It's a very nice rural place. Comfortable, and most of all the service attention is very gentle. The food is good, enough variety to please western and local taste. And the aromatic massage is an extraordinary experience, highly recommended!
We booked to stay at La Folie for 2 nights and ended up staying another night, we liked it so much. The resort, the rooms, the pool were all lovely and well kept. We had the resort to ourselves for part of our stay as Laos is very quiet at the moment. There are bicycles available to explore the leafy lanes and rice fields around the island. The food was excellent - try the fish special in bamboo. The French fries were also addictive! The resort works to provide jobs for the people living on the island and to support projects there. The biggest praise is for the team - all of them looked after us and made sure we were happy and relaxed. They were friendly and great to chat to. I would recommend this place to all.
We spent a lovely 5 nights at this hotel. The staff are wonderful and made the experience so special. It was quiet and relaxing, exactly what we wanted. We really enjoyed bike riding around the island and taking the free boat across to Champasak. Ms Bee in particular was so amazing and made it feel like a home away from home. We plan to return again soon.
It’s absolutely a beautiful place in an island with lovely staff with a very high standard of service. The food in this place was also amazing. I was very impressed by the staff for their service and their willingness to make my stay as pleasant as possible. If you need a peaceful vacation, this is a place to go!!! Thanks bee & Alom!
We came to La Foile for a day tour biking around Dong Deang island. It has a range of accommodations that are built in traditional Laos wooden style house, accommodating 2 -4 people We had a lovely welcome drink and an introduction to the island and different bike routes by the hotel staff. We had a great time riding around in the beautiful village with very friendly and welcoming villagers. We enjoyed a very nice swim and delicious 3 courses meal If I am back to the area, I will definitely stay here
Overlooking the long beach of Don Daeng Island, the lodge is very peaceful and relaxing. The lodges are made entirely of simple wood but well furnished with a nice terrace overlooking Mekong. The swimming pool is beautiful. Excellent welcome with the staff who take care to pick you up with the lodge boat either in Champask or at the pier arriving from road 13. Good food with the possibility of changes from the menu upon advance request. For those wishing to use the bicycles of the lodge it is possible to travel around the island where cars are prohibited. For the more adventurous, the staff transports you by bike by boat to Chapasak to reach the temple of Wat Phu. Thanks to the manager who due to a small problem, then solved, at the swimming pool, not usable on our arrival, offered us a bottle of wine for dinner. Highly recommended for those wishing to spend a few relaxing days.…
Wonderful location and a unique way of arriving by boat and tractor! Lovely rooms and beautiful gardens. Very friendly staff throughout. Excellent food in a lively restaurant, or drinks by tge pool. What's not to like!!
A comfortable lodge style hotel with high standard of rooms, restaurant and spa. Staff very friendly and helpful. The pool would have been better if there had been a small shallow section for children. Complimentary ferry across to main land any time.
Location is perfect! Personel and Staff are very helpfull. Lunch and Diner are perfect, fresh ingtedients from their own garden. You have any demand, they solve it for you. They aranged a scooter for us in Champasak. The boatsman brought us to this shop and helped us. Cycling around the Island is lovely. Very quiet! Diner overprized??? From which planet are you? Reasonable prices for this kind of lodge and location. This is not a guesthouse 3 streets behind the main street
Our stay at this hotel was wonderful from the moment we arrived - by the hotel’s own boat and tractor along the sands, avoiding stray cows and water buffalo. Our lodge was delightful - spotlessly clean and well equipped. But the view was it’s crowning glory. The restaurant and pool area are well organised, beautifully situated and chilled. We couldn’t fault the food or staff. Nothing was too much trouble - equally the boatmen, grounds people and hotel staff were attentive, friendly and good at their jobs. Bee should be mentioned as the most lovely hostess, thoughtful and efficient. Staying at La Folie has induced such relaxation that we feel as though we’ve been here much longer. The island (Mr Mee’s restaurant shouldn’t be missed), the people and the location all add up to a very unique and special place to spend true quality time. …
