Nestled in a peaceful location, Sunsuri Phuket is celebrated by many for its prime setting close to beaches and local attractions. Guests commend the hotel for its varied amenities and acknowledge the value it provides, despite some expectations of a more luxurious experience. While opinions on the ambiance are divided, with some finding the decor lacking, the service at Sunsuri Phuket consistently earns high marks for its attentive and friendly staff. The cleanliness is notable; however, the rooms receive mixed reviews, with some suggesting they could benefit from an update.

Before we travelled, we read quite a few reviews and fair to say, they were usually honest. We arrived to be welcomed to an easy check in with a coconut ice lolly and very friendly staff before our luggage was taken to a well appointed (and thankfully air conditioned) room (3305) with the biggest bed I've ever slept in! The room had a waterfall shower, balcony, Netflix, sofa, table, kettle, fridge, desk, phone, in fact all you could really wish for so we were happy. Top tip, there is a control panel behind the bed head to call for room service to clean your room whilst you're out which is very handy. We were however 152 steps away from the hotel lobby; fine going down, not so much coming back up, BUT having seen several negative reviews regarding this, it is fair to point out that a FREE shuttle bus operates to take you back up the hill from the lobby! Phew! The view was also pretty awesome over the lagoon across to the sea.
The hotel pool is a series of interconnecting pools, complete with a jumping platform and comfortable shaded area with large cushions and a poolside bar which was very comfortable, however the poolside glass is in desperate need of jet washing as it looks grubby. Free towels are provided.
Food; we stayed half board which was a mistake as food is so cheap to buy off site. It was also a little repetitive, with set menus (Thai and Western) for the evening meals, so if you didn't like it, choices were limited. Breakfast was reasonable, with freshly cooked omelettes, pancakes, doughnuts and noodles available, but the staples (eggs, sausage, and others) left under warmers were at best lukewarm. Theme nights broke up the menu and I have to say ALL staff both within the restaurant and hotel were superbly polite, attentive and a pleasure to interact with.
A free shuttle bus also took guests to the beach and back, taxis and trips could be arranged from the lobby, there is also a kids play room, well equipped gym, some evening entertainment and of course the spa (we didn't use it, so I can't comment).
To summarise; although advertised as 5*, the Sunsuri probably is better scored as 3-4*. Let down only slightly by the food, it does show patches of wear and tear (rust marks on metalworks, glass fittings need a jet wash and some litter within the grounds) BUT overall we had a VERY pleasant holiday. The room was very good, the staff superb, a five minute walk to the beach, so would I recommend it? Yes, if you want attentive staff, peace and quiet, and rock hard buns after climbing several thousand stairs over a two week period!

We have not long been back from our absolutely amazing trip to Phuket and staying at the Sunsuri.

This is by far one of my favourite hotels I have ever stayed in and would love to return one day.

The hotel is in a unique placement on the hill side which gives fantastic views across Nai Harn lake, the Wat Nai Harn Temple, and the hills on the other side of the valley.

The hotel is comfortable, modern extremely clean with very friendly staff.

The hotel has a unique swimming pool complex, with a nice pool bar area and under cover seating.

The buffet breakfast was fresh, plentiful with all tastes and types catered for.

The only downside, which is no fault of the hotel, was no evening atmosphere at the bar or restaurant, I'm assuming this is because of the time of year for our visit.

Our plan was to eat out everyday anyway but was an observation we made.

Our room was cleaned with fresh towels and drinking water everyday.

Due to the landscape the hotel is built on, rooms are up a steep climb, stairs and lifts. The hotel provides, golf cars and tuk tuk style vans as and when needed, we would walk down and buggy up. This service is also available to take hotel guests to and from Nai Harn beach.

The main thing to note about the hotel and the hotels location, Nai Harn is a smaller quieter town compared to the busier locations like Kata, Karon and Rawai.

We chose this location for the beach (i surf) and for the hotel itself. Its only 20 minuets in a taxi to the busier locations, night life and night markets, which we did most days.

Overall if your a family or a couple, seeking a modern, clean and quite stay in Phuket that is located by a stunning beach that's a short drive to all the hustle and bustle of the busier towns then i highly recommend Sunsuri.

Beautiful hotel, peaceful, shady accommodation. All staff are smiling and attentive to service. Our group traveled with the elderly. The staff helped go up and down the stairs and get in and out of the car very well. There is a shuttle service from the lobby to the room 24 hours a day, convenient for the elderly.

Clean, spacious rooms with complete amenities. The hotel has even taken care to prepare power strips for guests who have a lot of devices that need to be charged, so they don't have to scatter plugs in various places. Makes it difficult for us to find things. (rarely seen in other hotels)

The hotel swimming pool is divided into several zones. Make each zone of the pool not too crowded. Can easily swim the length of the pool. Children love it.

Dinner at the hotel was delicious. Pork Hong is a must-try menu.

There is a kids room, but our family doesn't use it because the kids are older.

The hotel is convenient to enter and exit. Near the windmill viewing point. Less than 10 minutes by car, close to Nai Harn Beach, beautiful beach, beautiful sea. The hotel has a shuttle to transport guests from the hotel to the beach. Or we can drive ourselves in less than 5 minutes. There is parking near the beach, convenient.

The beach is 5 minutes away by buggy, or 10-15 minutes on foot, buggies leave every hour.
The beach is dirty: used condoms were lying at the entrance, they were not cleaned for 3 days, maybe more, we didn’t see them again.
There are rooms in more or less normal buildings, such as S1,2 and terrible ones: on the mountain, walking back and forth during the day is quite tiring, especially for older people. It is generally difficult to get to buildings S7, S8: you need to overcome about 2 floors on foot, then 4 floors by elevator, and then 2-3 floors again by stairs.
The cleaning of the rooms is disgusting. We had to beg for a change of bed linen; by default, bed linen is not changed daily; after asking for a change, sometimes they pretend not to understand, sometimes they turn it over and pretend that it has been changed. The towels are not supplied in full, there are always different quantities: sometimes one is missing, sometimes another.
Water, in addition to what is left in the room, is only available for a fee.
There is nothing in the restaurant for breakfast, much less during the day. The restaurant looks shabby: dirty cushions on the chairs, table settings without napkins.
There are no programs for adults or children at the hotel.
This is not a five star hotel, it's a three star hotel!
In a five-star hotel, at a minimum, they change linen daily and do not skimp on towels for Guests

We had a mixed impression of Sunsuri Phuket. The hotel is a bit old and in some places would urgently need a renovation, especially in the pool complex there the color of the terrace and also that of the walls to the hotel would have to be renewed. We can't say anything about the loungers by the pool because we didn't use them. We had a private pool villa, this was large, clean and basically fine, however the bed was a bit hard and the large bathroom very dark. Also, the air conditioning was very noisy. However, the private pool in our villa was a real highlight – beautiful and a great retreat!

The service was friendly, as you are used to in Thailand. Breakfast was generally rather manageable, and for a five-star hotel, there was a lack of choice and quality as well as services.

A big downside was the bikes that the hotel offered for rent. Many of them were in a desolate state, and especially the broken brakes made driving dangerous.

The location of the hotel was good, everything important was within walking distance. The beach in particular inspired us – crystal clear water and clean sand made it a real highlight.

Conclusion: Sunsuri Phuket is not a five-star hotel. However, with renovations and improvements, it could be a great resort, especially because of the gorgeous beach and private pools.

This was home base for our 4 day stay in Phuket and while we didn't spend a lot of time at the hotel, we did enjoy our stay. The staff was great and very friendly. The breakfast buffet was well stocked and the food was delicious. I have read a few reviews and they say the rooms are dated. Our was good. Clean and very comfortable. We had no issues. The rooms are large. The property and building sit on a hillside and the front desk has vehicles to help you get your luggage and yourself up to your building if you want. We were in Building 1 and usually walked up. If there was one disappointment, it was that the pool closed at like 7 pm. so after a long day of site seeing and hoping to hop in the pool, it was actually closed. The beach is a short 5 minute walk away. We needed to do some laundry and found Beluga Wash about 5 minutes away from the hotel. Four wash and dry with laundry soap i think we spent about $15 for 2 loads. Lots of restaurants within a 10 minute ride. We used the app Grab, which works just like Uber. Cheap and fast. Yes, the resort is a bit dated, but it was fantastic and we would stay there again.

The rooms are old, there's smell from the toilets, the air conditioning is noisy and often not working, called electricians! Rooms are cleaned very badly from the word altogether! No appliances, they asked for an hour! Now for the good, the pool is nice, clean! Breakfasts are good, then at the end of the stay they canceled a good breakfast and fried bacon eggs like that! Explained no people are not profitable! Pang Tata waiters are on top of the best!!! Daniel is a very nice and pleasant man at the reception! Always helps and communicates with people!!! But I'll say it again! For the money we lived for in the off-season hotel normal!

The reception team at the Sunsuri are the loveliest! So friendly and helpful and made our stay so enjoyable.

The actual hotel however was disappointing. The whole hotel is tired and in need of a refresh / painting / update. Our first room was dark and depressing and not what we were expecting. The housekeeping standard was not up to scratch and we found cobwebs on the walls in the first bedroom. The team kindly moved us to a new room which was more of the standard we expected with a nicer view, however the general decor is very tired everywhere. The rooms are dark especially in the bathrooms and the public areas need repainting or brightening up.

The breakfast is pleasant with good coffee, but the selection could be better for a 5 star hotel.

The showers in the rooms are good and I would recommend the location if you want to be away from the noisiness of Rawai beach. Overall a nice hotel that needs updating!

We have just returned from a wonderful relaxing 7 day break staying at Sunsuri. It is 65-75 minutes away from Phuket airport as it is down the southern end of the island, but what paradise. This is our 5th time to Thailand but by far our most relaxing holiday and no doubt our 1 bedroom pool villa helped with that. We had a view of the mountains, partial view of the ocean which was incredible.
We were in our villa pool several times a day as it is just outside our door and private. Thoroughly recommend spending the extra money and getting your own pool.
The pool and room was cleaned daily and our room #9507 was very modern and clean. Brilliant air con and king bed was ‘comfy as’ once I got them to put another layer under us (all beds in Asia are hard as)

The only downside (I have to honest and it is only our opinion) is the food. It is adequate but not brilliant. We ate most meals off site at ‘sea breeze cafe’, which Sunsuri has a partnership with. They were amazing!!!

the spa centre was a highlight and particularly May and Oil who we requested for all our massages.

A shuttle van takes you down and back to the beach every hour and we made the most of this service. Also if you don’t like walking you can get the shuttle van to your room and not feel bad or lazy for doing it.
We did a cooking class with their team which was 3 courses and a lot of fun and very cheap and we got to eat our cooking. Thoroughly recommend.
We were there at the start of wet season which is low season so it is very quiet. Most of the visitors are Russian and Asian. (Aussies not here??)
All the staff were incredibly helpful from arrival to departure. We definitely want to return, as this is a brilliant place if you are coming to relax.

We started our 6 week vacation from this hotel and it was the right decision! Quiet, calm! There are few people in the hotel (I was on holiday with 2 daughters (9 and 12 years old). Excellent breakfast! Friendly staff, transportation to the room/beach, bicycles available. We really liked the hotel, especially the pool area with a tower and a slide.
Now about the infrastructure: there is 7/11, a couple of cafes on the beach (one from the hotel, the second on both sides (same name). There is a fruit stand on the beach, but sometimes it was possible to catch farmers who sold fruit cheaply from a car near 7/11. There is an exchanger nearby, but you can go behind 7/11 up the hill, there are also many cafes and there are exchangers, then there are 3 more 7/11 stores, well, this is where we were able to get to with the children and ride on bikes. on the beach the prices are the same as at the hotel, so it’s more comfortable to have a snack by the pool and go to dinner at the hotel. The beach is small, there are waves in the summer, but during our stay (May 26-June 3) there was always a place for swimming; the lifeguards moved the flag depending on the weather. waves.
About breakfast: great! Menu of eggs, soups, fruits, fresh juices! We had enough of everything 🤗
Very friendly shuttle drivers, always in a good mood, all the staff are well chosen! Starting from security at the entrance to the hotel!
There is a temple nearby.

It's 25-30 minutes from hotel to Phuket Town. The best and convenience way to go by taxi and it's cost around 500-750 THB per way for 2 person sharing

O so sorry just see your question. 🫣 6 min drive with Moterbike you can find plenty of restaurants. Or 5 min walk there are some restaurants at the beach.

About one hour with taxi. The hotel can help you with transport if you want, or just crab a taxi at the airport.
