Pic d'Anie hotel is located in the beautiful village of LESCUN. We will welcome you in this authentic and typical Pyrenean place. We propose a complete package with night breakfast and dinner. Run by the Carrafancq family for decades, it will be the starting point of many treks and climbing sessions or just a smple stage on your GR10 walk. Also, a 15 bed gite d'étape is available. Finally in the cafe/bar you will envoy a fresh drink while you relax after a nice walk.
The Pic d'Anie is part of the fabric of Lescun. For many years it was the only hotel in the village, but now it styles itself "Chambres d'hotes" and no longer operates as a hotel as such. In fact the differences are minimal.. it still operates a bar; no food is offered now, apart from breakfast; but the prime central location, the characterful rooms, and the charming patronne Mme Carrafancq are just the same as ever, and the prices haven't changed much either.
The rooms are adequately sized and comfortable but wifi has not penetrated to Lescun yet and you will look in vain for minibars, lcd tv etc etc. This is a nice, traditional, old fashioned French hotel and as such offers excellent value for money. I paid €47/night B&B this year (and last year, too) for a double bed + bathroom. Warmly recommended.
In addition to the hotel itself, the Pic d'Anie operates two gites and a comfortable gite d'etape. This represents a good proportion of all the available accommodation in Lescun, though there are also some private houses operating B&B, one or two other gites rural, and a refuge, the Maison de Montagne, which I have heard good reports of but have not visited.
There is currently no restaurant in Lescun although [excellent] table d'hote meals can be booked at the Bar des Bergers and the Maison d'Montagne also offers meals.
Lescun is a remote corner of France close to the Spanish border near the main Pyrennees hiking route GR 10. This small village of 200 people has one hotel, Hotel du Pic d' Anie. A good value at 40 euros a night including breakfast you will find a interesting old mountain hotel with in room bathrooms.
The real draw here is the hiking and the mountains don't disappoint. The region is famous for their amazing cheese and the fermier (farmer) brebis (sheep) cheese can be found in a small farmhouse across from the hotel. This cheese is world famous and can be found as Ossau-Iraty (aoc). These trails lead to the pastures of the sheep in the summer so you may share the trail with the sheep!
A very french hotel run by the Carrafancq family who made us feel welcome even though our French is not very good! A great base for the stunning walks in the area. As already mentioned by a previous reviewer the hotel does not serve meals except for a simple breakfast (very nice selections of breads and home made jam/marmalade and good coffee) but does have a bar and outside seating in the pretty square. We stayed for 3 nights in a room overlooking the square which also had lovely views of the mountains. Perhaps the rooms are a bit dated for some peoples taste but we had eveything we needed and would stay there again if visiting Lescun. For info, we ate each night at "Les Tables d'eu Haut" not far from the hotel, this seemed to be the only eating option in the village if you did not have your own transport. The menu is limited with outdoor seating only but the food was delicious and the owner friendly and welcoming...we would definately recommend.

We didn't stay here but dropped by for lunch - excellent. 10 euros buys you a plate of omelette, cheese, salad, and ham with chips. All in a beautiful town square surrounded by mountains. Recommended!

Didn't stayed the night but came in for a drink and some food during a couple of days (stayed at a camping). Very nice and helpfull staff. Arnoud took the time to advice us on a 5 day hike, even though we weren't sleeping at the hebergement. He also showed us some places to camp. After the hike we stayed in lescun for 2 days to regain some strength ;) and stayed in the shades of the parasols on the terras for a couple of hours each day. Good food and nice people!

The owners are extremely welcoming to their charming hotel. The homemade breakfast and family-style dinner was fresh and excellent. The hiking advice was perfect for our family. We highly recommend this well-maintained hotel. We would love to return for a second stay!

I stayed in the refuge part of the establishment which is in a nearby building. There’s a lovely square to eat and sit in. The refuge had good kitchen and 2 showers. I had breakfast and evening meal too. The breakfast was a little pricey for what was offered but the yoghurts were delicious and homemade as were the jams. The evening meal varied, 1st night was vegetables and rice after a soup which was all just okay. The 2nd night was melon then a delicious duck potato pie, really filling and tasty! The staff were super helpful and spoke a few different languages too. Really nice place to stay

We arrived to a very friendly greeting in this interesting old building. The hotel bar has its tables outside and seems to form the focal point for the whole village. There are a number of Basque beers available. Our room was a good size, maybe a touch shabby and the ensuite plumbing was showing signs of age. The guests (5 that night) had dinner round a single table in Rather a splendid dining room on the first floor. The meal was simple but very good. Perfectly ripe melon balls in a half of melon, followed by the most perfect lasagne I have eaten in a long time. For dessert a tiramisu. My friend had a vegetarian lasagne prepared for him of equal quality. After dinner the waitress willingly spent time going over local walking routes with other guests. Breakfast was good with each of of us given freshly toasted bread. …

Stayed two nights - the first in the gite d'etape and the second in the hotel. The staff are really pleasant and obliging with good English. Both the gite and the hotel are rustic but clean and functional. Our hotel room looked over the village centre and the bed had beautifully laundered embroidered linen sheets. Charming. We spent a rest day here from our trek of the GR10 and highly recommend it to others who enjoy some comfort and the charm and welcome of the Pyrenees.

We arrived late at the hotel whilst walking the GR10 route, however the staff were very welcoming and got us to our room to shower and we were given a lovely three course meal to end a great day. The room was of a typical rural charm, basic and comfortable with amazing views of the mountains and the sound of the church bells only complemented the beauty of this town. Breakfast was good to set us up for a further days walking.. I will make a point of staying here again when next in the area.

We spent a very pleasant night in Lescun in the heart of the French Pyrenees. The hotel is run by a young couple that are looking to revitalize the space. The room was very simple, but comfortable. Wifi was extremely fast. Our hosts prepared us a wonderful meal of roast duck, white beans, and chocolate tarts for dessert. The hospitality was wonderful. We asked for a running route for the next morning, and were presented with a very helpful map. Don't come here expecting luxury. It's very simple, but that's what the mountains are for.
