Welcome to Equator Village spa resort- the alluring tropical beauty of Addu Atoll. Nestled in one of the largest, most interestingly formed and historically rich atolls of Maldives, an exotic adventure begins the moment you start your journey from INIA to Gan International Airport. This is not your typical Maldivian resort; this is an equatorial escape into a land of culture and nature entwined together

The location is why I chose Equator village but the staff attentiveness prior to my arrival was what made me keep the reservation. Abdullah Fahmy is the consummate host. Responsive, detailed, accommodating and friendly. Waleed whom I met at the resort attended to all my needs and was an excellent communicator. Everyone made me feel special and welcome. Food! I’ve visited quite a few 5 star resorts throughout the Maldives and the chefs at the Equator Village rank in my top!! There was always a variety of options and perfectly prepared. Prabhu and Kayam should be commended. Diving with Axel was exceptional as well. He is very professional, knowledgeable of the area and allowed me to not only enjoy the dives but I felt safe with him. I highly recommend Equator Village if traveling to Addu.

Again fabulous place. More subtle changes this time to pool bar which worked and made it the place to meet. Staff excellent as usual cannot do enough for you. More entertainment in evenings but you cannot beat the group who are always excellent. Everyone tries their best so credit to the management staff

Holidays in Equator Village Jan1- Jan8 (2022) were really wonderful. The hotel offers a nice service being declared as 3*. Comparing everything found here I must admit that the hotel conforms a firm 4*level. Room cleaning, facilities and the quality of food is perfect. The staff is very friendly and busy as bees. Mohammed Vahid is a professional leader in management and Gadir is "here, there and everywhere" in his service. Also the tickets from ANEX had been booked in advance, well done. 5 points from 5 for their job. RECOMMENDED from Russian friends.

In mid-August, we went for our first Maldives vacation ever to the Equator Village. Important remark for all travellers that we didn't have on our radar at the time of booking: The Addu Atoll is 500km away from Male so you will need an additional domestic flight. This transfer should be included in most packages but still its worth noting that it adds a couple of hours to your itineary. Good thing: The hotel is located right next to Gan airport which means the complimentary transfer with the hotel shuttle takes only a few minutes - although you could walk in less than 15 minutes ;) As others have written, once in the hotel you hardly notice anything of the airport (only exception during our stay was when a piloot obviously trained take-offs and landings for an hour :) ) - usually there are only a handful of flights with small planes. The friendly rooms are located in 78 bungalows across the area. They might need some refurbishment in the next years bur they featured all necessary amenities including a safe free of charge big enough for a laptop computer and a fridge - we didn't actually use the TV set. The rooms are cleaned every day including new towels both for the bathroom and the beach - something we hadn't expected. The friendly staff also refills your fridge every day with some bottles of water. The staff was very friendly and helpful, at the reception, in the restaurant, the bar, or the beach area. Only the booking of tours could be improved: There are no displays of the different offerings, and the reception sometimes confused dates or told some guests there was no tour at a given time when other guests half an hour later were added. A publicly visibly schedule would be very helpful - after all the hotel offers daily snorkeling boat tours for free, once a week a special tour to the small coral reef of bushy island is also free, and there are cheap dolphin watching and sunset fishing tours (both highly recommended!). With some marketing, I am sure the hotel could sell many more tours - especially as they are good value for money. My wife asked at the reception for some coconuts (something you get offered on most Asian beaches by local "salespeople") and the staff organized them for us for a small prize. When other guests saw us drinking coconut milk and also requested some, the hotel put up a generall offer on the hotel pinboard - that's how marketing should work. :) Important: If you plan to participate in the snorkelling tours (and you should, as this is the highlight of the island!) bring your own fins and mask - otherwise you're not allowed on the boats. You can also rent equipment from the local fiving school, but after one week your own equipment will be cheaper. Besides the tours, there is also a great coral reef right at the hotel, starting just some 60 meters behind the beach. If you are patient, you can see turtles, sharks and even rays. Because of the corals it's advisable to bring bathing or diving shoes as well. The hotel also features a lareg pool which we tried out but hardly used because of the great beaches and ocean. There is also a modern, very well-equipped gym where our son worked out every day. You can borrow bikes for free for a tour across the atoll (a 15km road connects the western islands, taking you to a nice nature park in the north) but a) most bikes needs some work done on their brakes and b) if your are taller that 165cm you will have problems finding a suitable bike. Nevertheless it's a great experience to meet some local people outside the resort. In the evening you can enjoy some drinks at the bar (or outside of it on the beach), and there is also live music on some days. Besides the beaches and ocean and fishes everything we liked most the setup of guests. As the hotel is rather small, it was very easy to get in touch with other people most of which were very like-minded - and quite different from your average Majorca AI tourist. Finally a note on Covid: The hotel took many precautions, including disinfection, wearing masks and regular temperature checks. What is really great: If your home country or airline requires a PCR test for your return, the hotel covers the bill if you stay at least 10 nights - very cool. The tests were conducted by a local doctor from the island who visits the resort on a regular basis, and we got our results the next morning at the reception as a hardcopy.
