Vik Chile is comprised of 22 luxurious suites in a glass and golden titanium sculptural building plus a collection of 7 glass houses, both situated on a hilltop boasting breathtaking 360-degree views of the 11,000 acre Viña Vik Vineyard and surrounding nature. Nestled in a magnificent vineyard in a terroir known by the natives as Millahue, the “place of gold”, so named for its nature, beauty, diversity and the gold found in the area... and now for the VIK wine. Located just two hours from Santiago in the central area of Chile, Vik Chile and Viña Vik Winery are the perfect place to relax in a tranquil atmosphere at the renowned Wine Spa. Enjoy the exceptional climate with warm sunny days and cool crisp evenings from September through May. Vik Chile and Viña Vik Winery are the perfect setting for company retreats or events, weddings and other social gatherings.
If you’re seeking a high-end, design forward wine country stay in Chile for a 2-3 nights stay within a reasonable drive from Santiago, Vik Chile/Puro Vik (name distinction for the 7 glass houses) is worth considering. Vik Chile is as much a museum as hotel, the pool’s great, food is sound, and the wine is amazing. Many of the rooms and the design overall isn’t for traditionalists. I loved both their white and red, but if you like more a range of wines that’s a challenge as they don’t offer much beyond their own few wines (although I’ve heard that’s changing). If you’re looking for more of an active place they do offer excursions, however the hiking and horseback riding after doing so in Patagonia for us was underwhelming even with managed expectations. Based on this a B&B rate stay rather than all inclusive may prove to be the better value for many.
Room tips: For main room category request main level as opposed to lower level. Same price, better access and views. For normal suites I prefer Chile or Abelli. Norge is more neutral in decor and solid views If wanting a master suite (corner room so 2 walls of windows) I do not suggest the Hermes (view of pool reduces privacy) or the Shogun (not great views and very particular taste). Best option is Gablers Grisaille. The Lodge is a great option for a larger multi-generational group.
Ins and Outs: Yoga and paintball are fun extra activities on offer, but if of interest request in advance to your stay to ensure your ability to do.
Pro’s
Glass houses really romantic which was great for ten year anniversary
Coolest bathroom and tub imaginable!
Incredible design perfect for my art loving wife
Feels like being part of a living museum
Best pool I’ve ever experienced in Chile
Incredible wine
Very solid wine tour of their winery
Amazing spa
Con’s
Service was fun and kind, although not as polished as some would look for in 5 star
As opposed to say Aplata Residence, it’s not easy or included to visit any neighboring wineries
A bit more driving then Colchagua area which shortens 2N stays, so works best at end of trip where you fly out at night so you get more of a full day on departure day
The ‘Master Suites’ don’t always have a significantly better view and one loses some privacy from pool goers. If wanting higher category room I personally prefer the Puro Vik glass houses.
Ultimately a really unique property great for modern design lovers. Traditionalists looking for smaller property might prefer Apalta Residence at Lapostolle.
Hotel is an architectural masterpiece with amazing views and incredible sunsets (can sit at the restaurant and enjoy them!). The staff were so kind and accommodating, they consistently went above and beyond to make our experience truly memorable. Our room was the Vik master suite, and it was lovely with clean design and remarkable views (can see sunrises and sunsets while lying in bed). Don’t forget to use the very cool carbon fiber hammock tub…truly unique piece. The only thing missing from this hotel is a bar area so guests can socialize and better get to know one another. They do have cocktails, but you have to ask for it and we enjoyed quite a few that were based on the Vik wine - Rose Sour and Espresso Martinis were awesome.
On the activities front, we did the winery tour, horseback riding and the mixology class with Sebastian (restaurant manager). Our time with Sebastian was easily our favorite activity of the entire stay. He was incredibly knowledgeable about many different cocktails, and was able to share that knowledge with us in a fun way. We had great conversations about his background and why he is so passionate about what he does (and how he made the recipe for the Pisco Deluxe at the Ritz, which was our very first Pisco Sour upon landing in Santiago!). Sebastian even made us a custom cocktail based on our tastes that was truly exceptional. Also, a shout out to Finny (reception) who was so helpful and always had an amazing attitude no matter what time of day. Truly one of the best hotels we’ve been to, we can’t wait to try the new one in Milan and the ones in Uruguay!
I stayed for 5 days and wish I stayed for a year. My friends and I (late 20s) were in awe throughout our stay at Vik Chile. Tucked in the middle of beautiful green valleys, the property has something for everyone. The architecture, interior design, and art was one of a kind. We took hikes, rode horses, played paintball, and laid by the pool. All of the food is sourced locally -- one night we got a tour of the Vik garden and even had the chance to make our own meal under the stars amidst the vineyard. I can't express enough how special this experience was!

I stayed here for a night - coming straight from arriving at Santiago airport. The boutique hotel is situated in a very bucolic and peaceful setting. Staff service is warm and homely. The room is average (I requested for the minimalist room) but the views are amazing. The wine tour was good and the horse back riding activity was fun. The food served is very good.

An exceptional hotel in an idillic location. We did the option which included all our meals and activities. All the meals were great as was the wine. We also did the horseback ride through beautiful scenery. The staff in the hotel were very friendly and helpful

If you are looking for friendly staff, amazing Sommelier, and an artistic surrounding then the vik is your place. Stayed with the wife and I will say as Black Americans I was a bit concerned how we would be treated, and that all went away. We were treated amazingly by the staff and had great conversations with other guest. This trip is worth every penny. Wine baths, great spa treatments and amazing wine... just book it

Stayed for two nights at this stunning Hotel. Was an amazing experience an like many hotels I find the staff make or break a visit and on this occasion they made it. The rooms are large, eclectic and very comfortable. If there is a draw back there is no bar but I understand this is being addressed. A great place to just chill out. We did horse riding, trekking and an amazing picnic. It is $$$$$ and not having a place to sit back and relax with a glass of wine before dinner and after is the reason for the 4 stars. Regardless would recommend.

A great location and a wonderful staff made for a great 3 night stay for us. The restaurant is terrific in every way – the food, the service and the views. The wine tour/tasting was the best of the ten or so I have been on in my life. Our guide, Andrea was knowledgeable and fun, and spoke perfect English. Our room was spacious and had great views. I loved my morning bike rides through the vineyard, with the benefit of all you can eat grapes right off the vine. It’s really an amazing place. The guests were from all over the world. Most were on short stays. That makes sense because the wonderful isolation of the place would become a bad thing after a while. For example, in my one experience in a similar place – Entre Cielos near Mendoza, Argentina – you had the option of going to Mendoza for dinner or doing some of the adventurous activities offering around Mendoza. For better or worse (mostly better), Vik was a long way from everything else. They are addressing a couple of minor flaws. They are putting in a bar (which oddly they don’t have yet). And it seems they are adding a pavilion in their great garden so maybe they can do an occasional lunch over there. So why only 4 stars? It’s very expensive. It’s supposed to be this good. …

This is a beautiful, (but remote!) property. It's a luxury experience in the midst of a huge vineyard and winery. Everyone is positive and helpful. I got the impression most of the guests here are escaping Santiago. The guests appeared to us to be young and upscale hip, (or chic?). The staff atmosphere was friendly but a little more on the formal side. Not as touchy-feely as other places we stayed on our trip, (i.e. Awasi or Tiera Chiloe). The food and wine were excellent to say the least and the staff in the dining room was personable and friendly with a great attitude. We were well taken care of. We didn't arrive until around midnight and were welcomed by Kenny. He was absolutely great. Obviously one of the unsung heros of the hotel as he works the overnight shift. None the less, we did manage to take advantage of his hospitality and deserves a big pat on the back! We also enjoyed the winery tour which was well done by Camila.…

We stayed here 2 nights as part of our larger organized trip. We had heard a lot of hype about this place and it was definitely unique. Looks like a space ship in the hills. All of the suites are unique and themed. We stayed in "La Patricia" which was beautiful, colourful and spacious. We saw some of the other rooms where our travel companions stayed, and they were equally unique! We ate in the restaurant on site, as well as the other restaurant at the winery. The food in both, was incredible. Well presented, unique and so flavourful. A lot o love and care went in to all of our meals. And the service was amazing. Everyone was so friendly, smiling and engaging. They couldn't do enough for you!! The lobby is stunning, with incredible furniture and unique designs. The view from all vantage points was breathtaking. The infinity pool is beautiful, however, its so dark & black, no one wanted to go in! Not very appealing. Should have put in blue tiles to brighten it up. While we went on a great horseback riding trip and wine tour, there is nothing much to do there. So if you want a quiet and tranquil time, this is the place. Around 2 hours outside of Santiago, but definitely worth the trip!…

My wife and I had an amazing stay at your brilliant hotel. The setting was beautiful, especially the pool area, we rode horses and mountain bikes, toured the wine facilities and had a fabulous time during our entire stay. Your staff was pleasant, professional and delivered exceptional customer service. Specifically, we very much enjoyed Sebastian, your food, beverage and restaurant manager who not only delivered incredible customer service but went well above and beyond to make sure we had a fantastic experience. We also loved Connie, a server in your beautiful restaurant, who was smart, charming and very knowledgeable. It's very clear that Sebastian not only delivers an exceptional customer experience but also trains his staff to do the same. We will definitely return to your amazing property. Thank you, Deb and Scott Biddinger…

Stayed here after wonderful stays in Patagonia and Atacama. One of our party is vegetarian. The hotel, unlike others on our stay, provided lack luster food and acted as though they had no idea we had requested vegetarian meals months before and upon arrival. The vegetarian options were sad: like a sliced cabbage on a plate. We did speak with the restaurant manager but nothing improved. We spoke with the management and no one really seemed that interested in accommodating. The garden tour was unimpressive and we were dropped off with no information as to when we’d be picked up so we sat for a while waiting for a ride back to the hotel. We ordered wine on the tour, but there was no follow up on this so we never received it (we were not charged so we just bagged it). On the whole, the hotel is in a beautiful spot and the vineyards are lovely, but the attention to detail is totally unimpressive. For that reason, I would not return.…

Amazing architecture. All the physical things are beautifully designed and super quality. Our room Azulejo was amazing with a wonderful view. The food is reliably first class. We eagerly looked forward to dining every day and were never disappointed. Shining above everything however is the quality of service. Without exception the staff are fantastic. Knowledgeable, accommodating, friendly and engaging. Possibly our best ever hotel experience.
