From the moment we arrived Sunaina and her family did everything to make our stay memorable. The area is so interesting, people so friendly and the food she cooked was delicious. We ate dinner in their garden by the side of the river, went on a sunrise canoe ride and visited the local temple celebrations. There are bikes if you want to explore further but we spent a lot of time walking around the paths beside the canals. Our room was clean and spacious with a comfortable bed and lots of hot water for showers. A great place to stay!
he owners and family were super friendly and could not do enough to ensure our stay was a pleasant one. For the price it's outstanding.... The location on the riverside is spectacular, with hammocks and sheltered dining area. It was bliss to sit there and enjoy dinner and breakfast. The food was terrific, wonderful local dishes including the "green chromide", a local fish. Breakfast was equally enjoyable with omelette along with Kerala options. They booked a boat trip for us. There is a canoe and bikes to use free of charge. The room we had in the house was simple but clean. The lady owner was full of interesting information on the local area. As a host she was outstanding. (Be aware if you ask for the a/c controller it's an extra 400Rs per day. Lots of loud music from nearby temples... although we eventually got to like it...) Eating your meals at the homestay is highly recommended. Excellent communications. In summary, for the price it's punching above its weight... great value and lovely food, delightful family and location. I would not hesitate to return again or recommend to family and friend…
My daughter and I stayed at Green Chromide Homestay for four days where Sunaina and her beautiful family provided everything we could hope for in a homestay and much more. The amenities were great including the cleanest rooms we had stayed in, hot water and reliable wifi, however what made our stay a highlight of our trip was the family’s genuineness and warm hospitality. As a host, Sunaina is organised, professional, responsive, a great cook and knowledgeable about the local area and its history. Her traditional South Indian cooking was so nourishing predominantly made with locally sourced organic produce such as eggs from her neighbour. In this real, homely environment, we often had spontaneous cooking lessons standing around the stove watching her make chapattis, chai or freshly caught Green Chromide fish wrapped in banana leaf (pollichathu, a must try!). The family were full of sightseeing recommendations, assisted with organising transport to and from the accommodation and organised tours for us. We also had access to their bicycles and spent hours exploring the Island, meeting so many welcoming, generous and curious residents. Our faces hurt from smiling so much! The island itself is stunning and the backwaters are picturesque, there’s amazing birdwatching from the hammocks set up by the river at the front of the property. What stood out for me was the family’s passion to share their culture and home life, and the generosity of their time. Our stay at Green Chromide Homestay was a complete joy, we will be back again. Sunaina and family, nandi! …
The only complaint I could make about our stay here is that we didn't stay for long enough. The location is great, right on the river and Sunaina and her family are so welcoming. From helping us with a connection from the airport, recommending activities as well as cooking delicious and authentic local food they really go above and beyond to make sure you enjoy your stay. I would highly recommend this homestay, just make sure you have enough time to explore!
We did a wonderful canoe ride for around 2 hours and it was really peaceful - simply awesome. Great explanations and very kindly/friendly. I highly recommend this place and would love to stay there during night next time 😀 Thanks a lot & see you soon 🛶😍
