Stayed midweek for one night. Its a lovely building - old and quirky. Lovely grounds. Would like to stay in the summer. Room was lovely - huge and with beams. Very well appointed. Food was lovely. Staff were friendly. Only complaint is the wifi was awful. I wasn't told anything about the password protected wifi so tried to use the... More

The website is better then the experience. Maybe I was just unlucky but I had the last room in the hotel that was on its and not connected to the main building. The outer door to the room had a broken window, the TV only had 5 Chanels working and the remote was dead and it was a little shabby... More

My partner and I stayed for two nights in The Jane Austen Room along with our 4 year old Jack Russell. The room was very large, a very comfortable bed, a nice hot shower and everything we needed. My only criticism is that we were unable to open the windows at all which was disappointing but there was a very... More

We have been using the Bodkin regularly since initially going there on a Groupon deal. I personally am not keen on the bar but that's probably just me. However the lounge and dining room are both lovely and relaxing. The food is always excellent and superbly presented. Possibly the coffee could do with upgrading. Lucy is lovely and very welcoming.... More

I can understand the mixed reviews having spent a night here recently. The room was lovely and very comfortable but the initial greeting wasn't as cordial or friendly as you would expect. We had a lovely meal but the young waitress seemed a little overwhelmed and the owners seemed like they would rather be doing something else like enjoying their... More

I have visited the Bodkin on various occasions for both dinner and lunch. We have had mixed experiences with dinner having had one excellent meal and one very poor one. The lunches have been very good and very well priced. I have had the fish and chips twice and it has been very good. Thep Bodkin is a family owned... More

We stayed here for a couple of nights while visiting the area. The owner, Don and his staff were very friendly and welcoming. Our room, Mary Shelley, was very lovely and spotlessly clean. Our bed was very comfortable and we both had the best nights sleep for a long time! We had breakfast and dinner both days, and everything that... More

We stayed in the family room which was beautiful. It had all the charm of an old building but with a modern touch. Very clean and staff lovely. The grounds are very pretty and even had a small play area to tire out my son. The cost was good for the room and the breakfast cooked fresh and piping hot.... More

Booked last minute at the Bodkin and arrived early evening , the lady owner showed us to our room named Jane Austen. Large double fronted bedroom with double bed not king size, nice modern and clean bed linen , secondary glazing so unable to open windows but room facing main road so can be noisy but not when we stayed....
