What Dhampus lodge lacks in scale, it makes up for in oversized views. On a clear day, the Phedi and Mardi Valleys are spread out before you, along with Annapurna 1,2,3,4 and South, and the closest and most impressive of the range, Machapuchare —Fishtail Mountain. Eight bright rooms set in a row face the fantastic panoramic views of the Annapurna Range. You’ll find stone floors adorned with Nepalese carpets, blankets and artwork.

Comprising rooms, a restaurant, a bar, and a beautifully landscaped garden terrace, Basanta Lodge feels like a mountainside secret. There’s a real retreat ambiance here, where simple pleasures and natural surroundings take center stage. In the evening, guests gather on the grassy terrace for drinks and foot massages as the sun sets over the mountains then head into the cozy dining room with a roaring fire and small bar for dinner.

I stayed one night at this place and it was very memorable. I wanted extend the stay but due to time constraints, unable to stay more than one night. The ambiance and the services were great. The rooms were great with private bath and all in all the foods were heavenly. Next time i plan to visit this place again with my friends and stay for more than one day.

I only got to spend one night at Basanta iLodge, but it was truly memorable. I was there with a friend; we had been on a two day trek, and due to the Corona Virus pandemic, we were leaving the next day to try to return to Canada. We were treated like queens by Santosh and his staff. The view of the mountains was mind blowing. We did not want for anything. I appreciated all the little extra touches - tea brought to my porch, with some spicy cookies, a clothesline to hang up our damp clothing and SUPERB service and dining. All meals we were served were epicurean delights, in my books. After dinner, musical instruments came out, and along with my guide and porter, and Santosh himself, and the chef, we had a great evening of fun and dancing. It was bittersweet, as we knew the lodge was closing. Reservations had all dried up, and we were the last guests. :( I shall remember my time here forever... it is seared on my soul. I hope to return to Basanta Lodge and spend more time there, when the madness of the world we now live in now,is gone. I highly recommend Basanta Lodge to anyone and everyone.

This is quite small for a Ker & Downey Lodge but never-the-less, it was up to the usual standard. We enjoyed that breakfast was served outside on the lawn so we could admire the Annapurna Mountains in their full glory. Rooms were small but adequate & clean & we had hot water throughout! The food here was slightly different but still Nepalese in style & plenty of it-we enjoyed our short time here!

Small rooms but with private bath. Solar hot water worked fine. Laundry service available for a fee. No wifi. Quiet with a nice view of the mountains. Served breakfast and lunch on tables outside on the lawn. Dinner was three course with happy hour before with free drinks and snacks.

Rustic and simple, luxury it isn't but very clean and comfortable after a days trekking. A great experience AWAY from wifi - our guides had contact with the outside world if we really needed it. Very welcoming and helpful staff, stunning mountain views and very good and copious food (albeit limited in choice and UK in style of cooking), Lunch served outside added to the experience.Brilliant happy hour drinks before dinner making friends around the fire and we were lucky to benefit from post dinner entertainment from our host (a great guy who I sadly didn't see on our departure but thank you very much for the great time) and our guides who played local music and sang to us for quite some time. We even learned some words and dancing moves!

My daughter and I stayed in Basanta Lodge one night. Views of the Annapurna mountains range were amazing indeed, despite the fact that we travelled to Nepal in August, monsoon time. The lodge was really nice and clean. The cook did a great job with the meals, all the workers were really friendy and nice. The owner of the lodge, a gurka soldier, told us so interesting stories!. Thanks to all of them and to our trekking guide Padam. We will come back.

Very cosy lodge. Smallest one we have stayed in but probably our favorite Ker & Downey Nepal accommodation. Really special place managed by a very hospitable, retired Gurkha soldier (Mr I.B Gurung) whose company we thoroughly enjoyed. Told us lots of interesting stories about his army days. Feels very homely. The staff are all excellent - we liked chatting with a very jolly waiter (Mr Amit) who brought us lots if traditional Nepalese food. We especially loved the thali and masala potatoes. Gorgeous gardens immaculately maintained by very cheerful ladies. We saw rhododendrons and plum blossoms everywhere. Expansive views of Annapurna range. Wonderful place! Dhampus was also the only town we visited that actually had rubbish bins in the village. Good effort in trying to cut down the littering that does plague Nepal.

We visited this Ker & Downey lodge for the final night of our Exodus trek in the Annapurna foothills. This trip is categorised as "fairly easy" but this has to be taken in context - if you are a keen hillwalker and regularly walk !0+ miles in Lake District or Scottish Highlands then it is fairly straightforward, if your idea of a long walk is 2-3 miles then you really need to get fit before you take on this amount of walking. Basanta Lodge in the village of Dhampus was the final stop on our trek in the Annapurna region and like all of the Ker & Downey lodges we stayed, it was in a great location with stunning views of the Annapurnas. The smallish, very clean, twin bedded rooms have everything you need, jugs of drinking water, down jackets, gloves, hats, crocs, comfy beds with plenty blankets, plus they will put hot water bottles in your bed if you want one. The shower rooms with wash basin & flushing loo are perfectly adequate, shampoo and shower gel are provided. Hot water is provided by solar power so you should keep showers short and have one as soon as you get there so the water can heat up again. Mid afternoon heralds the arrival of tea & biscuits so no chance of losing weight on this trip, they feed you so well. At around 5-6pm we had Happy Hour (as at all the K&D lodges) with free local spirits and local beers. We have brought home great memories of sitting around the wood burner with a local G & T or Everest beer sharing conversation with other walkers & our guides. Meals once again were served at a large communal table and were very enjoyable. Home grown, home cooked, often vegetarian, hearty portions & excellent quality. The service was excellent This 5 night trek, staying in Ker & Downey lodges was the highlight of our visit to Nepal. It was very good value for money and we would do it again tomorrow.
