Just got home from 9 nights in the Cocoon resort, staying in a water villa room 319 on the XXL All Inclusive package. We booked very last minute due to having to cancel a different holiday, so we found this online and booked via Lastminute.com 2 days before we flew. The stand out for us was the staff. From the moment we got to Cocoon the staff were excellent. Always so attentive, friendly, always smiling. Every staff member we came across seemed to know our names, room number and board basis (which matters as it determines the type of drinks etc you can have), which made the trip so much more personable. Special mention to Rio, Kadek on food and drink - both got to know our orders so bought over drinks without us even asking! Also to Elma our host, Alyona, responsible for resort entertainment, and the excursion guys that took us out to sea on trips - always made sure we felt safe and had a great time. These guys made stay particularly special, being so welcoming, and feeling like real friends by the end of the trip. Get involved with Alyona's entertainment be it sunrise yoga, Aqua Gym or evening dancing - she has an infectious energy making sure you have the best time! Water Villa was beautiful, and the team always made sure it was kept clean. Only thing here I'd say is the lighting isn't great for the evening when you're trying to get ready, its very dim, so get ready and head out whilst its lighter! There are a few packages you can do I think its B&B?, 'All Inclusive' and 'XXL All Inclusive'. We were on XXL and pleased we did as meant we had barely any restriction on cocktails, e.g. mojitos etc, (make sure you try a Cocoon swizzle!), whereas the All Inclusive menu looked quite limited to a few basic cocktails, otherwise they were about $12 each. The XXL is also a lot better if you are into excursions as a lot are included. We did a Coral Wharf snorkel trip which was about 30 mins away and we saw the most amazing fish, string rays etc, and a manta ray trip think the normal price is about $50pp. We also did the Dolphin Sunset Cruise which was (included in XXL, think its $150 pp on other board basis), this was a major highlight and must do! So if you like drinking lots of different cocktails, and doing excursions, XXL probably makes more sense. We also got a meal at the Manta restaurant included in that (normally have to pay for that one) which was really nice and good to mix up from the buffet, and a candlelit beach meal on our last night (usually I think about $150pp if not on XXL). Make sure you go paddle boarding and kayaking (included for 30min a day for all), feed the fish by the Manta restaurant at 6.30pm every eve is fun especially for kids, and snorkelling around by the water villas was amazing, like swimming through an aquarium. Lastly, go to the Kurumba bar to watch sunset at least once, really nice way to end the day before getting ready for the evening. Food was good. I am vegetarian so struggled slightly to start with, however as soon as the buffet manager realised I was veggie, he constantly offered for the team to make me separate veggie dishes if there wasn't much on the buffet I liked etc so if you have a dietary try to let them know early so they can cater if you're struggling on the buffet! My partner isn't veggie and he loved the food. Italian food night was our fav! Island itself is beautiful, you can walk around it in about 15 minutes. Thank you so much Cocoon - we can't wait to go back to one of your resorts! Alex and George

Hotel's Favorite
Having just returned from 10 days in Cocoon I have to say it was an absolutely fabulous holiday. My husband and I travelled to the island mid-March with our daughter and her partner and we all had a superb time. Everything about the island is just first class and what made this trip even more special is that on day 2 we were upgraded to a water villa – we were all stunned. I have no idea why we got the upgrade but were really grateful to Ram and his team for the opportunity – simply wonderful. Other names I wanted to mention who gave exception service were Afzal and Rohita in the Restaurant. Also from the bars there was Hrilanka, Ezra and Elvin – each one of these guys were just so attentive and couldn’t do enough for you. We also had a Private Sunset Cruise and the 4 of us enjoyed a drink whilst we watched the sun go down – and Ali who was our host was just a joy to spend time with. And finally a special mention to our room guy – Amir – he (like all of the staff) was just so warm and friendly, attentive and caring. The whole experience surpassed our expectations and I have no doubt we will be back. And finally a huge heartfelt thank you to Ram and his whole team – and everyone involved in making this resort and our holiday so special we appreciate all your efforts.

I am delighted that our wonderful team members were able to create an amazing holiday experience. The lush vegetation, crystal sandy beaches and one of the longest lagoons can be the highlights. My Dad and I came to Cocoon over the New Year and although our trip did not get off to the best start with my Mum being unable to join us at the last minute, the hotel staff made sure that we had a trip to remember. Whilst there are activities to do for couples who visit Cocoon (spa treatments, romantic dinners etc.), there are also a variety of water sports (jet skiing, wind surfing etc.) on offer making Cocoon a perfect destination for both families and couples. My Dad and I did a few dives with the in-resort team and the instructors could not have been helpful. Ansaar, Maaiz and Feli in particular made our dive experience seamless and thoroughly enjoyable. The food was also spectacular, and as a vegetarian, the kitchen staff always ensured there was something for me to eat. Special mention to Kadek, Yumi, Haydie, and Rio on the food and drink team who were always attentive and paid special attention to our favourite beverages and tables to eat. A highlight trip for us was the dolphin and sunset cruise which was just spectacular - a must-do if you visit Cocoon!! Our trip was truly memorable because of Alyona, the Executive Entertainer, whose energy and kindness was simply infectious. She always made sure we were enjoying themselves in the evening and made a concerted effort to engage with all the guests making everyone feel welcome. The staff at Cocoon really made our stay unforgettable.

Dear Freya J, Greetings from Cocoon Maldives! Thank you very much for taking the time to share your truly memorable Cocoon experience here on Tripadvisor. I am delighted that our team members made every possible effort to ensure an unforgettable and meaningful experience, especially Alyona, Rio, Haydee, Yumi, Kadek. The entire diving team is thrilled that they have created a life time experience in particular Feli, Ansar and Maaiz. We offer amazing excursions and undoubtedly the Sunset Dolphin Cruise and Manta and Turtle snorkeling can be the highlight. We sincerely appreciate that you have chosen our beautiful island for the New Year celebration. It was very unfortunate that your mom could not join this time and we are very much hopeful to have the opportunity to welcome you back with the entire family. Warmest regards, Jay Ahmed Jihad-Jay General Manager Cocoon Maldives

I will divide this review into good and bad, please read the bad as it is important if you want to choose the right hotel: The island is paradise, we have been to 3 different islands in the past trips to Maldives and this is the best one so far. Sand is amazing, water is amazingly blue. We loved the food, everything was fresh and delicious. The snorkeling trips were very nice. Special thanks to Fernando from Kurumba Bar, who made our mornings and sunsets very pleasant, he is very kind and attentive. Our fave spot was this bar because of him. Manta restaurant was very good, only thing I would say is the crispy coconut shrimps are way too expensive for what they are: 3 shrimps 30$??? Not even tasty. The rest of the food (tartar, lobster and three floor cheesecake) was good. Now the bad points: We had already been to the maldives and wanted to go back MAINLY because of the overwater villa. We arrived at the hotel and were taken to a Beach Villa, but we paid for a Lagoon Villa (not a promotion, we specifically paid for every one of the 6 nights in a Lagoon Villa) we went back to the reception and they did NOT believe us. We were told all Lagoon Villas were busy and that we would have priority for an upgrade if there were any cancellations. It was actually an error of the hotel with the reservation. They did nothing to fix it. Thats it. We spent the most horrible 3 first nights waiting for them to contact us, going to reception every morning and evening with no response. Our travel agency contacted them every day but reception did not solve anything until I talked to a Manager or Director that I saw walking around the hotel. Then we got the upgrade. Staff in reception were not very helpful nor nice to us. They did not offer any compensation for the first 3 nights that we spent in the Beach Villa. Our agency had to request a late checkout, but still this does not compensate the bad time and horrible feelings of the first 3 nights and days. No free dinner? No xxl all Inclusive at least the last 3 days? Nothing? No refund for the first 3 nights difference of expense ??? We are VERY disappointed. Be careful with your bookings people, once you arrive there you are on your own. And no compensations or anything. If it had been my honeymoon I would have not stood up from reception until it had been solved, I would have slept there. But then again, I would have wasted my time in reception. We wont stop telling this story in all review sites and to all people that go to the Maldives. Room beach villa: 154 Overwater lagoon villa: 315

Dear Pillar P, Greetings from Cocoon Maldives! Thank you for staying at our stunning island for your getaway experience. I am glad that Cocoon Maldives is so far the best experience compared to the previous 3 stays in the Maldives. We are pleased that you appreciated the lush vegetation and natural beauty around the island. It’s a breathtaking experience. The culinary team is over the moon to read your kind words and we are very pleased that your enjoyed the delicious food. It is great to read you had an amazing snorkeling experience and Fernando is overjoyed to read your kind words. He is a real star and seeks every possible opportunity to exceed the guest expectations. I have personally checked all the necessary reservation communications and would like to re confirm that it was clearly comminuted to the travel agent that we will not have a water villa available and the amended reservation confirmation was a beach villa and the agent should have all the necessary information in advance. The original booking was made for March 2021 and it was confirmed for a water villa and after that we have received a request to amend the booking for January 2022. When the request came for a date change we did not have the water villa availability and it was discussed with the Travel Agent. We hope to have another opportunity to welcome you back and we will make sure a flawless and unforgettable Cocoon experience. Best regards, Jay Ahmed Jihad- Jay General Manager Cocoon Maldives
