The family running this homestay has been doing this for 11 years now, and I must say,the hospitality they offer is unbeatable. We were a group of 18, stayed for about 3 days, each and everyone of us enjoyed the delicious food they served, stories they told, knowledge about the forest that they shared, and excellent prompt service!
I cannot rave about the food enough. This is a vegetarian homestay that serves finger licking amazing food. Each meal had different varieties, some were quite unique like beetroot always, banana sabzi, jackfruit papad, lemon kadhi, best if all was a perfect coconut milk ganji. I would highly recommend this homestay for the food alone LOL.
SECONDLY, the nature walks!
I went on 2 of them since I enjoyed the first one so much.
Our guide Ajit Hegde was very knowledge and showed us unique trees, plants, insects and beautiful birds. A few of them that I can recal are racket tailed drongo, malabar trojan(Male and female), grey hornbil and the great indian hornbil, plum headed parakeets, barbers, bee-eaters, kingfisher, Langoors, shekaru, flying squirrel, flycatcher, foxes, sunbirds.
Very important rule to follow during the walks is to stay silent so we can watch and listen for the birds and creatures of the forest. During my second walk we hardly saw any birds since there was larger crowd that was very loud and didn't care about the surrounding. Also important to keep our forests clean.. my family, on our second walk ended up cleaning the litter that people before us left on the forest floor.

THIRDLY location!
We covered a lot of scenic views since we were kind of close to every place the owner suggested.
We went to a forest falls that is a famous local spot.

We have visited Amara home stay Dandeli on 22 and 23 Feb along with family and friends. This place is really awesome and peaceful location. This is located in forest area and we can explore the forest, plants, birds and some ayurvedic medicine.

About location of this homestay is near to important places Ulavi, synthery rocks, Water falls and Ajit will guide and help on this trucking.

Food is really very tasty and different Verity's, and pure vegetarians. Neer dosa, Mente dosa, Idli, vada, beetroot halwa, different kind of pickles, jonibella with ghee, banana bajji, and many more.

Overall super services from this home stay family.

Four generations of the Hegde family worked so hard to make our stay at Dandeli the most wonderful homestay experience ever. Ajit was a super attentive host, making sure we were always taken care of.
His wife, mother and even grandmother cooked us elaborate, traditional, vegetarian gourmet meals that were an absolute pleasure; 4 days with 12 meals, each one different and equally delightful - hats off to the Hegde women! Even Ajit's son contributed to make this homestay a must repeat destination with his cheerful presence and peels of laughter.
The rooms were simple and clean. The location in the Tiger Reserve means that you are surrounded by beautiful forests in every direction. The nature walk will Ajit was a real treat.
Thank you Ajit and family - my family and friends look forward to another visit in the near future.

Deep inside the jungle of western Ghat here's a natural Spot for refreshing and rejuvenating your mind, body and soul... that's Amara Home stay.. Here you can enjoy homely delicious foods prepared from vegetables from their own garden.. You can warmup your body with the evening campfire...
I can say the place is free from Noise,Air and light pollution. 🌟Star studded night skies, whisperings of small wildlives, morning orchestra of birds..
Yes it's a best place for a Summer holiday..

Beyond any doubts, one of the best homestays I have ever been to. More so because of the hospotability of the family with good heart & pure souls and the food served here. Right from the time you are welcomed until you leave, the family will take care of you so very well. We were treated like a part of their family. Built on almost 10 acres of cultivated land, the rooms are built like authentic huts.
The dining area is planned neatly for the entire group to sit together and eat.
The best part is the food. It's pure veg and all the meals served are the tastiest. The family personally supervises the cooking and some of them are even cooked by them. Unlike many other place where people make faces to serve 2nd time, we were forced to eat with multiple servings, that too with happy faces of serving pure and authentic food.
The huts and the complete area is decorated with worli art and looks so beautiful.
Overall it's a must go and an amazing place to be for a relaxing holiday with family.

Much love to Mr. Ajit Hegde and family, also to Mr. Uday.

Ajith Hegde and his family are fantabulous hosts. If you plan to holiday in Dhandeli, this is the place for you to stay. This place takes you really close to nature. We were a group of 13 people ranging from 2yrs to 70yrs and this place had made all of us feel homely. The few but amazing places that we can visit are very well known by their drivers and make your visit hassel free. The vegetarian food they serve is truly makes you feel at home. For sure, I recommend this to all my family and friends.

Namaste from Amara Homestay Dandeli. We usually find difficulty to manage large number of people in a group, coz everyone will have different taste & demands. But when it comes to your group, it's so easy coz each & everyone in your group understands our work & respected it. Really happy. Thanks for visiting us & reviewing. Please visit us again

Ajit was a great host and took care of us very well.
The cleanliness (which I am very much concerned about , especially when travelling with kids) scores 10 out of 10.

Also, the hospitality shown made us feel very comfortable and gave a home like feeling ..

The food was yummy and I forgot all my diet for 2 days so that I don't miss out on the delicious food.
It is all cooked by the family themselves.

The green surroundings made my morning run enjoyable.

Overall, it is a must visit...and I am going back soon to Amara homestay 🙂

Home stay approach is through lush green forest and once reached to home stay, we meet Hegde family who is very particular about food quality with great hospitality. Apart from location and food which is great, want to talk about music and Yakshgana. The region has great cultural heritage of classical music, Yakshagana and our host (Hegde family) helped us to host a music concert for our group. It was beautiful experience of music in such a green location. Also one can explore Yakshagana during Ganesh festival and Vijayadashmi as Hegde family themselves involved in performing and promoting this great heritage of Karnataka.

We family of 4 recently visited Amara Homestay and can’t thank enough Mr. Ajit Hegde and his family for their hospitality, support and guidance during our 2N stay making it one of ours most enjoyed and fulfilling experience of long cherished vacation to Dandeli. The property is clean, well maintained and nestled deep inside Kali Tiger Reserve as compared to all other Homestay and resorts which are located outside KTR. One thing which makes Amara so special and most sought after is it’s FOOD and we can’t thank enough entire Hedge family especially Ajit Mother, Wife and Grandma for making such delicious local food and satisfying our taste buds. Nothing taking away from Ajit who is there for all your needs and attaining to one and all. Make no mention he is the best guide you should follow when it comes to planning your stay right from local activities, sight seeing and arranging logistics in and around Dandeli. Lastly would like to thank Ajit for arranging Nature Walk without which our stay would have been incomplete. Would definitely recommend all to stay at Amara if you are planning for visit in Dandeli.

Note: Please follow all the instructions that Ajit provide in terms of directions, sight seeing or any other activities as he is well aware of local conditions and your time on hand.

We spent The Diwali weekend at Amara homestay. It was an idyllic holiday and It was a treat to the senses, to be surrounded by virgin forests , the melodious calls of the birds , lovely trails and delicious home cooked meals . Ajith our host , and his family are committed to service and going that extra mile to make the stay a pleasant one . We used to look forward to the delectable spread of local food , every meal Rooms were clean . An extremely knowledge man ,Ajith makes the morning trails very interesting with interesting tit bits about the flora and fauna around . His wife , a very sweet and pleasant lady makes the meals herself along with other family members . She went out of her way to source mehendi leaves for us and got it ready for us . We were really touched by this gesture .
Strongly recommend this place if you are looking for a couple of days of serenity, away from the hustling city life while getting pampered with home cooked meals.
