Stilleben is a wonderful little hotel located on the countryside. It's very tastefully decorated with amazing views over the beutiful nature of Gästrikland. The hotel is run by a friendly belgian couple with an informal and friendly approach. The food is excellent with ingredients from nearby suppliers. Highly recommended!
Very nice rooms; high ceilings, really nice views and very clean. The breakfast was really good and healthy. We also ate dinner which we can recommend. Overall a really nice stay, couldn’t have been better.
We have just returned from a 2,000km+ driving staycation in Sweden this summer, staying in over 10 accommodations on our route. We can confidently state that Stilleben was comfortably the best place we stayed in on our trip. It is true to also state that our trip was last minute, so we missed out on some other nice places to stay on our way around. However, in terms of relative quality in the Swedish B&B market, this lovely family run business is a stand-out performer based on our visit. We were two adults and two children aged 3 years and 2 years. We decided to book two rooms (rooms 1 & 2 were assigned) in order to make handling the children easier. The hotel is run by a super chilled out couple who immediately make you feel at home. The interior design of the accommodations is fantastic - quite minimalist with seemingly the concept that it becomes a home from home and less evidently a hotel. Small details like the very small numbering on the room door and subtle way to distinguish the room keys are signs that a lot of thought has gone into the design of the hotel. We knew from the reviews that the food would be of a high quality and importantly that it would be healthy, so we decided to eat dinner there all three nights of our stay. It was such a welcome break from the endless unhealthy köttbullar and chips and pizza that we were forced to eat in other places. We had a vegetable dish with halloumi the first night, lovely lamb sausages the second night, and locally sourced elk meatballs the third night. Each dinner is a lovely 3-course set menu and the desserts were fantastic. We also noted the care with which everything was cleaned, including the owners wearing protective gloves to clean and tidy. Guided tours, mountain bikes and other activities are available but we just decided to relax in the very calm and peaceful environment. It's an excellent destination with the kids as there is a forskola next door to the hotel. So once it is closed in the evening it is possible to take the kids to play in the playground. The kids also loved the childrens plates and cups for breakfast and dinner. The rooms were lovely and we slept very well due to the comfortable beds and peaceful surroundings. The bathrooms were also beautifully designed (showers not bath). A great place - we will be back!…
An awesome place to stay. Classy interior with a great combination of rural materials and modern Scandinavian looks. Super friendly staff, a real family business. A spa on the way, with a beautiful view. Looking forward to coming back.
Small and relaxed countryside hotel. The building has recently been tastefully renovated and much of its old character has been retained. Outstanding (!) interior design. The food was great and had a homemade quality to it in the best possible sense. Robin and Marieke were great hosts and we felt very welcomed during our stay. The hotel is situated in the outskirts of a small village, but the surroundings are beautiful and serene. Highly recommended and would love to come back.
