Beautiful location and great room. A little damp in the rooms which is the reason for the score of 4 out of 5. Food and hospitality are really good. Coffee plantation tour was the best with a very knowledgeable guide.we have learnt a lot about coffee growing, processing and the varieties etc.

Hola UMuppidi, thank you for taking time to write about your stay, and thanks for the kind comments. We are sorry about the dampness, it is our "green season" here, and we are in the tropics, so the humidity level can be higher than you are used to. Also, we had a small cyclone pass over Costa Rica while you were here, and that added a lot of moisture and rain to it all. Our coffee fields, as you saw, are all forested organic farms, with thousands of trees and beautiful tropical plants growing next to the coffee, which makes it like a National Park. And Ulises, our guide, is a passionate and super knowledgeable coffee expert, which makes the tour not only beautiful and fun, but also very educational about the realities and myths surrounding coffee. Thanks again for writing about your stay!

Finca Rosa Blanca was an excellent start to our 10 days in Costa Rica. We stayed for two nights at FRB, and it didn't feel like enough! We planned this trip on our own without a travel agent. The customer service was incredibly patient and detailed while answering my many (and repetitive) questions before arriving. Our original flight into Costa Rica was cancelled, so we arrived a day late. This changed both our transportation and excursion plans. Once again, FRB was kind, responsive and very helpful as we rearranged our plans at the last minute. The only disappointinf surprise we encountered was the weather and our lack of preparation for it! It was pretty chilly and rainy almost the entire time we were there. Sadly, this meant we didn't get to experience the beautiful pool. (We also wished we would have packed warmer clothes!) We stayed in El Cafetal. The room was beautiful, and the view was fantastic. We loved being on our balcony enjoying coffee during sunrise and really enjoyed the many butterflies and hummingbirds below our room. There were other guests at the hotel, but we hardly knew it. It felt very private and quiet the entire trip. The food and drinks were good. We especially enjoyed the Coffee Connoisseur Dinner. The wine pairings were an excellent compliment and balance to the coffee themed dishes. The pork should was our favorite dish! In addition to the special dinner, we enjoyed the Poas Volcano Tour and the Coffee Tour. Be aware that the weather can significantly impact the viewing of the volcano, and the earlier you arrive, the better. We had an excellent view for just a few minutes before the clouds rolled in. Our guide was very knowledgeable, and we enjoyed hearing about the history of the area, and on our way back from the tour we stopped for local strawberries and cheese. The coffee tour was VERY educational! We love coffee and were surprised by how much we had to learn! The tour concluded with a coffee tasting and then a French press with their house made cookies. We are very grateful to have stayed on such a beautiful property with such a kind staff! Be sure to walk the grounds while you are there! It is beautiful!!

Dear ErinVB1234, thanks so much for such a detailed and positive review. We also appreciate your comments about how easy it is to book with us directly -we have worked on this kind of relationship for over 30 years- and our family who built and still run the inn feel this is a great way to get the most efficient and personalized experience. Also, your comments about our guides is very kind, as this is one of many areas that make for unforgettable experiences: knowledgeable personable local guides who love to educate as well as help you enjoy our unique experiences. Coffee is a major part of our lives and is a major part of Costa Rican culture. Our organic and forested coffee farm is a beautiful "park" teeming with not just our coffee, but also, tropical and beautiful plants, towering native trees, 140 species of birds and so much more that you will see when visiting it. We are so glad you enjoyed it so! Again, many thanks for taking the time to share your experiences and to point out what really were the highlights of your visit. See you next year!

Outstanding and unique hotel, nestled a little away from the city bustle but close to Heredia and San Jose. Great, kind and welcoming service, with beautiful facilities. Love the tico decor and gardens. Restaurant has beautiful views.

Hola Betsynewcomer, thanks for your kind comments, and we are delighted you had such a good time with us. The "tico decor" is important to us- we are Costa Ricans, we are proud of our style and our traditions, and art and craft are extremely important to us. As you noticed, the hotel, restaurant, pool, every room and even the reception areas are filled with murals, artworks and indigenous sculptures. Also, as you mentioned, one of the best attributes of our organic coffee farm is we are nestled into the side of the beautiful "Cordillera Central" mountain range with stunning views of the coffee fields below us all the way to San Jose in the far distance. tha ks again for taking time to share your experiences!

We arrived at our room after travelling 25 hours on the first night of our honeymoon to discover 3 particularly large spiders in our room. We just couldn’t relax in the room so had to leave. When we requested even a partial refund, we were told this is the jungle and this is to be expected. They also claimed to have offered us an upgrade to a suite which just wasn’t true. We were offered a room in the same building with no guarantee it hadn’t the same issue. From our brief experience, the place fell short of the 4.5 rating on Tripadvisor. We have subsequently stayed in other jungle resorts that have been of much higher standard and far surpass this accommodation without any of the same issues.

Dear Mitchellbren, we are very sorry that our experience with us was unsatisfactory. We are in Costa Rica, one of the most biodiverse countries in the word. We are also an organic, forested, coffee farm, which means that there is a robust ecology here, surrounding us with beautiful flora, fauna, birds and sometimes, an occasional insect will find its way into the hotel, but this is uncommon. Our concierge Milton did indeed offer you an upgrade to our Rosa Blanca suite upstairs and, like all our rooms, rarely has any spiders found there. Unfortunately, you were unwilling to even check it out, so there was not much more we could do. I am sorry that your visit was not as you had wanted, and I wish you the best in the future.

My wife and I stayed here at the end of our honeymoon for two nights. I will fully admit, we did not get to totally experience the entire grounds, as it was horrible weather for our stay. I can speak to the decor of the interiors, which was very charming and incredibly unique. If you are someone who enjoys to read and sit in peace and quiet there is a ton of quality spaces. Unfortunately the biggest difficulty we had that tainted our experience was the restaurant. The food is not good, not at all. There are a couple lunch sandwiches that will do the trick but the dinner quality is very lacking for a place as charming as this place is. They need a serious upgrade on the menu/chefs. The "Catch of the Day" was one of the worst fishes I have ever eaten. Extremely overcooked and filled with bones. I feel almost bad saying this because it really is a charming place with very friendly staff - but i have to be honest and the food was just a huge buzzkill.

Dear MattSaraTravel, Foremost congratulations on your marriage, and thank you for coming to stay with us at Finca Rosa Blanca. - I am happy that you found the ambience and artwork so appealing, even if we had such a bad spell of weather while you were here. It is true that the hotel area, the gardens and the pool all have many discreet and private areas in which to connect with the nature that surrounds everything and also to disconnect from the hubbub of everyday life. We designed and built the hotel, villas, pool and all the trails and landscaping to be not only artistic, but also to bring peace. As per your unsatisfactory experience in the restaurant with the quality of the food, I sincerely regret that it was not up to your expectations, and we will, of course, share your comments with the chef and cooks to try to find out how we might improve. Thank you again for taking time to share your experiences and comments with us. I hope you will come back soon and in particular, try our restaurant again, as we normally get such positive responses, and I am pretty sure you will have a much better experience.

We had 2 nights at this beautiful location. We had 2 adjoining rooms to make 1 big villa, with gorgeous views. The grounds, pool staff and restaurant were fantastic. We also did the coffee tour which was so fascinating and a great tour guide. This place was perfect for groups, and couples. I would highly recommend it. X

Thank you, lynsayl2020 for your comments- it was very nicely said, and we are particularly happy you had the opportunity to share the whole villa as a family. The views from the terraces are looking south and beyond, you see the coffee fields of our neighbor, Luis Viquez, who also planted those beautiful palms along the internal road. Our coffee guide, Ulises Zúñiga is an expert not only with coffee and cupping, but also a certified guide and an avid and committed bird watcher, so he is often seen-even on his days off-looking for some 140 species of birds we have here. Thanks again for taking the time to share your experience here. I hope we see you again next year!

Hola Discover828507, thanks for writing and sharing your experiences! It was so nice to read your comments, and we could feel your excitement and satisfaction, which is always our goal! Finca Rosa Blanca is unusual in its design, its focus on art, authenticity and service to our clients (we see our guests as relatives almost). There is so much art and design everywhere, from the myriad murals painted by our friend Oscar Salazar, our collection of local and international art of more than 30 years and the furniture, railings, doors and windows, all built here at the hotel, that pictures are difficult to give one a sense of the coziness and artistic aura that the hotel possesses. Thanks again for choosing our small coffee farm and inn for your stay, and we hope you will return soon to see more of our area, our local culture and to experience many of our activities we offer from our farm.

Dear Travelmamato3, thanks for the comments, we are delighted that you had such a good impression of our hotel, the restaurant and the "touches". We believe that part of a great experience is based on the sum of the details, and we spend a lot of energy on making all of these special and discoverable. I will relay your nice comments about our restaurant, El Tigre Vestido, to our chef, Ricky Reyes, who will be pleased as well that you enjoyed your dining so much. We will be waiting for you when you return!

We had a wonderful tour of the coffee plantation which lasted for 2 hours but went by so quickly. Ulisses was an excellent guide. He was very knowledgeable and amiable. They have resumed the cupping portion of the tour which was great. We also had a very good lunch at the restaurant prior to the tour. The restaurant has a beautiful view of the back garden.

Hola Matt E, thanks for taking time to post this and for coming and spending a few hours in the coffee farm. Ulises is so passionate about coffee (and birds) and the tour gets so much info from him about the plants, the fauna and all the symbiosis that goes on in the forested coffee farm. And being organic, of course everything thrives there. Also, thanks for sharing your experience in the restaurant-actually a lot of the fruit and some greens come from the coffee farm, while most come from our organic greenhouse just steps away from the restaurant, where Chef Ricky Reyes can grab a what he needs and brings it right back to the kitchen. Thank you again for sharing your experiences!

The guide is very knowledgeable and friendly. We learnt a lot. The only disappointment was there was no cupping experience that we were expecting at the end of the tour. I wrote the feedback and the CEO wrote me back right away. I appreciated the quick reply and that’s why I still give 5* review. If you are looking an organic coffee farm tour I would highly recommend Finca Rosa. We took Uber from San Jose it was a reasonable price to get there.

Dear Sunshinelpc, thank you for sharing this, and I am grateful for your understanding and your appreciation of my response to you. As I wrote to you, we were under strict health department guidelines for the cupping part of the tour, but it seems in the next days they will be lifting this, so all can participate in a wonderful and important part of our tour. Thanks again for your understanding and for your nice review!
