8 cottages, circa 1880, nestle in a valley of vineyards, surrounded by red stone hills, displaying their own natural windows. All cottages with air conditioner, limited satellite tv and spectacular view of the red stone hills and the vineyards. We farm ostriches, vineyards, cattle and sheep. Free tractor rides in the mornings for children when feeding the farm animals. We offer hiking and walking trails, horse riding, swimming in pool or river and bird watching [212 species ] Our farm is situated between Oudtshoorn and Calitzdorp, 6 km on the Kruisrivier turnoff. Scenic route from our farm via the foot of the Swartberg mountains to the Cango Caves.

Beatiful cozy old farm house with well equipped kitchen and lots of space. Very friendly host who also provide excellent meals on request. Linen needs some upgrading. I would certainly recommend this lovely guest farm.

Red Stone Hills is the place to go when you want to be out in nature, out of cellphone range (mostly), but still have Internet connectivity. There are great walks for the fit and not so fit, plenty of places to cycle, and a number of attractions nearby. Nearby Calitzdorp has great wine cellars and restaurants. The historic but fully modernised cottages are well spaced, so you have privacy.

A short distance from Route 62, near Calitzdorp leads you to a place of magic! We booked a 1876 Karoo cottage with all the atmosphere you could want! Surrounded by amazing red hills which catch the sunset like a flame! Long walks, baboons calling, and a myriad of bird calls (over 200 species) makes sipping a good red wine beside the fireplace a real treat! Comfy beds, a good sleep and you're ready for more. I can't wait to return!

This was not my first time to stay, and it will definitely not be my last! What an amazing place, and the cottages are extremely well appointed, leaving nothing wanting at all. There are some lovely walks for those wanting a bit of exercise, or you can just sit and chill and watch the baboons or birds.

Grateful you enjoyed your stay at Red Stone hills! Thank you for the compliment on the cottages. All of them were built between 1876 and 1930 with original oregan pine doors, floors and sash windows. Would love to share our beautiful surroundings with you again!
