Hard to put into words what this place is like. To say it impressed us is an understatement. But I'll try . . .
We had very high hopes and sometimes this is a bad thing but I actually think it went way above them. It was our Silver wedding and my 50th celebration so we wanted special. The place and decor are stunning, all done with style and colours that embrace the beautiful colours of the nature here.
We stayed one week in a beach villa and then a week in the Ocean pool villa, we personally preferred the Ocean Villa, the deck and colours just blew me away, never felt so privileged to actually stay in such a place. In fact after two weeks we moved our flight to stay another 3 nights as we were just not ready to leave. That sunset views just kept us wanting more.
All the beaches are beautiful and the sand bar walk to the Crab shack is just stunning. The water is a colour you can't explain, the snorkelling was fantastic, especially out at the edge of the reef where it drops away, every day was different.
The food, omg! The beach kitchen buffet was incredible, the food along with the theme nights were delicious and just so much variety. Such pretty decor and great staff and service, loved Mauch, what a great guy! And Ali, just love him!
Kanusan, we love seafood and this place was incredible, the Omakase was just fantastic and we had it many times, but all the food was delicious. First met Upul here, who really looked after us everywhere over our time here, what a true gent with a great smile.
Crab Shack, what a place, we walked here many days, had a swim and then lunch, couldn't get any better, DJ playing chilled vibes, great view, drinks and fantastic food. Service great as always.
Arabian grill, just wow! Think we were spoilt when we had Nasheed on our first visit, he helped with our choices and paired wine with each course, he was fantastic and we hunted him down on every visit there. Thank you to all the chefs!
Ricky also deserves a mention, what a lovely guy. Always a big smile and great to chat with. Ricky and Nasheed are both incredible at their jobs along with being great to chat to, we loved seeing them, hope they're still there whenever we come back!! The Crab shack and Arabian team are all fantastic tbh, Raiim was super sweet to, always happy.
The bar staff, blimey they were good. Big thank you to Suresh, great man. But our favorite has to be Edi, makes me smile while even writing this. He is the happiest guy, super friendly and wow makes a mean cocktail. My husband was disappointed if we couldn't find him as he just had a special touch. Then we spotted him in the fire show too! AMAZING.
The fire-shows were great, really appreciate their talent and skill, really added to the evenings, especially at the White party, we loved that night, we were lucky to experience 3 of them, all beautiful and very well done.
Milk Lab, what a lovely bonus place, great smoothies, coffee and snacks incase all the food is not enough. Zia and Asjan are just lovely too, always happy to see you and chat.
Big thank you to Martine, she's just lovely and is there for anything, she made sure we were always happy or asked if we needed anything at all, it was so lovely to see her everyday.
Loved meeting and chatting to Beatriz too, a really lovely lady, gave us a great tour of the place and let us pick her brains about her home.
This place is really something special, from the moment we landed in Male to waving goodbye. You will never be bored here or be ready to leave. I hope the new manager keeps up the great work and looks after this place as it's very special, he seems like a great guy. A big thank you to all the staff for taking pride in your work and looking after the place and us so very well, we appreciate all of you. WE WILL BE BACK!!!

My Wife and I had the Maldives on our "bucket list", so when our 25th anniversary came along, we decided to go for it. So many people had recommended it as a destination.
We can honestly say, that even their glowing positive comments did not do it justice. Finolhu was the most beautiful, idyllic and peaceful holiday we have ever had (and we have been to some fabulous locations)
Everything about this resort from the rooms, to the facilities, to the food and the staff was perfect (did I mention the food? OMG!)
We booked all inclusive Premium, and we were glad we went for the extra cost, because frankly the prices on resort are ridiculous (really, really ridiculous). With the all inclusive option, all the food and drink is top quality (unless you want to buy stuff from the so called "exclusive" menu - which there is absolutely no need to).
The rooms (even the "basic" ones) are enormous and wonderfully appointed, making good use of the lovely climate to provide outside showers etc.
The beaches and facilities are spotlessly clean and pristine. Everything about the the resort is relaxed, friendly and the staff and service are fabulous.
I could easily write another 1000 characters on this, but is still wouldn't do it justice. Just . . . Go.

We loved our honeymoon at finolhu!! It was difficult choosing between the many excellent resorts in the Maldives because so many are five stars and well rated, but we were so pleased we choose this one.
We got the ocean view over water Villa with pool and it is one of the best rooms I've ever stayed in. Everyone at this resort is so kind, and friendly and truly interested in giving you a 5 star stay. We were so pleased with our stay, we decided to come back to the maldives in 3 months. Upon our second round of research, we realized how lucky we were to stay here. Finolhu stands out as a great resort because it offers 4 dining locations. When you're on one island for several days, it's great to have options. Most resorts only have 3. We ate at each of the restaurants and found the buffet of excellent quality. The Mediterranean and Asian cuisines were very good a la carte restaurants for a reasonable cost. Finolhu is also one of the few resorts that includes alcohol as part of their all inclusive package. Others that we looked into (Westin, W) do not. We knew that they also offered a drinks package based off reviews, but when we asked upon check in he said there wasn't one. Later on on our stay, a bartender asked us why we didn't have a drink package. He was able to set one up, it's $68 a person per day. Next time, I'd be more pushy as they definitley have a just drinks package.
We stayed at the very end of the road to the villas (about a 15 minute walk to the center). We found it best to call a buggy, and it came within 7 minutes to pick you up. It was definitely a plus being out there and feeling private, but a bit of a walk if you don't call yourself a buggy to grab you. My husband used the gym each day and said it was mostly empty and very good quality.!
Even though it was high season when we went, they make a point to have so many options for you to relax, that you never feel you can't have the chair or seat, or beach spot of your choosing. We never felt crowded, or that there wasn't a person a second away to take care of your needs.
And finally, they made us feel so special. It was both our honeymoon and my birthday and they decorated our room twice and gave us champagne twice, poured a rose bubble bath, and gave us a free honeymoon dinner. In all, we felt so pampered and cared for, it was an unbelievable experience. We can't wait to come back!

Just arrived home from a amazing time at the Finolhu. It was everything and more than I expected.
We were greeted at the airport, checked on to the Sea Plane then whisked off to a nice lounge with free drinks and snacks
The staff are amazing from the grounds keepers, cleaners and bar staff, always greeting us with a big smile and a hello.
We were greeted off the Seaplane by a warm welcoming party. Given a brief but informative tour of what we needed to see. Then shown to our Water Villa.
Even on our departure we were greeted at the airport from the Sea Plane helped with our bags. The staff made sure we knew which desk we needed to check our bags into and stayed with us until we were all sorted.
The staff at the resort were great thought-out our stay. Remembering the little details like our drinks orders, we never went without a drink around the pool. And even specking to us about it being the last day of our trip, wishing us a safe journey home.
The WhatsApp system the hotel runs is great and allows you book meals and spa treats without any trouble.
The food was great. I’m quite fussy and ate really well. The crab Shack is definitely worth the walk.
I would definitely return to the resort.
Only a couple of little things out of the whole week.
On the Sea Plane they couldn’t fit all our bags on so one had to follow on another Plane but it didn’t really course a problem and was in the room when we returned from lunch.
We totally understand that the mini bar wasn’t included in our package but when we read the price menu we didn’t take into account that we would have to pay 12% tax and 20% service charge. Making a $9 beer more like $12. Also for the first 3 days it was stocked up every morning but later on in the week we had to chance it up to be filled

Dear Lauren, I am thrilled to learn about your vacation and it was definitely a pleasure to host you at Finolhu! It was lovely to have you with us on the island and many thanks for all the kind words about your experience. We have well noted your comments about the prices of the mini bar, however it is such a common practice in Maldives to add 10% service charge and 12% government tax to any sold items or services. I thank you for these comments, as it is very valuable to learn certain things that should be improved. Looking forward to seeing you soon again! Take care, Anna

What an amazing destination. We knew the Maldives would be beautiful, but the quality of this resort was exceptional. We chose to purchase the premium package which gave us additional options on dining and drinks - this was well worth it.
Cost of extras (spa, tours) were expensive, however there was plenty of other ways to relax and enjoy the location.
We were celebrating our 25th wedding anniversary and this was the ideal place. They looked after us well and then provided us with a specially prepared table on the beach for our anniversary dinner.
Entire experience was exceptional. I would recommend to any couple wanting a lovely romantic, relaxing, quality resort experience.

Dear ProvincialFlare, What a great feedback - many thanks for taking your time and sharing it with us! I will definitely pass your good words to the rest of the team, to each and everyone, who made it so special for you. It was absolutely lovely to meet you and take care of you during your stay! Many thanks for your constructive feedback in terms of extras, however we have conducted the price comparison among our competitors, and must say - we are right on the line. I am glad to know that the anniversary celebration went well and we are looking forward to having you back on our Paradise island! Best regards, Anna

This place is out of this world. Amazing people, food was stunning, beach is kept extremely well, very clean. Shout out to Shiyam and the other guys at the beach club they are above and beyond amazing. Our cleaner was lovely in room 116. The gardeners keep island looking stunning and all the staff in the restaurants were so nice.
In your room you can request an Iron and board, i emailed before we came and it was in room ready.
You get Shower gel, conditioner, shampoo, body lotion, handy little bits like on photos cotton pads, hair band, shower cap, sewing kit, sanitise pads, nail file and cotton wool sticks.
There are flip flops left, slippers, robe and a beach bag to use which you can buy if you want to keep it. Everyone was using the beach bag and if i knew this i wouldn't have bothered wasting space in my luggage. Great idea though.
There's life jackets in room, i suggest you use it as i got a bit caught out one day when sea was a bit choppy.
We were on Standard All Inclusive for 2 weeks, which gave you 1 visit to each of the restaurants. The buffet is soooooooooo nice you won't care that you only get one visit in each.
Drinks are lovely and lots to choose from on standard All inclusive.
You get Iced Tea, water and cold towels at the beach club every day at about 10.30am before the bar opens at 11am.
Just to note, when we landed in Male with BA at about 10am we were driven to the Finolhu lounge, here we only waited 30 mins for the seaplane. Which is amazing so get your cameras out.
We didn't want to leave we even had tears the morning we left.
We tipped a few because we wanted to and not that we felt we had too.
Not sure any other island will compete with this place so we may be back one day.
Thank you for a fantastic holiday Finolhu

Starting with the location, which is just perfect with the large lagoon on the one side, protected from the oceanic waves and a wonderful house reef on the other side. Furthermore you do have a lot of space to really enjoy the island in peace, you can go for long walks along the beach (or runs) but you can also choose one of the nice hotel restaurants / bars if you are looking for music, people, games,...
Depending on which villa you are booking, every category has its own advantages and it totally depends what your own requirements are - a beach villa with direct access to the beach, lagoon villas with direct access to the water in the lagoon or ocean villas with direct access to the house reef but all of the mentioned can also be enjoyed if you are in another villa category.
Restaurants where good too, service excellent, food worth trying new / unknown dishes. When booking All inclusive you will have one visit in each restaurant included and when e.g. booking half board you do get a 50 Euro voucher per person for each restaurant. For half board, still and sparkling water is always for free in the restaurants as well as in the villas. In the villas you do also have coffee and tea.
Dive center offers really great tours, e.g. if it is the season you must go to see the Mantas.
Non motorized water sports are for free.
If there is the chance, although comparably expensive, you should stay one night in the bubble. A once in the lifetime experience!
And last but not least, the service was just great, at every place, the restaurants, the reception, the dive center,... What was also great is that you can communicate with the hotel team via 1 of 4 possible communication tools, e.g. whatsapp, which helped a lot when e.g booking tables in the restaurants, communicating with the dive center for tours,...
I think there is a lot more to say about this place but you best try it yourself - it is definitely worth it.
THANKS Finolhu Team / Family

+1
We stayed at Finolhu for 9 nights and loved every minute of it! From the moment you land at the resort you are welcomed by a number of staff and immediately feel like you’re in paradise.
We stayed in the water lagoon room which had the most incredible sunrises between 7am and 8am each morning and allowed you to snorkel out to sea from your room.
Aside from the beauty of the island, the food at the restaurants was also very high quality. We upgraded to premium all inclusive which meant we were able to eat at the A La Carte restaurants every evening and had the option to eat at the Crab Shack for lunch. I would definitely recommend upgrading for this reason alone.
The service that we experienced was 5*, from the cleaning of the rooms to the waiters in the restaurants. We would like to thank Levin in particular for his attentive and enjoyable service at the restaurants, he is a credit to the resort.
Finally, we would like to recommend the Dinner on the Beach experience which was the most romantic setting for a post engagement dinner. The food was outstanding and our engagement evening would not have been the same without it!
Finolhu is a very special place and we would not hesitate to book this resort again.

The Finolhu resort is truly wonderful. The staff are exceptionally attentive and kind, they are all a huge credit to the hotel. It is their warmth towards guests which makes the hotel so special. The rooms are all extremely spacious, with either beach villas with or without pools that have direct beach access or over water villas. Each room has been recently been refurbished to the highest standard and the bathrooms are heavenly, with outdoor showers and a huge amount of space. From
either the beach villas or the water villas you can snorkel straight out of your room and see the reef teaming with fish. We were lucky enough to se one small black tip shark too. The food is incredible- most meals were taken at the Beack Kitchen where the catering staff surpass themselves with desserts, pattiseries, fresh bread and a choice of almost anything you could wish to sample. A Friday BBQ at the Crab Shack is an absolute must, take the boat from the jetty and dine Robinson Crusoe style! There are an enormous amount of activities for children and teenagers. A genius idea is a discretely placed cool inflatable water park that keeps the children busy for hours. It’s really not a surprise to hear that most of their customers are returning guests. Well done to Marc, Christoph and their wonderful team.
