A nice place to stay out of Pom City
I was pleasantly surprised, the accommodation was great.
From the balcony, we could view the sea and feel the cool breeze. The location of our room was absolutely perfect,as you could see the pool and sea views, the mountains and islands surrounding the resort..
The GM of the resort,Mr Darryl (Sir Ayi) was very accommodating. Thanks btw for the great idea of having a 30 % discount for accom & 15% discount on ala carte menu when u are a Member of Fapng Community.Worth to be a member. (Kudos to Fapng Councils.)
We also experience a Dolphin Swim, Snorkeling and island hoping the next day, its like a private white sand beach, very clean and clear water, a very good place to relax and chill. The scenery was beautiful and it was a relieve to walk in such a quiet and peaceful environment.
We able to visit also the famous Tavurvur Volcano and the small hot spring around it.
I must say our best spot of the resort is their Bar deck. The view of the sunset was mesmerizing..For eight days of our stay, there's no time that we dont sit and relax of course with Kulau(fresh Coconut Juice) and Beer and the fully costed Menus.

!!The Heart Of A Green Environment & Blue sea!!

The Rapopo Plantation Resort. I was Inlove with the Environment withing the hotel Site, Beautiful spieces of Flowers and Trees gives me fresh air,The Sounds of the Beautiful coloured Parrot.

I enjoyed the nice fully furnished rooms, views from my rooms were awesome, its more comfy to watch Blue sea even taking pictures from my room door.

I'm so Inlove with their different types of Hotel Menu, especially, the Whole Fish with Super Hot Fresh Chilly.

Waist Management System was good, Fresh Busket Bags were sawn and hanged around for waist disposal.

The early Hours Fish Feeding was really enjoyable. The best thing that complements our Honeymoon, is the KAYAK Paddling in the Magnificent Blue Sea.

The Hospitality and treatment from hotel stuffs is the thing I will never forget. Their approach and beautiful smiles always makes me feel at home.

The hotel bus service is the best, they are always standby for pick up drop off.

My wife and I were treated us VIP's by Hotel manager (Mr. Derryl) it gives us a complete comfort as he spend time with us despite his busy schedule.

We were really blessed with everything they provide for my wife and I.

We both truly enjoyed our honeymoon trip.

We hope to pay visit anytime in the near future.

Thank you so much and God bless.

Staying at Rapopo Plantation Resort was an absolutely amazing experience.

The resort itself is nestled in a picturesque location, surrounded by lush tropical gardens and overlooking a pristine beach. The views were simply breathtaking, and I felt like I was in paradise.

One of the highlights of my stay was the resort's dining options. The on-site restaurants served a wide variety of delicious cuisines. Whether I was in the mood for fresh seafood, international dishes, or local specialties, there was always something to satisfy my cravings. The service at the restaurants was impeccable, with attentive staff and a welcoming atmosphere.

The resort also had an impressive range of recreational activities to enjoy. I spent my days lounging by the amazing pool, indulging in spa treatments, and taking part in the water sports offered on the beach. There was never a dull moment, and the staff ensured I had everything I needed.

The stunning location, luxurious accommodations, delectable dining options, and exceptional service make it the perfect destination for a relaxing and unforgettable vacation. I cannot wait to return to this little slice of paradise.

The resort is absolutely beautiful! Located a just few minutes drive away from the airport and has stunning views of crystal waters, Mt Tavurvur and islands. Rapopo's customer service is over and beyond and ensure your stay is enjoyable and memorable. The staff are all very helpful and friendly. They also provide transport services for guests to Kokopo town. The Garden Bay Poolside room is spacious with beautiful view looking over the pool and outward to the beautiful water, has all amenities to make your stay comfortable. The Lobster Mornay cooked by their awesome chef is the best and a "must-try" dish! Rapopo provides massage and spa services. The back massage was a much-need and was very relaxing. You can enjoy your meals at the Deck or just relax and enjoy the view.
Thank you Team Rapopo!

We had advice from friends to be very careful in Papua New Guinea. Rapopo, Rabaul, Kokopo and East New Britain generally were on par with the friendliness we would have expected in Fiji or Samoa.

The staff were relaxed, friendly and extremely helpful, the array of activities and tours on offer from dolphin swims to volcano climbs were incredible, and with the mask festival on at the same time there was no shortage of planned activities. The staff were happy to accommodate additional requests including a local rugby league game. Strongly recommend seeing one of those if you get the chance.

My dad isn't as mobile as he used to be, which was one of the reasons we went to Rapopo. He made use of the boat ramp and beach access to go snorkelling in the onshore reef daily and didn't get tired of that at all. I've never seen a lionfish in the wild before.

The on-site kitchen menu was great and well priced, and the food was top notch. We also used the in-room kitchen a few times.

Thanks for an amazing holiday. Can't recommend enough.

Family of 3 with a 3 yr old. Thoroughly enjoyed our 4 days at the Rapopo Resort. The restaurant and reception staff were very helpful and responsive to any request we made. The food was lovely and we asked a couple of times for sandwiches or snacks for our 3 yr old and this was no trouble. The resort is as eco friendly as possible and supports the local community with a daily free shuttle to the town marketplace where there is an abundance of local produce and craft. The room was clean and air conditioned, and good size. Small fridge and tea and coffee making facilities. There is an aviary with colorful birds that are free to come and go. The pool area is lovely and clean and relaxing for all, with a swim up bar or juice shop as our 3yr old called it (although this wasn't open when we were there) with in the pool stools. The grounds are lush and green and the beach perfect for the kids to play at with clear water that we took our 3yr out in with goggles and saw so many fish. I saw photos of the Resort set up for weddings and it looks amazing it would be the perfect spot for it. Rabaul-Kokopo Dive is located in the Resort and they have a lot of activities on for the whole family. We can highly recommend the Dolphin feeding, this isn't actually feeding the dolphins but going out in the boat to the area the dolphins feed at and getting in the water and swimming with them. For those that are interested the tour to the WWII tunnels is so interesting and we did this with the 3yr old and he loved having the torch and leading the way. The trek to the volcano is a must. We went to the base with the 3yr old and the hot springs but they do trek all the way up and in the volcano but I wouldn't recommend it for the small kids as it is a bit treacherous. The employees of Rabaul-Kokopo Dive were fantastic and so so knowledgeable well worth booking in with them, we plan to take more of their activities when we return next. My suggestions for those with kids, take torches and when you go to dinner at night you will hear the frogs and you can go spotting them while waiting for your food, take mosquito repellent, the Resort does do the fogging but there are sand flies also, but not too bad. Take goggles and snorkels and a pool noodle, our 3yr snorkeled with us out on the reef with his life jacket on, goggles and holding on to a pool noodle and putting his face in the water, he loved it and was in there for around 30min and would have stayed longer, you can do this off the beach at the Resort too. Take sand toys. There are supermarkets not too far away if you have a car. This really is a great place to stay, how many Resorts have an owner walking around talking to guests each day checking in that everything is alright with your stay and chatting about anything you are interested in. Also, before leaving the resort to fly out, ask the reception staff to make sure your flight is on time, it is a definite to do as you would rather be waiting at the resort then the airport and flights can be delayed or cancelled.

I recently stayed in on of the new beach bungalows, right on the edge of the sea and feel I should warn people who are thinking of staying in one of the two bungalows. If you don't want to fall asleep to the gentle breaking of waves on the sandy beach, don't book!! If you don't want to sit on your balcony with a cool drink looking over pristine tropical waters, don't book!! If you don'y like the idea of viewing three majestic volcanoes from your room, don't book!! If you don't enjoy spectacular sunsets, don't stay at Rapopo!!! If you don't enjoy fresh chilli lobster (and many other fresh foods), don't stay at Rapopo!!! If you don't like genuine, friendly & extremely helpful staff, don't stay at Rapopo!! If you don't like a spotlessly clean 25m pool, don't stay at Rapopo. I could keep going but won't and lastly, don't say I didn't warn you!!!!

The resort has an exceptional location with breathtaking sunsets and good snorkeling, however this is not enough to grant a 4-5 stars. We had heard from various sources that this was the place to stay if you wanted to have a great visit in Rabaul. Unfortunately, it was not so for us. There were several issues and I understand in this time of COVID Small business have had operational challenges. However they also have a duty to their customers to provide reliable information and provide services . The Resort website indicates that there is an on site Dive operation, however be advised that it is currently not operational. This resort has diving listed as one of their attractions (Rabaul in general is known for diving), If that is not available, travelers should be made aware. We were only made aware of this at the time of arrival, a note was handed to us advising that their diving facility was closed. On that same note were additional tour facilities but when called, all indicated they did not have diving operators. Prior to our trip we had placed calls to dive operations in the area, however no one returned our calls, e-mails or messages. Once we arrived we heard of only one small start up (they were fully booked) who operates only one banana boat. In addition to no diving, our room was not adequately clean when we arrived (soap scum still in soap dish, toothpaste splatter on rustic log by washbasin and old water in tea kettle). The room was next to the henhouse (be aware there is henhouse) and roosters /birds crow at all hours, this is funny until you want to sleep. The restaurant waitstaff seemed to be fairly new and not well versed on the menu, service was very slow for most part. We ordered pizza as we saw others had done. After we ordered for some reason the staff were taking pictures of a pizza (we did not know it was ours) and then left it sitting on counter. We continued to wait for our pizza and when inquired as to why it was taking so long for our pizza, they served up the one that had been on the counter. I don't like posting these type of reviews, so I want to say that there were a couple of shining stars, Jean Marie, was an exceptional wait staff and knew her business and if she did not know the answer she looked for it and then provided it, we tried to be at her table assignment when we could. Also Martha at the front desk was very helpful. The pool although older is quite nice but swim bar is closed. The rooms seem dated and in need of refresh but I think in this time, just good cleaning would go a long way. Sorry for negative review, like I said I had high hopes but we cut our 5 day visit down to 3 days.

I stayed here for 5 nights with my partner. We had the most fantastic time, and cannot speak highly enough of the staff and facilities.
Room was amazing: pool view, spacious, comfortable, aircon, room serviced on request.
Food was all delicious: huge all day menu, all very reasonably priced, has to be the only place that a lobster pad Thai costs the same as a chicken pad Thai!! Full bar facilities.
Dive shop: Freida and her team at Nuigini Dive and Tours operate onsite at the resort. I contacted Freida before arriving via email to book several tours. Freida and her team are all exceptionally friendly and did every thing they could to ensure we had a great week. We loved the dolphin swim, Mt Tavurvur hike, WWII day trip, and diving.
Staff: super friendly and genuine, return airport transfers, impressed that all the staff quickly remembered our names, drink orders and breakfast orders!
Snorkelling directly out the front of the resort off the beach was possibly the best snorkelling I've done, great way to end the day before dinner time. We would genuinely recommend Rapopo Plantation Resort to all our family and friends.

Last week I surprised my daughter for her 6th birthday to beautiful Rapopo. She loved it so much. The staff were nothing but very helpful. The room upgrade was so spacious and comfortable. The pork ribs was amazing. My daughter's favourite was the chicken nugget with their mixed chips of potatoes, kaukau and taro. The highlight was when the Rapopo staff brought a cake out and sang happy birthday to my daughter which she loved so much. We spent the whole day laying around the pool area and then the sea and just enjoying the cool calm and relaxed day. My daughter really had the best time there she asked me "When are we coming back?". That alone says how much she enjoyed her stay. Thank you Rapopo staff.

Hi there, Gavin is your guy. Ask for him to assist. He is in charge of the Dive Center that operates within the resort premises. He takes guests out to swim with the dolphins and we borrowed an outrigger from him, I suggest a kayak would be easier to steer. The Dive Centre gave us advice on where it was best to snorkel. Cheers Cheers,

I agree also you would need to swim out a bit for better snorkeling. It was easy and safe to swim and enjoyable though not spectacular. Our highlight was the resort organised our swim with the dolphins and snorkling over a Japanese Fighter plane. Their lobster lunch is divine.

East New Britain is safe for tourists, they are an island of happy helpful people. The most important thing as is normal with most places you aren't totally familiar with is to plan. Plan where you want to go and where it is in relation to where you are. Just have a day map penned out and ready to go. Most expats don't require security, be confident assertive and smile.
