Lua Pu Luong is tucked away on a jungle hillside that overlooks a beautiful terraced valley and mountains to the east where you’ll catch spectacular morning sunrises
My partner and I stayed at Lua Pu Luong in November 2023 and it was simply magical.
First, there’s Lua herself, the heart and soul of this establishment. Lua’s friendly and welcoming nature instantly made us feel like old friends. Being a local, she shared invaluable insights and recommendations for exploring the surrounding area. She recommended an incredible trek to a truly magical cave in the area (the “Bat cave”). What’s more, her personal journey and passion for Pu Luong’s beauty inspired the creation of this remarkable hotel. Lua’s dream is to share the natural wonders of Pu Luong with the world, and she’s doing it in the most incredible way.
And then there’s the staff — though with limited English, radiate warmth and hospitality.
The food is a delicious culinary adventure, but remember to order in advance for its unique, locally sourced flavors. They were also very accommodating of dietary restrictions: I’m vegan, my partner is not, and there was always something delicious for everyone!
As for our room… I’ll let the pictures speak for themselves but you can tell that Lua was very thoughtful in making you feel connected to nature with a touch of luxury. Truly one of the most unique and beautiful rooms I’ve stayed in.
Overall, what sets Lua Pu Luong apart are the stunning rice paddies that surround it. They provide an incredible backdrop to your stay, whether you’re dining, relaxing, or enjoying your poolside bungalow.
This is a true escape where nature meets genuine hospitality. Lua Pu Luong is a hidden paradise, and I wholeheartedly recommend it to all seeking an authentic getaway.

October is definitely one of the best times to come to Pu Luong. I had a lovely time at Lua Pu Luong, Lua was so helpful, the staff was friendly and helpful, and the setting was gorgeous. AND THE FOOD WAS SO GOOD!
And very important - though the style is Vietnamese homestay, as a westerner I found the beds and privacy and warmth very comfortable.
This is a place to rest, relax and wander through the rice fields, the WiFi isn't very strong which I loved because I find it hard to log off.
Check out the small waterfall nearby Ban Hieu, it's not epic but it's got lovely cold green water and is the kind of drive that's just crazy enough for a good story but easy to find.
Highly recommended.

Our family spent 4D3N at Lua Pu Luong and enjoyed every single minute of our stay. The staff are very friendly and welcoming, the owner Ms.Lua is extremely nice and passionate about keeping her place a perfect place to stay. We had all our meals at Lua Pu Luong and the food was very delicious at reasonable price. All the vegetables came fresh from their own garden.
The bungalow was spotlessly clean with environmentally friendly materials. View from the bungalow was breathtakingly beautiful. It’s a great place to relax and chill.
We definitely recommend this place.

Hidden paradise in still reasonably quiet but fantastic area. The lodges are designed with great taste by the owner herself. You will be pampered and left alone at the same time. A nice combination. Super friendly people. Excellent food, something different from elsewhere. Thank you very much, Lua!!

I went to Lua Pu Luong this end of Feb 2023 as a solo traveler. The place is absolutely stunning with the dining area view right in front of the rice field. Weather is a bit chilly around 17-19 degree suitable for staying cosy in front of the fireplace at dinner time. Service is great with English spoken staff and one of the highlights is the herbal bath which is so deeply relaxing. Love it.

I had a wonderful time at this property. The hostess, who speaks good English, helped me to arrange for transportation from Hanoi. Lua and her friendly staff made sure I had plenty of water and lotus tea, as well as many suggestions for sites to visit in the area. I got to enjoy a beautiful sunset and trek to the nearby villages and rice paddies. This is a great time of year to visit since the fields are full before harvest and the weather is not too humid. My room had a fan and windows that faced the valley. The food at every meal was abundant and delicious. A great value!

We’ve been to Pu Luong 3 times and stayed at different homestays each visit. We’ll usually opt to stay at the places with the highest and most reviews. Lua Pu Luong, having just opened in Feb of 2020 only had a couple reviews, although all were excellent, we had our doubts. This place is top notch though!!! Not only would we consider this the best homestay we’ve been to in Pu Luong, we would consider this the best homestay we’ve been to in all of Vietnam in the last 2 years.
Lua Pu Luong is tucked away on a jungle hillside that overlooks a beautiful terraced valley and mountains to the east where you’ll catch spectacular morning sunrises. It’s extremely quiet and private away from all the other homestays in the area, so it doesn’t have the same touristy vibe as the main homestay area in Pu Luong. Ms. Lua is an outstanding host, speaks excellent English, and takes every measure to make sure your stay is the most enjoyable. Oh… and the food rivals some of the best restaurants I’ve eaten at in Vietnam.
I almost hate to submit this review, because selfishly we’d like to keep this place our secret hideaway from Hanoi and we will most certainly be back!

What I am extremely impressed with about Lua Pu Luong is that the dishes here are combined rustic, natural, and full of sophistication. Every meal with us is a true culinary show. I myself work in the tourism industry and have eaten many meals at 5 stars, but I have never seen food and drink that are so artistic, especially when the ingredients are used from the garden and the local area. Within 3 days, the kitchen served nearly 30-40, but each dish made us amazed and proud of the richness of Vietnamese cuisine. Silk's kitchen to me is as good as any luxury restaurant, even surpassing the freshness, deliciousness, and purity that we feel when enjoying. In addition, Lua designed a style that is close to nature, without flowers, grass, and flat trees, boring like many other resorts. And of course, the soul of Lua is the owner Nguyen Thi Lua. Thank you for giving me and my friends peaceful moments during these few days in Lua.
