Do not stay or eat here on your tour of the tribes. Some rooms have no light or electricity and the toilet has no seat. Also the noise from the restaurant can be heard from the room until very late at night, making it hard to sleep. Also the owner charges you more than double the local price for food. First the waitress said 70 birr for goat soup and injera and then the owner said no, for tourists it's 150 birr, ridiculous. Are local places by the roundabout that will give you a decent price for better food.
Do not stay here! The owner is extremely rude and prejudice. She will try to take advantage of you if you are of a different skin color. This ended in a huge fight where she finally dropped her price, but we do not give business to bad people and we left! Please don't reward people with a lack of morals and stay somewhere else.
well, all the places in Turmi are far from what we expected but we were there to explore, we stayed at other disaster place but prefered to have our morning coffee at Green Hotel well it was a basic Ethiopian coffee but the place is cool and nice in the morning
I stayed here for two nights during a trip through South Omo. To begin - don't expect much from this place. Like so many other budget lodgings in small towns in Ethiopia, is basically one step above camping. Room was very, very basic. Concrete walls, concrete floor, chicken wire for windows, mosquito net over the bed (necessary given volume of mosquitos). Power available via one outlet. No wifi (of course). Toilet/shower were somewhat dirty affairs outside of the room - no hot water available. At night, it was pretty quiet here (nobody was really hanging out/drinking), so I slept fine. Restaurant was basic, nothing to write home about. I can't speak to the problems with tire repair the others have noted - we didn't have any flats, thankfully. Would I stay here again if I was in Turmi? Maybe. I might shop around though, too.…
We stayed one night at the Green Hotel in Turmi and we met very nice people there. As soon as we arrived, they started to take care of us. After an exhausting day, we spent a great evening at the bar restaurant. The rooms are very simple and cheap, they do the job.
This hotel has the only place to repaire tyres in Turmi. The owner of the hotel, a lady of 35 years, charged us 100 birr per tyre to repare. 5 times the normal price. We discussed and paid finally. The next day, the badly repeared tyre had to be repeared again. She refused because of our discussion the day before. These people like to eat the money of the white people like hyenas. To avoid. Otherwise the small lady who made thé was very nice.
