it was clean, spacious and comfortable.

Service was attentive and although the restaurant had very limited options the food was pretty good although it could get repetitive if you stayed here for a while. Also, this is a totally unreasonable comment, but it's too bad the sun sets on the other side of the island! However, it was still stunning at that time of day (see photos).

Overall, I kind of loved it. It's not at all luxurious but I liked its simple comforts, the very beautiful beach and the feeling of being properly away from it all.

Solo trip as usual and these guys did not disappoint. They practically obsessed about me from the moment I got off the ferry to the moment I got back on it. Carried my luggage all the way to the my seat in the coach. From the clean and serene environment perfect for a restful vacation to the well made meals.... I cannot sing Mirembe Resort praises enough. Meant to do four nights but pushed an extra just to stay longer. Whenever I am in Kalangala, this shall be it for me.

Be sure to try their fried fish and deluxe room👌👌👌👌

We wanted some tranquillity after a 2 week safari, and indeed we found it here. We arrived on the daily ferry from Nakiwogo (Entebbe) and were met at the dock by staff with a Mirembe sign and a minibus. From the dock it's 10min drive or 1/2hr walk to Mirembe. The hotel is simple and unpretentious, all the rooms are in a row facing the lake, which is only 15-20m away. We picked the deluxe rooms, and were well pleased with them. Only downside was that hot water takes about 20mins to reach the room. The island's power supply typically goes off about 11pm and on at 9am, so keep a torch handy. There is wifi in the restaurant/bar and good phone reception. Mercy and her staff were welcoming and helpful. The food was mostly good - we were instructed to order an hour ahead, and it was then served promptly.
For naturalists, there is a wealth of wildlife to be seen, particularly birds - on the shore and in the forests. I was well pleased with what I found nearby.
The little town of Kalangala is quite close, up on the hilltop, maybe 10-15min drive or 40min walk, mostly through beautiful forest. The small shops and supermarket offer only basics.
We stayed for 3 nights midweek during November (I could have stayed a lot longer) and we found the weather pleasant - rain fell mostly at night. The beach area was quiet and almost deserted. Apparently it is busier during weekends and there may then be more disco noise in the evenings. Even MRB has a couple of speakers the size of fridges, so plan carefully!
