My girlfriend and I stayed one night at Punta Leona Hotel and Club and found this place to an old, worn down, badly maintained, bygone, drab, unfriendly ripoff. The beach, the view and the surrounding jungle is nice, and if you are looking for a place to just relax, it may be the place. The resort may have been nice...

The day before we left Costa Rica, my friends and I traveled from Cuidad Colon (outside San Jose) to Punta Leona for the day (we did NOT stay at the hotel) to go to the beach and visit the resort. I went a few years ago, so things may have changed since then, but although I enjoyed relaxing on the...

We have been to Costa Rica a dozen times over the past 20 years. We have never been to a nicer place than Punta Leona. With the new highway it is just over a hour from the airport. For those who enjoy Yaco it is just 15 minutes away. Once entering through the secure entrance you feel like you are...

Driving down the 5km entrance road certainly gives you a sense of isolation for this hotel. It is a great shame that when you get there you are greeted by a wide variety of condos and estate areas that set a different tone. Arriving at reception we experienced the first of what turned out to be the standard branding exercise...

The rooms were dismal - stucco huts surrounded by parking lots, no views, no outdoor space to sit. The pool and beach area is quite far away from the rooms, so if you forget something you'll be schlepping back quite a ways. The food was like a bad cafeteria. There aren't enough chairs by the pool and ones they do...

Just came back from a wonderful week at Punta Leona with my teenaged daughter. We chose this resort for the combination of sun, white sandy beaches, wild life and local activities like the ziplining on the resort. The resort is inside the jungle and has two gorgeous white sandy beaches. The closest beach is very quiet and good for swimming,...

I noted that there are mixed reviews for Punta Leona. I just stayed there and realized why. This is a great beach location with lots of activities, but it may not be for everyone. There are several types of rooms and they vary in quality. They have from the very old apartments at Torrimar and the Chalets (clean but obviously...

Our daughter was not quite a year when we drove from San Jose to Punta Leona in our rental car. It is quite secluded, down a very long driveway, but is close to towns once on the road. We found the cabina layout to be best with a little one as we could leave her for naps and bedtime. The...

I recently visited costa rica and was told we should visit the white sand beaches of Punta Leona. My husband and I were dropped off by our hotel and assured by the Punta Leona hotel that they would call us a cab. When it came time for us to leave the beach we asked the same security guard if they...
