Quick Summary: Nice hotel, good food, friendly staff, but with a few easy fixes it could be great. Resort a bit iffy. Read on if you want to know more... After the July bad weather in the UK we wanted to get away and chose Mallorca and this hotel pretty much randomly, as we'd not been to Spain for many years. We booked the half board option but All Inclusive was available, but it seemed expensive at a further 300 Pounds each for the week. We're not big eaters and drinkers so gave it a miss. However, when we arrived we did ask what the cost was directly at the hotel and what was included. We stayed with HB as it was essentially 300 quid each. The resort is at one end of Alcudia, which is not a good start based on my last experience of Alcudia 15 years ago. The hotel is set back from the main road / beach 500m down a side street, close to the hospital. The main road area is typical mix of pubs, restaurants and supermarkets selling everything from food to beach balls catering mainly for the beach goers. We decided that it was probably best to stay around the hotel - maybe why they offered the AI option ? The hotel has clearly been refurbished in recent years, except for the reception area. The reception desk its self was quite small and room only for two receptionists, so we had a bit of a queue. Our room wasn't ready which gave us a chance to have a wander round. The pool looked nice and so did the sunbeds (but more of them later), and it seems quite busy. There was a pool bar, cafe area serving drinks and food and it all looked really nice. Our room was a pool view - recommend this as roads around the hotel seemed unusually busy from very early morning. It was in a modern style, great aircon, all the usual toiletries, towels changed regularly, cleaned well and a balcony overlooking the pool and entertainment area. In fact all of the main areas were decorated in a nice modern style including the bar and the main restaurant. The drinks were reasonably priced, most included in the AI option, but many weren't, AI customer had to pay 50% price. All very nice so far. The food was nice and each night had a theme, but also included the staples of salads (which had a great selection), pasta, pizza etc. and the desserts were lovely and great choice. Breakfast was in the same place with plenty of choice English, continental, fresh omelettes, eggs etc. Sunbeds around the pool got busy, so like most others we had to get a couple bagged early. Some guests went to the beach which helped the congestion around the pool. Towels are obtained from the lifeguard (if you can find him). The pool was nice with bean bags to float on and soak up the rays. No we have to come to a few of the downsides, which to be honest could be easily fixed if the management wanted. 1. Sunbeds - made of metal with a mesh stretched over. Some of them the mesh was sagging and you were resting on metal bars - very uncomfortable. The hotel just needs to invest in padded covers. Not expensive for 100 beds or so. 2. I had to hire the bedroom safe for 28 Euros. I haven't had to do this for 20 years ! Surely the room safe should be in the price ? 3. Pool Towels - a deposit refundable on return of 20 Euros. Again if this is a 4* hotel I don't expect to have to put money down for a towel. 4. All Inclusive - was expensive and I'm glad we didn't take it at 38 Euros per person per day. I just don't think it was good value, as the drinks were reasonably priced anyway. It would have been 600 Pounds on top of HB for us, but we only spent 250 Euros for the week in the hotel. You decide. So would we return to the hotel - "yes" for the hotel, but "no" for the resort. …
