Orkhon Camp is open from May to September Orkhon Camp is probably the best place to stay in the Orkhon Valley. Its location near the Orkhon river and amidst all the landmarks of the valley makes it a perfect foothold for any visitor exploring this region of Mongolia. The camp is only 7 km away from the waterfall, 35 km away from Tuvkhun Monastery, 50 km away from the Naiman Nuur lakes and 85 km away from Karakorum. The site is surrounded by beautiful mountains covered with pine and larch trees. The Khangai mountains were considered sacred by the ancient nomads of the valley who worshipped Tenger - the eternal blue sky. Orkhon Camp is made up of 20 fully equipped gers, a restaurant, as well as showers and toilets. Our restaurant and bar serve delicious Mongolian and Western dishes, as well as all sorts of beverages. Our staff can speak several languages such as English, French and Russian and will be happy to serve you and make your stay as enjoyable as possible. Our camp has plenty of facilities and equipement that you can use for free. We have a swimming pool, a beautiful garden with outside tables as well as a volleyball playground. You can fish in the river or even play pétanque. We can also rent horses from the surrounding herders for you. Futhermore, our camp is eco-friendly. We have a greenhouse to produce our own vegetables. Our electricity entirely comes from solar energy. Our hot showers are also fueled by solar water heaters. Moreover, we have both standard and eco-friendly dry toilets.

Orkhon Camp is an average place to stay when visiting the Orkhon Valley. The gers are nothing fancy, but they aren't dirty. The service is acceptable, but there wasn't much to comment on. The food was average, although the sheep dumplings with the sauce that accompanies them were absolutely delicious. The camp straddles the Orkhon River, and is picturesque, but it's difficult to get down to the rover from the camp - rock scrambling is required, and therefore I did not go all the way down. While the camp is only 7 miles from the waterfall, the road to get to the waterfall is not well maintained and is very rocky, and takes the better part of an hour, making this camp a bit inconvenient in terms of location. Thing is, I don't believe there is another camp that is closer. This camp will do, you won't get upset, but don't have high expectations of it.
