The main building is what you see in most ads and reviews, the fairy castle building. The main building is set in landscaped grounds with a pool (looking a bit dated) and the restaurant in a separate building, then with the addition of the 10 garden suites also in the grounds. Our room was very large, with a small patio sitting area at the back. It was new, modern and well fitted out. You would find it hard not to like it The two negative points about the hotel, were : firstly there reception was terrible. No warmth of welcome, no effort to explain anything about the hotel And the breakfast was poor for a 5 star hotel. In a pokey basement room with no view, and a pretty average buffet even in a lesser hotel But you have probably booked here to eat in their Michelin Restaurant. There is little in the town, we walked around the windy streets without finding much of interest.…
The main building is old, but naturally restored to high standards which really looks great. There are additional rooms in newer, but good looking style next to the main one. Pool area is great and I am sure it is well served in peak periods. In low peak periods I would recommend to make a call function available at the pool desk, so you do not have to walk back to reception to ask for service. Generally the service is excellent and especially the waiter at the restaurant is top notch. The tasting menu was fantastic - especially if you like fish etc. Excellent wine list, but we decide to go for the wine menu composed for the tasting menu and was not disappointed - lots of local good stuff. We would love to come back, but normally we travel with our 2 dogs and unfortunately this place does not allow. A pity as we pass by several times a year. Great place, you will not be disappointed. By the way the breakfast was also fantastic!!…
We had the romantic pack. All the personell was especially friendly. The room a bit dark but what I missed was a place to sit. We got a free glass of cava, but had to sit on the bed. In a 5 star hotel I expect at least a nice table with to chairs. The bathroom was big with a shower and a bath tub - but again no place to leave a glass or a book. The spa is little, but organized - not more than 2 rooms at the same time. Nevertheless I missed a shower next the whirlpool, to enter clean. And maybe some towels .... to get there, if you are lucky 😒 you can stay as memory on a wedding picture .... we had to pass by the ceremony in our bathrobe. If you go there just because of the restaurant ... get another hotel.
Hotel and garden are beautiful and nicely decorated. Far from being a relaxing place, on weekends they host weddings and first comunions, and more than one at the same time. There is people everywehere, you can’t relax even in the swimingpool because the area is used to set tables for the event. Same problem with the restaurant, awfuly slow when they host other events. The spa area is a small jacuzzi and a sauna, do not expect a spa with a relaxing indoor swimingpool. The good point is that the bed is really comfortable. Just try to go there on winter time. Then there will be no big celebrations.
This is quite the loveliest place we have visited in some time. The food was divine, the service excellent and it was, not something one associates with a Michelin’s starred restaurant, value for money - although that is not really the point. I had a dessert of chocolate which paid homage to the fig tree that was a work of art. Friendly, clever and welcoming it was an experience to treasure
