I was given a gift voucher for Halcyon House and am so happy I was! The location is fabulous - a small seaside village with a fabulous beach. Rooms are lovely, we stayed on the ground floor deliberately so we would have access from our rooms to the pool and beach, and it was lovely. Ground floor rooms have a wall rather than a fence-type balustrade, so they are quite private. the beach is across a lawn and down a short path - right on your doorstep. We ended up not going into the pool, but were on the beach a few times over our two day stay. The room was turned down while we were at dinner and tidied up while we were at breakfast, which was a nice touch. No bath in our room, but the shower was amazing - very powerful. I liked the Evo products as well and will be ordering some of their body lotion as I came home with very soft skin! We also ate at the restaurant and it was fantastic - ignore any poor reviews you find. The food is subtle and elegant, menu was different both nights (acknowledging we might have been lucky there) and we enjoyed everything we ate. We found the staff to be very friendly without being over-bearing, and all seemed to be enjoying themselves. Overall, Halcyon House has a luxurious but relaxed, beachy vibe. We can't wait to go back again!…
We had an extremely disappointing experience with Halcyon House and would not recommend this hotel to anyone. After confirming with reception that should any border restriction be imposed (due to COVID) we could re-schedule the booking, my partner and i booked a 2-night stay. This communication was in writing. A few weeks out from our booking, borders between NSW and QLD closed, preventing travel. As a result, we contacted the hotel to see if our booking could be rescheduled given our inability to travel. Despite the written communication prior, the hotel would not honour this. The customer service we received was beyond disgusting. This service does not reflect the luxury boutique prices you pay. I would highly suggest looking elsewhere.
We stayed on the top floor the rooms are clean and eclectically fitted out. The hotels restaurant is great we particularly liked the breakfast and lunch menu. The beach thats right out the front of the hotel is long and quiet, great surf beach. The hotels pool was pretty busy and small but the beach makes up for it. The hotels wine list used to be better but still ok.
You can feel the relaxed atmosphere of this motel conversion the second you walk in. Luxurious yet understated. Service is always friendly and accommodating. The restaurant is excellent too. The dinner menu is a choice of 4 meals for 4 courses and doesn’t change much from night to night so if you’re there for a few nights it gets a touch repetitive, but all dishes are delicious. The rooms are not huge but definitely spacious enough, with very high ceilings which gives them a good feel. One night we had to stay in the disabled room which I’d recommend avoiding but apart from that I really can’t fault this place. Try a sunset on the headland too, they’ll provide you with a blanket and esky if you need too. Also take a bike and ride down to Kingscliff which is a relaxing 45m ride each way and mostly flat. …
We stayed in the 2 bedroom & it is just wonderful. Large balcony with everything you need, very spacious. Its perfect! The service & staff are very friendly. This was our second visit & we were remembered by Guy - thank you! Great dinners at Paper Daisy & breakfast is made fresh to order. Can't wait to return in 2021!! Cocktails by the pool - delicious.
