Excellent food, excellent accommodation and excellent hosts Have stayed at the hotel four times and enjoyed every moment. Would advise anyone travelling to St Pol. Ser Ternoise to try The Golden Lion.

Passing by and looking for somewhere to eat in St Pol, we found this welcoming Hotel with a restaurant. Good welcome and help was given translating some of the menu into English for us. The decor in the restaurant was warm and rustic with beams, reminding me of a ski restaurant. Meals are good value, and three course meals for... More

We stayed at the Au Lion d'Or after our first choice biker B&B locally was unavailable. The couple that run the hotel are lovely and very welcoming and the guy Dan speaks English which was a relief and helped. There is a garage at the rear which was the clincher as we were on a motorcycle trip although after day... More

11 May 2015. A bit run down but comfortable and we received a warm welcome from the proprietress. The breakfast was top class, all freshly baked. On being asked, she told us that she made all the four jams that were available at breakfast, they were delicious. we did not dine there.

The food was excellent and at a very good price. Should I be in that part of France again I would make a point... More

We did not stay in this hotel but dined here when staying in the area. We were a large group so for simplicity we all chose from their set menu which was very reasonable (12 or 15 euros for all three course from memory) I had the House Pate to start, followed by the Chicken Suprise (a beer & pepper... Travelling to Calais, this makes a convenient midway stop across northern France. The owner could not have been more helpful, putting our car safely away in a barn and covering it with a plastic sheet to prevent pigeons messing it up. The room was adequate, but a bit dark partly because of a missing bedside light bulb. We had an... More
