I stayed for 5 days and wish I stayed for a year. My friends and I (late 20s) were in awe throughout our stay at Vik Chile. Tucked in the middle of beautiful green valleys, the property has something for everyone. The architecture, interior design, and art was one of a kind. We took hikes, rode horses, played paintball, and laid by the pool. All of the food is sourced locally -- one night we got a tour of the Vik garden and even had the chance to make our own meal under the stars amidst the vineyard. I can't express enough how special this experience was!
If you’re seeking a high-end, design forward wine country stay in Chile for a 2-3 nights stay within a reasonable drive from Santiago, Vik Chile/Puro Vik (name distinction for the 7 glass houses) is worth considering. Vik Chile is as much a museum as hotel, the pool’s great, food is sound, and the wine is amazing. Many of the rooms and the design overall isn’t for traditionalists. I loved both their white and red, but if you like more a range of wines that’s a challenge as they don’t offer much beyond their own few wines (although I’ve heard that’s changing). If you’re looking for more of an active place they do offer excursions, however the hiking and horseback riding after doing so in Patagonia for us was underwhelming even with managed expectations. Based on this a B&B rate stay rather than all inclusive may prove to be the better value for many. Room tips: For main room category request main level as opposed to lower level. Same price, better access and views. For normal suites I prefer Chile or Abelli. Norge is more neutral in decor and solid views If wanting a master suite (corner room so 2 walls of windows) I do not suggest the Hermes (view of pool reduces privacy) or the Shogun (not great views and very particular taste). Best option is Gablers Grisaille. The Lodge is a great option for a larger multi-generational group. Ins and Outs: Yoga and paintball are fun extra activities on offer, but if of interest request in advance to your stay to ensure your ability to do. Pro’s Glass houses really romantic which was great for ten year anniversary Coolest bathroom and tub imaginable! Incredible design perfect for my art loving wife Feels like being part of a living museum Best pool I’ve ever experienced in Chile Incredible wine Very solid wine tour of their winery Amazing spa Con’s Service was fun and kind, although not as polished as some would look for in 5 star As opposed to say Aplata Residence, it’s not easy or included to visit any neighboring wineries A bit more driving then Colchagua area which shortens 2N stays, so works best at end of trip where you fly out at night so you get more of a full day on departure day The ‘Master Suites’ don’t always have a significantly better view and one loses some privacy from pool goers. If wanting higher category room I personally prefer the Puro Vik glass houses. Ultimately a really unique property great for modern design lovers. Traditionalists looking for smaller property might prefer Apalta Residence at Lapostolle.…
Great relaxing atmosphere. Nice tour. Great food and even better wine. Nice views too. Mountain bike in good condition. Horse back riding tour and guide were excellent. Also offer free duty and shipping for wine purchases to the U.S. !
I had been wanting to go here for a number of years. On arrival at the gates I thought it was all that I was expecting but I am afraid that ultimately it was a disappointment. Arriving at the gates in a beautiful valley and looking up at the hotel on the hilltop, it is absolutely fabulous. On entering the hotel it is very well designed and the open air atrium garden is delightful and the views to the East and West of the valley are lovely. These all met my expectations of what I thought would be a luxurious five star hotel, unfortunately this was not what I experienced for the rest of the stay. The service was just ok, and was mostly by young staff who whilst pleasant were not well supervised or trained. As a result, other than for the young Maitre D, they couldn't tell you about the food or the wine (very surprising) and any question about the area or what the hotel could offer was a bit of a trial. The rooms were more ordinary than I expected with the odd design feature (we were in the Vicky Money room (suite would be over stating it)). The wardrobe doors looked to be made of MDF and scraped along the floor. The plus points were that the size was reasonable and the window filled the wall and you could slide them open similar to a patio door to enjoy the views of the valley. If on this floor, I wouldn't take a room further back to the East as the view will be less. The hotel faces East and West which means in the evening the low sun is directly into your face at the restaurant balcony which makes having a pre-dinner drink there unpleasant. To get a drink meant hunting for service as there was no-one around. If you decide to have a drink facing East, the view from the chairs is interupted by unkept bushes (see photo). The pool faces West so gets the majority of the sun but there is insufficient space if the hotel is busy and it felt cramped. Also the service by the pool is best described as sporadic. The food was decidedly average for the apparant quality and price of the hotel. The price of a beer is astronomical even for a 5 star hotel. On pricing, I overheard them wanting to charge a couple $50 to have a tour of the winery (surely as a guest that should be complementary). It is a nice hotel with some great design features in a lovely setting but the quality and level of service falls short of what you would expect at a 5 star boutique resort and is less than you would expect at 5 star chains. Overall, there was nothing wrong with the hotel; it and the price just feel well short of expectations. At half the price I would be giving it a much better rating.…
My husband and I loved our two-night stay at Viña Vik...we wished we could have stayed longer as it was the perfect last stop on our two week Chilean vacation. The property is so beautiful and unique...an art lover’s paradise. We were in the Chile room, which was designed beautifully and our view of the vineyards beats any we’ve had in Napa Valley...very special to have huge remote-controlled blinds to reveal the view when you wake up in the morning. Our third horseback riding excursion in Chile was at Vik and was our favorite. Nanu has skillfully trained the beautiful horses and could not have been nicer. We also loved our wine tasting excursion with Claudio...very intimate and educational. There are many options for hiking or biking around the property. The views from the restaurant are breathtaking...even though the lake has sadly dried up due to climate change and resulting drought. The food was quite good but we wished they offered more options at dinner (especially limited for anyone with a food allergy). The staff was very friendly, especially Bruno. Special shout out to restaurant server Flavia, who provided great service. Our only criticism was that the hotel doesn’t have a bar area...very surprising for a winery that we couldn’t get a drink or glass of wine outside of the limited restaurant hours (also, we realized at checkout that full board does not include cocktails??) That being said, we really enjoyed our stay and highly recommend Vik!…
