We were unable to get a booking at a nearby hotel in Sandhead and had to stay here whilst our friends were at the other hotel. The hotel plays on the "Faulty Torrs" description - least said the better... The rooms are small but clean and the breakfasts were good - staff friendly enough but although we were sitting in... Unforgettable experience, from meeting a Basil Fawlty lookalike (the owner/manager) to the great home-cooked food and characterful accommodation. This is not your modern forgettable hotel, but rather a throw-back to traditional accommodation, making it a welcome & positive part of the holiday experience.

After arriving from Belfast in the ferry, My husband and I just checked on line to see if there was anywhere available to stay for 1 night nearby, and this Inn showed up. It looked interesting, and when we tried to call to see if the advertised room was still available, we couldn't get through ..(my phone had some issues!),... More

Excellent clean, comfy rooms with good ensuite facilities; great food - big suppers and big breakfasts; very helpful staff; and special welcoming proprietors. A favourite of ours when in the beautiful Rhins O Galloway.

Stayed in the Royal Blue Room, complete with four poster bed. It was tastefully decorated with ensuite facilities, shower only. It is ideally placed in the area for touring the Rhins. The location is quiet and very relaxing. Dinner is served in the bar area or adjoining restaurant and has a substantial menu choice. Helpings are very generous. Breakfast is... More

There are a many criteria that make an overnight stay in a country inn memorable and most enjoyable: a clean and comfortable room with a view, in this case of pastureland and water; the quality the pub/dinning room, in this case a humanly-scaled space clearly frequented and enjoyed not only by visitors but also the town inhabitants; good food, it... A nice small hotel in Stoneykirk near Stranraer. We had an overnight on the way to the ferry. Nice adequate twin room, the evening meal was excellent, and the breakfast was good as well. We were made welcome by the proprieter. As interesting spot - due to the proximity of the gulf stream, almost exotic plants in the gardens of... More

We had a three night break, our second visit, and had a superb break. The owners, Jim and Cindy, are very friendly, as are all the other staff. The hotel has the feel of a country house and the rooms are lovely. Food was excellent, as was the service, and even the weather was fantastic. Hope to go again soon.

A welcome change from a big chain hotel. Friendly service all supervised by mine host Jim. Hotel a little quirky - we stayed in the Pink Room. Nice welcoming lounge bar. Good food, well priced in the evening and an excellent freshly cooked breakfast. Ideal for visiting the Mull of Galloway or whatever. Will certainly return.
