I don’t like giving negative reviews, and the rating reflects the fact that I think the staff were trying hard to please, and the many faults were the result of the management having bitten off more than they could chew. Basically this is, as other reviewers have noted, a B&B with pretensions to being a hotel – and prices to...

This is a friendly, family run (we think) hotel about 20 minutes off the M4 motorway near Newbury, so very convenient for people traveling west from London or Heathrow. We stayed in two rooms, one small (but clean and comfortable), the second night much larger, and a really lovely room. When we arrived the welcome was warm, breakfast was good,...

We booked the hotel to host out wedding reception in June 2014. The moment we walked in this quirky and beautifully furnished hotel we knew this was where we wanted our reception. Amanda was great to work with and over several meetings she arranged exactly what we wanted for our special day. We were on a fairly tight budget but...

The hotel is located on a busy road, but windows are double pane so rooms well insulated. My room was comfortable and well equipped. WiFi was not working when I arrived, but once fixed it worked well. Selection of beer at bar is poor needs improving. Ambiance is good, but period features are perhaps a little overdone. Food service is...

We attended the broomsquire hotel for a wedding reception and on arrival thought how lovely a venue it was... That's where the good things stopped. Service was shocking... Well the little service we received anyway. The cider and pimms ran out before we even sat down for food, the pimms fruit was recycled from other people's used glasses, the beer...

Was decorated well, with a very warm atmosphere. However, there seemed to be a variation in bar prices (small bottle of water £4.90! and then once challenged they charged £2.30), the real ale was awful, a glass of prosecco was served for the toasts it was flat and one glass had spider webs floating in it! The recpeption drinks included...

What a truly wonderful day we had on June 7th!! Amanda and her team were amazing and we can honestly say that there was nothing to fault about the day. All the staff were attentive and caring to our every need. They had decorated the hotel to our exact specifications and it was a beautiful ambiance throughout. All our guests...

We have had afternoon tea here on two occasions, one of which included a party of 20, and the service and quality has been consistently high. The atmosphere is warm, informal and friendly and the selection of cakes and sandwiches is wonderful. We've had some very expensive afternoon teas over the years, but have found the Broomsquire's simple but delicious...

My husband and i had afternoon tea in this delightful hotel. The service was fantastic and the value for money was very good. The food was really lovely and presented to us on cake stands and tea pots which was inkeeping with the ambience of the Tea Room. Beautiful - will come again.
