We wanted to be out in the country and the Coruisk House was the perfect place to be. We felt so welcome when Clare offered us a glass of prosecco on check-in. Both rooms are equally charming. What a treat to dine and stay here. The restaurant is worth the journey itself. For an intimate place, the food and presentation... More

We visited this restaurant whilst staying in Mary's Cottages next door. There is even a path between the two to make the 2 minute walk even easier. The food is absolutely superb, far surpassing our expectations. It is all local seafood, lamb and beef, with an interesting vegetarian option, put together with thought and imagination. Not cheap (we paid about... More

We stayed at Mary's Thatched Cottages next door but had two quite excellent meals at Coruisk House. The standard of cuisine and presentation was excellent and as good as anything we have had elsewhere. Thoroughly recommended and a must for anyone visiting this part of Skye

We were made to feel very welcome at Coruisk House. The room was very comfortable and tastefully decorated. The food was exceptional and prepared with great care to detail. I would be delighted to recommend Coruisk House to all my friends and family for a really special experience in a stunning location.

This is the third time my partner and I have eaten here and once again it delivered exceptional food and service making it one of the best restaurants we have eaten in a long time. Service was top class and Clare is friendly and always willing to help. We haven't stayed here before but are planning to in the future.... More

Coruisk house has a definite charm about it. Clare and Iain have put in a lot of effort to make the place as nice as it is. We arrived earlier than the check-in time, which was 4pm as we thought we could lounge somewhere in the property, but we were directed to the harbour by Clare as the rooms were... More

My friends and I had been planning a trip to Scotland for many months and after much research, we made it a point to visit the Isle of Skye. As anyone will tell you, visiting the Hebrides is a must! Even other Scots from Glasgow or Edinburgh will sheepishly admit they don't often take the opportunity to explore these tiny... More

This is our second stay at Coruisk House and it was every bit as good as the first. The rooms are charming, cosy, and tastefully decorated with the usual tea and coffee making facilities, a hair drier and a hot water bottle for the colder nights. The bedrooms don't have TVs which pleases me, but there is one in the... More

Claire and Iain's little restaurant (we were the 4 of us that dinner plus an American couple) is lovingly and caringly decorated, with the kind of casual elegance which can only be had through the hard search for perfection. The food was hands down the best meal we had in Scotland. The wine list is growing and I shall look... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Coruisk House is the Restaurant with Rooms in Elgol. It is situated in the tiny but stunning fishing village of Elgol, two miles from the harbour. Elgol harbour overlooks Loch Scavaig towards the most spectacular view on the Isle of Skye - towards the Cuillin Ridge. Boat trips are available from Elgol Harbour between March to October for visits to Loch Coruisk and the islands of Soay, Rum and Canna (Iain and Clare will book the boat trips for their guests). Outside of these months, and weather dependent, boat trips are available by prior arrangement but guests should enquire well in advance of their visit. The area is renowned for spectacular scenery and is beloved of photographers and artists. There are many amazingly scenic walks that can be made from the house or just a short drive away. There are two rooms for guests at Coruisk House, each with views over towards the Sleat peninsula. Each room has a king size bed (one is a four poster), en-suite shower room and tea and coffee making facilities. The rooms are tastefully furnished, the beds have soft pillows and duck down duvets and the towels are fluffy! There is a cosy residents lounge with wood-burning stove and comfortable sofas to enjoy afternoon tea or a dram from a selection of fine single malts available. There is a television in the lounge. The restaurant (also with an open fire) serves lunch and dinner by prior reservation (24 hours advance reservation) from March until October using local produce (with a focus on seafood and highland game, although catering to specific dietary requirements with prior notice). Fresh shellfish is available having been landed daily (weather permitting) by the fishermen who leave Elgol Harbour early every morning throughout the year. Iain prepares delicious food with close attention to detail and will cater to guests specific requests if at all possible. Clare makes fresh bread daily for guests to enjoy. Afternoon tea is also available for all residents of Coruisk House. Iain and Clare greet all their guests with a warm welcome and make sure that their stay is relaxing and enjoyable in a truly stunning location. ... more   less
