The staff were wonderful and most importantly professional and knowledgeable as well. Do ask them about local restaurants, sightseeing, etc. We loved the free breakfast buffet...it was delicious, fresh and quality food. We got to know locally grown coffee... simply very good & aromatic, as well as homemade pineapple jam. We also tried dinner at the restaurant and it did not disappoint us....try the 'Bangka Bay Bouillabaisse' and 'Nasi Culture Royale'. Highly recommended.
There are great many histories in this hotel. If you are into architectural, this is a great colonial hotel to explore as they preserved many histories and treated it respectfully. Do ask the staff to give you an educational tour of the hotel.
As a solo traveler i was totally at ease there, the sleep quality was good, the room were comfy and clean, early in the morning i slightly hear the church's bell rung which remind me of my Europe trip back in years. The staff are lovely and friendly. Overall i have experienced the finest and the details effort. I am glad that i chosen this hotel over the other one.
Tips, forget not to try 'nasi goreng menumbing' ask the staff to show you best 'martabak bangka jaya?' And the locale kopi tiam
The design was a mixed of modern but does not overwhelm and honor the integrity and charm of the old building. White clean decor, lots of photos of old Bangka makes this place a good stay.
I stayed at the Junior Suite which is quite spacious with comfortable bed and pillow. Great FREE wifi throughout the facility.
They tried to immerse lots of Bangka local ingredients and food in their food and beverage. Its quite rare that hotels pay attention like this.
I also love the location so at night time I can walk to the famous road there for Ase otak2, tofu sui, Anggrek restaurant, etc.
The breakfast is very good, though selection is not much but tasty! Try their baked bread and mie Bangka with homemade soy milk. I ate so much till I gain weight! Lucky it's a buffet otherwise I need to spend so much money on breakfast! The room also come with free minibar (2 small box of Teh Kotak) :)
The negative point of the hotel :
1. Superior room is very small with small bathroom and once you shower, the water spill all over the bathroom.
2. Refill of the breakfast need to speed up, seems like you have to always ask for refill. Like on 1st day, they run out of mie Bangka.
These negative point however did not really bother me, so I will definitely will recommend this hotel and will be come back to stay if I happen to be visit Bangka again.
Breakfast is good. Service is good. Staffs are very friendly and helpful. Location is in the central area.
The room was adequate but a bit too small. Would highly recommend spending a bit more for some more space (especially the bathroom). Also, the restaurant was out of beer which was an unexpected issue, however, they resolved this by serving beer in cans...
For real Bangka snacks (fish cakes) we recommend restaurant Ase not too far away from the hotel. Also, shopping for Bangka batik is a must.
In the weekend the pool is open to non guests, what means 40 people in and around it. Although we got great service to show us the route to the beach, we thought it was too far and moved to another place. (30 min on scooter)
I recommend this hotel if you need to go to the city a few days. For a week of holiday i would find something on walking distance to the beach.
