2021 Travelers' Choice Best of the Best
Opened in November 2016, Milaidhoo Island Maldives is a boutique luxury resort in the Baa Atoll UNESCO biosphere reserve, close to Hanifaru Bay, 126km north west of Male. It's perfect for nature lovers as its own coral reef, which completely circles the island, is a protected area and noted as an outstanding snorkelling and diving site in its own right. The tiny beautiful island, abundant with tropical greenery, measures just 300 mby 180m and is fringed by white soft deep sand beaches. Designed for couples and honeymooners, Milaidhoo welcomes guests aged nine and above. Offering barefoot informality, each of the 50 spacious air-conditioned villas has its own private freshwater pool on the sundeck and opens up 180 degrees to allow the natural beauty of the island into the villa. Clever design ensures all villas have ocean views. The custom-made furnishings and thoughtful designs are Maldivian inspired, from natural wooden floor to the thatched roof all made by master craftsmen specifically for Milaidhoo. An island host is on hand to ensure every detail of the stay is perfect, from arranging spa appointments and excursions to ensuring the private wine fridge in the villa is stocked with the guest's personal favourites. The room rate includes breakfast as well as wi-fi, laundry, kayaking, use of snorkelling equipment and in-villa treats such as a bottle of champagne and tropical fruit basket on arrival as well as a daily evening turn-down with a gourmet gift from chef. The three restaurants and two bars are designed to appeal to the senses, offering outstanding dining in wonderfully informal settings. No shoes are required. Ever. Food lovers will enjoy the Milaidhoo Gourmet Plan, which is a dine-around meal plan offering daily breakfast, lunch and dinner as well as international and premium brands of spirits, beers and cocktails from a selection as well as fresh juices, soft drinks, mineral water, teas, coffees, milkshakes and smoothies and a premium selection of wines, hand-picked by the sommelier all day long. The over-water spa has four treatment suites and complimentary yoga and meditation classes take place in the open air over-water pavillion. For romantics, Milaidhoo is the perfect choice: from candlelit dinners to scented baths, from flower petal bedecked beds to the perfect place to say "I do'. Sports activities include sailing, catamarans, kayaks, a 24-hour gym, yacht trips, dolphin cruises, whale shark spotting, manta ray watching, conservation activities with the resident marine biologist, fishing, diving, snorkelling, and an open-air infinity pool. Milaidhoo is reached by a scenic 35-minute seaplane ride from Male International Airport. Airport transfers are provided by the hotel at an extra charge. The transfer process is smooth and easy with the resort's representative meeting each guest at the airport and guiding them to the private lounge where they can rest and recharge to await their transfer.

I don’t travel alone usually, I was hesitant to take this adventure but I had no choice! I was under business stress and I needed break time alone. The first day I arrived, it was frustrating because of heavy raining at the water villa I reserved. But the other days were beautiful sunshiny days. I moved to beach villa where a creamy beach sands you can lay on. It was breathtaking kind of trip and I never felt alone for such friendly staff. I scheduled for yoga, massage, and snorkeling 2 times. I like how classy the villas are specially the beach villa The island is very small you will not find bicycles and so. Liusha, the butler, was very helpful and nice, I was lucky having her there.

The most friendly and welcoming atmosphere that I ever encountered in any resort or hotel ever. Beautiful scenery and nature on land and under the water. We saw sharks, eagle rays, sting rays and sea turtles among others... so close we could touch them if we wanted to. If you go there, make sure to visit their spa and try their massage. But propably the best thing on the entire Island were the staff. Their willingnes to help and accomodate our wishes on every occasion was impeccable. Through this review I would like to thank them all again as they made our stay even more enjoyable. The names I can remember right now are Liusha, our host, and Lubab, the man who served us every day during our meals. If you want to visit Maldives, this is the place.

We visited in July 2021 with family of 9 members. We loved location. Small island with plenty things to do and enjoy. Facility available for guests: GYM - well equipped to keep you fit and keep weight under control, because the food is excellent here SPA - with experienced therapists, Yoga is very day morning 7.30, space for 5 participants and it is free, Best to make reservation. It was great. Restaurants: Ocean - main restaurant for Breakfasts, lunch, dinner with a nice terras where you could enjoy dining on the beach Baghtelli - seafood restaurant in shape of local historical Maldivian boat Compass - pool bar and restaurant with excellent cocktails and variety drinks Shoreline grill - with Chef table, with local cousin, Sushi, and other cooking lessons, amazing Shopping: Boutique shop - with nice souvenirs and swimsuits, dress, sunscreens etc. Water sport center - with kayaks, catamaran, snorkelling guidance, scuba diving, house reef is amazing with turtles and baby sharks, there available house reef cave in 15-20 m depth just in front of water villas, other activities - Sandbank tour, Jet ski, fishing, boat tour, Turtles and Dolphin watching I do recommend to go to see Manta Rays and Whale Sharks in nearby Hanifaru bay – season July to November, It is not guaranteed that you will see them, we came at beginning of the period and did not see it but according records it is one of world most amazing location where a crowds of mantas are seen sometimes in hundreds.  Check on the Youtube – Hanifaru Bay Manta rays.    Medical care available - we appreciated PCR tests and safety measures to avoid Covid, All staff wearing masks and protective measures were well organized. Transport - Buggies are not necessary but available upon request. Bicycles are not needed the island is small for 10-15 min walk about and short distance is to every spot. We do very appreciate excellent service of our butler Liusha and her supervisor Beyya and Shuhan. Adam ( fishing boat) Munaz (fishing boat) Fishing on traditional boat was thanks to them a great experience. They all doing great job. We will never forget their friendly and proactive support, always with big smile giving a feeling being always welcomed in small island family. We extended our stay 2 times and we would stay even longer. We experienced water villas and beach villas. We could only reccommend watter villas for a nice sunset and sunrise with amazing snorkelling. The house reef is one of best we have seen. Suitable for beginners and a nice cave for experienced scuba divers. There is a choice of beach villas with either open access to the beach or with greenery fence to have full privacy. If you like larger villa do not hesitate to book water residence 401, where you can have it converted enjoy 3 bedrooms if you have bigger family. The water residence is nicely situated on the edge of water villas and sunsets from large tetras and pool are amazing. 1st Beach residence 302 with a nice pool with jaccuzi, a nice beach and trees with partial shadow over the pool, from which you could enjoy access to the sea, it is situated near SPA and near main pool with pool bar – Compass. Where you can enjoy a nice sunset views and great service. Evenings live music and a small cinema with films upon your request.  2nd Beach residence is located 2nd beach residence 301 is located on the other end of the beach with great access to the beach and less shade and more sunny location. The sunrise and sunset views are amazing here. We arrived end of June 2021 and Corona times but stayed over Eid holidays period when resort become fully booked. we did not recognise any difference in quality of the service, all was perfect. We felt like home with best friends or with close family as the staff was really amazing, very positive and eager to fulfill all our wishes.  All personnel is doing a great job here in this small butique island. From management to everybody who makes your experience remember for ever. We would like to mention at least some in addition to our buttler Luisha...our favorite Ocean restaurant team. Sony- artist, creations you will always say wow...so nice Alfaf- our waiter and barista Bella- smily hostess Centey- our waiter Rabeem - restaurant assistant manager always available to help Anoj - wonderful drink maker Morris- the quiet man Ibbe - salad man Gerly- fruit master Buddi- wonderful food Prasad - excellent to make it all great Ilias - excellent chef who made it all so tasty Shawwaf Ocean restaurant manager I would like to appreciate vevery body who is contributing. SPA Aruna & Dyan (spa therapist ) doing great job and helped to relieve from back pain. The house reef was very nice and safe to snorkel, we saw turtles, eagle rays and baby reef sharks. We visited during monsoon season but except a few showers the weather was great We extended our stay 2 times, and we would stay even longer if we can. Due great service and guaranteed privacy of this island is welcomed by celebrities. We have experienced some interesting guests walking around. We enjoyed every day and wish to come back soon.

Being at Milaidhoo honestly felt like being at our own paradise home away from home. From the moment we were welcomed on the island, we felt a sense of comfort and tranquility, akin to being in your own house. Wherever we walked, the staff knew us by name and welcomed us with warm smiles and meaningful conversations. We developed a relationship with each and every staff member that we interacted with, from the bartenders to the spa therapists to the restaurant waiters and even the live musicians that played every night. I would name all the people who made our stay special, but I would honestly need the full roster of the people who worked there during our stay. We had the best food that we have had in any Maldivian resort, the best massages in their incredible spa, and every moment that we had there was special and memorable. They truly went above & beyond to make everything absolutely perfect. We honestly felt that we were the only people in the resort, even though there were plenty of other guests. I never felt so sad leaving a place, not just because I was leaving a beautiful paradise, but because I would miss all the staff members that truly felt like family by the end of the trip. A special shout out to Saji, Danu, Shubh, Ruwan, and Jellica - I miss you all already and would come back just to see you all !
