FRB is an ideal place to begin a CR visit. Close to the airport yet far enough from San Jose to feel like it's in the country. Staff were friendly and helpful, and hacienda/ranchito we stayed in was funky cool, clean and very comfortable. Food was excellent although service somewhat slow. The tours were somewhat pricey but we really enjoyed...

Rosa Blanca, set in the central valley of Coast Rica, about 30minutes fromthe airprot and from downtown, is a haven of peace and luxury, with good food (fresh fish in bought in daily from Puntarenas), a decent wine list and - of course - decent coffee. The infiity pool is dreamy. A wonderful palce to overcome jetlag and start a...

Dear Peter... So nice to hear somebody bring up the word peace and luxury in the same sentence, as we to feel that they are intrinsically linked. Surrounded by 35 acres of shade grown forest in organic coffee fields and with incomparable views to the Costa Rican Central Valley below, one is infused with the feeling of tranquility, peace and...

We stayed for 2 nights at the start of our family Costa Rican adventure. It's a charming unique hotel set up above San Jose.. we flew from the uk so it had been a long flight and luckily the Finca wasn't too far from the airport but immediately transformed into another world. It's certainly not a 4/5 star hotel but...

Dear Ally... As with all the guests we have from the UK, and we certainly have a lot, I always empathize with the long flight. However now there seems to be more offerings from some of the other airlines in Europe which should make the trip a little bit easier but I'm always thankful that our guests will only need...

We stayed for only one night and had a fantastic time. The location, room and staff are fantastic. You feel very welcome and you can relax at the pool or jacuzzi or even get spa treatments. The restaurant has lovely food and a fantastic view over San José. A must do is the coffee tour at their own plantation. You...

The Finca is a great place to get acclimatised to Costa Rica, the staff can't do enough to make your visit comfortable. The coffee tour was excellent, its amazing what the Finca does to ensure sustainability. Very smart. The guide Manolo was excellent and engaging. The only negative comment is the driving to the Chocolate tour was really bad and...

Make sure your driver knows how to find the spectacular getaway, the perfect pre- or post- vacation stopover when arriving or leaving from San Jose airport--less than 20 minutes away without traffic. Each room individually named...each with a marvelous view that lights up at night with San Jose and the valley in the far distance. Plantation tours available at a...

Dear Santa Claus 60_12... I'm glad that you took the time to write about our small hotel and that you enjoyed your stay. We name each room because everyone is completely different in layout, style, and artistic attributes. As a result, instead of a number we wanted to give them a name that would identify them based on the particular...

After an 11 1/2 hour flight plus 2 hour delay what better way to start our holiday than a short 40 minute drive to this charming boutique hotel. Dear holidaychicLondon... Wow, 11 1/2 hours flying +2 hours delay is more than most people would be willing to tolerate. My totally empathize and understand how important it is to get to your destination when arriving in Costa Rica and in the case of Finca Rosa Blanca as you mentioned we are only 20 minutes from the international airport. And,...
