Such an unexpectedly nice stay at the country-side estate, while on a road trip! We arrived late by car and got a very warm welcoming by the owners. The rooms were astonishingly tidy and we got a great night sleep. In the morning the hosts prepared a lovely breakfast before we set on the road again. The premises is on an old, wooden elementary school, probably from the 1940´s, with even horses. The area is very well kept, also including the buildings and yards. Of the hosts, (who btw also know English, Dutch and German) I have only positive comments. For the travelers it is good to know, that it requires a bit of driving in the small country roads to reach the BnB.
If you drive by Kuopio or Joensuu and have the courage to diverge to minor countryside roads, you will find a surprising b&b to spend the night. Impressive old two-storey wooden elementary school has been transformed to a cosy hotel, with modern rooms in auxiliary traditional-style building. Breakfast was prepared by the owner himself, professional cook by background, and it was delicious, including healthy oatmeal porridge – finnish superfood. And if you have a chance to try to the old, small wood-heated sauna on the shore of the lake, don’t miss it. Here you can listen to silence and feel some of Finland as it was in the 1950’s.
