Carrenac is a very small medieval village with only the one hotel, and as far as we could tell only one bar/pub. But if that's the kind of place you like, then this hotel will serve your purposes very well. Our room on the first floor above ground had a large queen/king size bed with a sylvan view out over... My expectations were not raised for this hotel. Rooms are basic but clean. Lovely little town. Great staff. And the half board made it one of the best values in France. Our surprise continued with the wine list. Good and good value. They were super at transferring our luggage too. Charging 20 euros.

The Hostellerie Fenelon is a simple place - no bells or whistles, simple accommodation but good and clean. So, the redeeming features? A gorgeous location: Carennac is quite simply beautiful and the hostellerie is perfectly located for exploring. It is also set up above the river (Dordogne) looking out over the trees which makes it both quiet and cool. Such... More

We have stayed at the Fenelon several times. Management has now changed and it is no longer registered as a Logi de France. The rooms have been renovated, but have lost some of their charm in the process. However, we had a warm welcome and clean room overlooking the Dordogne. There was a good choice of food for breakfast and... More

Beautiful little village but not impressed with this hotel at all. Welcome was frosty at reception and then led up stairs on poorly lit corridors and taken into what can only be described as a very"brown" uninviting room that was cold and smelt damp. Decided not to eat in restaurant so cannot comment on that but found beautiful little place... More

I have known L'Hostellerie le Fenelon for years, under the original management, but until recently I had never had the opportunity to stay here. Our room overlooking a branch of the Dordogne and Ile de Calypso was impeccably clean, adequately comfortable and wonderfully silent at night. Some sort of grip handle in the shower would have been appreciated for safety,... More

My mother who lives locally decided to treat my husband and me to lunch on Sunday 2 weeks ago, having eaten there with friends and family over the past 25 years or so. My parents even had a very memorable 50th Wedding Anniversary do there 20 years ago. Alas, things have changed and the meal was a disappointment from beginning... More

This hotel located in the most charming and beautiful medieaval village is spotlessly clean with crisp beautifully ironed sheets (what a pleasure!), the service is excellent and the staff friendly and bilingual. The cuisine is definitely three-star quality! The proprietors oversee everything personally and also give hands-on assistance where required. A sparkling blue swimming pool (also spotlessly clean) surrounded by... More

A great value 3 course lunch for only €15!! Choice of main courses. Ate on the terrace and really helpful friendly staff. There is even the use of the pool afterwards. Lovely location on the river bank just outside one of the prettiest villages in the area.

Good position in a gorgeous village. Staff pleasant and helpful. Clean and adequate room but lacking frills. Okay for the price but needs some tlc. Nice swimming pool. Food in restaurant definitely not impressive. If we returned to the village we wouldn't stay here again.
