What a place. Friendly attentive staff with lovely food, quiet cafe fully decorated rooms. This place can only be recommended as a great place to wind down, with something for the drivers getting to the place and surrounded by amazing beaches within a 50 minute drive. Holiday balance pure. Don’t miss the beaches, amazing.

Listen, if you’re expecting a 4 star hotel you’re going to be disappointed. However, the experience of this place is 5 star. Unless you’re into hiking or horse riding there’s nothing to do - which is exactly what we were after. We stayed 2 nights and that was the perfect amount. You need a day to get over the drive, which is intimidating, and another night to just chill out. I loved the location, the scenery, and the experience of staying in a traditional cottage. However, there were some pitfalls - your room isn’t serviced daily and the kitchenette has minimal supplies. We had already read reviews and so we knew to BRING YOUR OWN SUPPLIES. We brought snacks, tea/coffee/sugar/milk, and our own alcohol. I would also advise bringing your own shampoo etc. The room had its own internet router and heat pump which was great. The restaurant was fine as well. Don’t be scared to ask for more towels, toilet paper, and for help carrying your luggage - the staff will look at you funny but you’re paying a lot to stay there so might as well!

We stayed there only for 3 days but we will definitely go back one day. "Aspasia" apartment was very nice, warm and clean. Employees were very kind and helpful. We enjoyed a lot our stay. Next time we will try also the available activities. Finally, the food (Cretan gastronomy) was delicious, although a bit expensive.

What a great idea - take a traditional Cretan hilltop village now almost deserted and turn it into a hotel. It's a bit remote - way up a road that winds backwards and forwards up the mountain, but when you get there all you have is the hotel and nothing else. But they provide a restaurant, it has great views, it has a swimming pool. But somehow the actuality doesn't work. The old village houses that have been turned into accommodation are small, they are dark, they are cold at night in October, they don't have a view. So you don't want to spend time in them. The restaurant. Our first night we ordered Lamb in Lemon and Wine Sauce. The lamb was tough. Tough lamb! We pointed this out to the rather scattly waitress/factotum and she argued with us! Second night we stayed clear of the main courses (Boiled Sheep with Spaghetti or Wild Goat Stew) and had several starters, it was an improvement but compared with all the other restaurants we ate at in Crete it was not good. Breakfasts were good though, not much choice but fruit, eggs, honey and yoghurt, bread and coffee a good way to start the day. We were booked for three nights, but daunted by driving up and down mountains to get anywhere, and the poor food wqe copped out after two. They were good enough not to charge us for the third night. If you were there for horse-riding or walking I can see it would have been better, but there was still the problem of the food. Wouldn't go again.
