It was a pleasure to stay in this place for 4 nights. Place is really clean, owner really friendly and location great (if you have a car). Cute cat and great views of the countryside. Sheeps and cows walking on the road and fields next to the house. Would definetely come back at

We spent one night at Garalapin House on a whistle-stop tour of Skye. The house is a couple of miles outside of Portree - the directions provided are good however I recommend arriving in daylight the first time to help you find your way. The accomodation is spotless and the

Booked here, outside of Portree because Portree full in summer. Not too far, although drive at night down single track road was a bit harrowing. Sam the owner was quite friendly and accommodating. Room was large enough. Problem was that, in our opinion, the room smelled like a

When guests stay with me I do say that it’s no bother if they need me and always ask my guests how they slept to check everything is okay with them. It’s a shame you didn’t highlight the problem during your stay so I could have investigated the cause of the ‘smell’. It’s the first mention I have had of it all year before and after your stay so I’m still puzzled about what could have caused it. Midgies are a common visitor to Skye during the summer months and for some lucky folk they don’t get bothered by them, for others we have to suffer or use one of the many lotions on offer to protect yourself. I should point out that I am not a hotel but a small Bed & Breakfast offering just 2 rooms. I’m glad you found me accommodating though as it’s not usual for me to agree to a 9pm-11pm check in time. Sorry it was not your most comfortable night but hope the rest of your trip was enjoyable and you’re your journey back was safe and sound, best wishes, Sam

We arrived at 4 and Sam was there to welcome us. Our room was comfy and warm. The shower room is a little small for a portly couple but we managed. Sam kept my Pinot Grigio nice and cold in her fridge and gave us lovely cherry cake to go with our cuppa. Breakfast was great,

Thanks for your review, glad you both enjoyed your stay with me. My pleasure to chill your wine, as a fellow Pinot drinker, it tastes better chilled! I'm pleased you found my suggestions helpful. I hope the rest of your trip heading north was as enjoyable. Be lovely to have you stay with me again if you return to Skye, best wishes, Sam

We are a family of four and stayed in the family room. The room was comfortable and had all we needed. We didn't mind the bathroom being separate (we have stayed in several places with this arrangement) and it suited us just fine (it didn't bother us having to walk through the

Many thanks for taking the time to write a review and your kind words. It was a pleasure to meet you and your family. I'm glad to hear you were happy with everything. It's no bother accommodating guests dietary requirements. I hope the rest of your trip went well (and the birthday celebrations) and not too rain filled! Thanks again and yes, please stay again if you come back to Skye, best wishes, Sam
