The Edge has been part of the Hogsback community for many years and is always our first choice when we want to get away for some time out. Planning ahead and booking timeously is recommended however as it is seldom that one will get accommodation at short notice as this is a popular stop. There are a couple of choices... More

We stayed at this retreat for one night. We stayed in the Over the Edge cottage. R950 a night but you are definitely paying for the view! The cottage is very rustic, with very old-fashioned furniture and a cosy little fire place. The cottage is secluded, romantic and a relaxing little hide away! The kitchen has everything you could possibly... More

The cottages are charming and well equipped; the views from these are stunning. It is well-worth staying a few days longer than perhaps intended to explore the surroundings and the village. The restaurant offers good meals and the bar and other facilities at the Retreat are commendable.

We very much enjoyed our stay at The Edge in one of the garden cottages. Very comfy mini-flat with well-stocked kitchen. Delicious food at the restaurant when we didn't want to cook. Friendly service too! Though it was very cold one night, a wonderful fire in the fireplace helped a lot! We could see that if we went in Springtime... More

Our first visit to Hogsback and everyone recommended we stay at the Edge. We were not disappointed - the rooms were basic but comfortable with plenty of hot water. The staff very friendly and the food and service good. We can heartily pass on our friends' recommendations for anyone visiting Hogsback.

We were just there for a quick walk and a scenery foto op. The maze is quite relaxing and is great fun for the kind especially kids with lots of energy. But be careful there is an edge with a long drop the best of it all was the restaurant the food was tops.

My husband and I visited this beautiful place for the fourth time now. Honestly, it is always wonderful. This quaint mountain retreat is highly recommended. We have visited twice in Summer and twice in Winter. Both seasons have beauty in this place. Unfortunately we have yet to experience the snow that Hogsback is so well known for but we plan... More

We absolutely loved our time at The Edge. We stayed in the Thunderstone Cottage and it was perfect. The little touches were all there from complementary sherry and delicious rusks waiting in the venue to friendly and helpful staff. The raging fire was a perfect antidote to the freezing cold nights. We felt welcome and the staff went out of... More

The Edge has a wide variety of accommodation, and I have found all of them great value over the years. But the top-end Heaven’s Above cottage is something else again. Around R800 per person per night gets you near-perfect solitude, some of the best views in the world from deck and lounge and bath, the kind of room that makes... More

After hiking the Amatola, the Edge was like a 5-star hotel. We stayed there before the hike and after the hike we was suppose to get our rooms after 2, but we were there just after 10 a.m. and they accommodate us on Christmas Day. Excellent service and a real gem in Hogsback. The rooms were clean, comfortable and spacious.... More
