I booked two reservations direct through the hotel for this resort in September of 2020 for February 2021. One week before our flight Bahia Principe emailed that our reservation was cancelled due to Covid. I had to scramble to find another hotel for our flights. That was the worst of it though. We had deposit on our 100% cancellable reservations. No one answers the customer service phone or email for this company. It’s been over two months, I was told over the phone two months ago I would receive a refund for both cancelled reservations. I still have not or have been able to get any one to answer my emails or calls. I have opened a dispute with my card and since only gotten one of the refunds. Still no one responds as I am still missing one refund for the other reservation which was on a different credit card. Horrible customer service. I wish I had gone through Expedia and not had this terrible headache. Hopefully now someone will get back to me about a refund for a reservation they cancelled.…
We look for really unique Caribbean vacations, and this definitely was one we’ll never forget. Cayo was such a beautiful island. We loved our room in the main building with a patio the size of another entire room. The staff was lovely and really went above & beyond to ensure we were taken care of. The food was great, especially in the evenings at the variety of restaurants. We enjoyed snorkeling and scuba diving, walking the property, meeting cool people and relaxing on the gorgeous beach. You definitely feel like you’re off the beaten path on your own private island. It was romantic & serene, also fun to take part in evening activities and hit up the beach bar at the public beach at night for drinks, music & dancing. Not sure how anyone could say a negative word about this place, to be honest. We shall return one day to make more memories and would love to bring our kids here as well.…
We traveled in July 2019 as a group of 9. Loved everything! Clean and friendly staff. They made you feel very welcome. Even the lifeguard made sure we were well on drinks and snacks! Drinks were great. Food was great. Rooms are very comfortable. Loved all their entertainments. They included all ages. Both private and public beach are beautiful. Will definitely visit again!
I have been on a quest to find the most stunning beach to relax on for me, and good diving for my husband. We stayed at a beach front villa, and the beach and view did not disappoint! The room was spotless, and due to the beach being under repair after a storm, only three villas were being used, so the location was quiet. Just not private. We expected lots of food traffic during the day, but at night the "romantic tub" was in in full view (and had no hot water), so do not expect privacy. I would recommend for those looking for a nice and quiet relaxing vacation; sun-seekers, whale watchers, maybe small groups. Not the most ideal for those who need tons of activities to keep them entertained. The grounds were unbelievably well cared for - the staff should be proud! My only note to management would be to take better considerations of food allergies; we emailed ahead and still were not able to confirm our needs until the second evening.…
I loved everything about this hotel. Everyone was so nice. The employees were perfect. So attentive and friendly. The food amazing. I ate so much. So flavorful and so many options. The beach perfect. Best hotel !
We just returned from a two week vacation at Bahia Levantado and it was amazing. The staff were incredible and the resort exceeded our expectations. Special mention goes to Omar pinales escare at the pool bar, fana Batista at reception and Juan working as a grounds keeper at the upper pool bar. The food was amazing, especially enjoyed the don pablo restaurant. We enjoyed that there were always loungers by the pool available anytime of the day. The grounds were beautiful and the whale watching was amazing ( take binoculars as we could see them from our own balcony)Most relaxing vacation ever. We stayed in the main building with a large balcony overlooking the ocean. The room was beautiful and the maid service was excellent. The nightly shows were great and usually ended around 10:30 or 11 pm. The Santo Domingo coffee is to die for ( we brought 4 bags home). If you like the hustle and bustle of other resorts this is not for you however if you want pure relaxation this is the place to go. i highly recommend this resort.…
Hello, I never write a comment on the places I visit, but there I have to do it. We are a group of 6 and went from March 22 to 28, 2020. Only the beach which disappointed us all, we had excellent service throughout the week. I would like to thank the employees at the main buffet for exceptional service during our visit especially Carolina, Candido, Ester and Louis-Alberto. On the other hand, I would like to extend a special thank you to Daniel Fermin who allowed us all to live an experience worthy of the biggest hotels around the world with his quality of service. Thanks Daniel! "Excelente" Yves.
Hi Everyone, We just returned from a week's vacation at Bahia Principe Cayo Levantado, all that I can say is that it exceeded our expectations! We stayed in the main hotel. Had a huge room with a balcony bigger then my kitchen! Our room was spotless. Some reviews state no hot water but we always had hot water. While we were in the hotel near the stage, the shows ended around 10pm so we never had any noise issues. Due to the hurricane a while back, the hotel is making improvements to the private beach which sustained some damage. It did not take away from our experience. There were always chairs available, great towel service, great drink service and amazing complimentary water services such as ocean kayaks, paddle boards and a small catamaran. A beautiful view and a quiet restful place. The public beach is beautiful. Since I am not a people person we avoided the beach between 10am-5pm as the whale tour excursions finished their day there. There is a great party atmosphere on the public beach for sure. The food was delicious and plentiful! Buffet nights for us were Thursday and Saturday. Lots of seafood and beautiful service. We did some at all four restaurants. Don Pablo was superior in its service, quality of food and presentation. When I go back I will book Don Pablo four times if possible so I could try all the menu options. The Brazilian restaurant Rodizio had great energy, an amazing signature drink and fantastic meat. The main desk permits you to exchange your large American bills for dollar bills. Which was great so that we could say thank you to all the amazing people who went out of their way to make our stay wonderful. If I could offer advise to those of you going: 1. Bring binoculars to view the amazing birds and whales off in the distance. 2. Bring a blow up noodle from the dollar store, thank you to Josie from Montreal for giving us hers! 3. Bring a pen to fill out the customs forms on the plane, at the airport and again on the plane. 4. You will NEED water shoes at the private beach, after the hurricane there are tons of broken seashells and an undertow so getting in and out of the water is a challenge. 5. Bring the provided umbrella to dinner as it might shower. The grounds are lush and honestly I felt like I was in the rain forest. We went for evening walks every night, there are NO BUGS...not one...now lots of little lizards but seriously no bugs. The grounds are a work out! If walking and hills are not your thing there is provided transportation. I also loved the fact that the greeting hostess at the buffet and every restaurant provided each guest with hand sanitizer. Five stars, an amazing experience, thank you! …
We went to Cayo-Levantado for a one week stay, we a family of four. We had two wonderful rooms, very spacious and with big balconys with a lovely view over the ocean and surroundings. The cleaning worked out perfectly. The beds were a little bit to hard for us but it wasn’t really a big problem. We had the butler service and our own butler Manuel who provided us with great service. The food was great, a big variety at the buffet, which was actually the best restaurant. The theme restaurants were also good, especially the Brazilian restaurant Rodizio who offered some nice meet. All restaurants had friendly and service minded staff. The private beach was beautiful and the water was lovely. Not so very clear though because of wind and waves. We tried snorkeling from the beach but we really didn’t see much. Bathing shoes can be good to have because there’s lots of shells and corals when you walk in the water, but then there’s mostly sand. We went with Scubaquatic with a boat to a coral reef near the island and also to a shipwreck outside the island where we saw a lot of beautiful fishes an corals in the clear water there. We had a great time with the entertainment staff as well, and a special thanks to Edwin and Yery for making the days extra funny! Hope to see you all again!…
I have now been to this resort twice and both times have been very pleased with my stay. Prior to heading out this time, I had read reviews claiming this place was going downhill or not up to snuff, I certainly disagree. I find this place to be a truly unique experience compared to the rest of the carribean resorts in that it is isolated on it's own island which makes it significantly quieter and more relaxing than most of the other larger resorts down south. I also enjoy that because it is more intimate you get more time to meet the other guests and the resort staff have a chance to get to know you as a person instead of as a number. A few quick hints though: 1) Don Pablo is for sure the better of the restaurants so make sure to add it to your restaurant list (book ahead of vacation time), 2) Book a whale watching tour while there, because it is where they go to mate the action is like nowhere else (Kim Beddall Whale Watching tours are the best) 3) If in a group or travelling as a pair, private ground transportation to and from the airport can be arranged through the resort and is reasonable. The trip is an hour each way so you want to consider your comfort. 4) Strongly consider spending a little extra to stay in the suites and not in the main resort building, they are buried in the jungle and have a more secluded feel.…
