This is not an hotel it’s a converted airforce barracks the Staff are very helpful there is no Hospitality management at all in this hotel the food is very poor the rooms are clean and tidy it’s ok for a backpacker passing through or anyone going Scuba diving this is not a place to go on holiday to it maybe be cheaper than any we’re else but do yourself a favour and pay the bit more and go to a 5 star resort I wish me and my wife had they don’t cater for the English there wasn’t many people staying there maybe 50 and they were rather German or Russian I would never recommend this resort as it’s in the middle of nowhere not even 1 star but I can’t fault the staff they tried there best they all need training no glasses and the cheap sprits we’re un drinkable the high light of the holiday is that the best food we had in 10days was the food on our Emirates fight home if I could’ve come home after a day I would have this was supposed to be a holiday of a life time it was the opposite. My advice is if your British or American don’t go to this resort. Stay away

Dear Ptremarco, Thank you for your review. All feedback is important to us and we’re sorry to hear you’ve had such a frustrating experience. As you can hopefully see from our other reviews, your situation is the exception and far from our usual high standards and company’s values. This makes us all the more keen to make sure this gets resolved and doesn’t happen again. We also like to know more from you and we look forward to hear from you. Look forward to serve you again. The village is a fantastic place to unwind and enjoy everything the Maldives has to offer. While the resort has all you need it is also great to be able to visit the rest of the island and attached islands. This way it is also a cultural experience aswell as an idylic getaway. I was there with my Mum and teenaged children. The resort offers plenty to do in the way of organised trips but also there is a ping pong table, snooker, volley ball and a great pool. The snokeling right on the beach there is great and we saw turtles and rays aswell as so many gorgeous fish. The best thing for me about the place is the staff who were incredibly welcoming and helpful. The waiters like Sugath and Gadir were efficient and so friendly. They remembered what drinks we liked, what we ate etc etc. The bar staff, Sam and Sub and team (sorry i forget all the names) were always there to pour a cold drink with a huge smile. The lovely girls on reception including Fazia were very efficient and always smiling. The food was really delicious and there is a vast choice every day. Alli Didi and the other chefs always there to help and tell you what was availible. All run by the amazing Anura da Silva head chef who was great at helping my son who is a coeliac. The rooms were cleaned every day and also checked if wanted in the afternoon. I cannot remeber the pool guy's name . but what a ledgend! Boat trips were superb and the team aboard with the skilled Captain and Zahid so knowledgeable. The dolphin trip was a once in a lifetime experience for us. Thank you so much to the whole team for a holiday that we will always remember. The Jourdains (Tasha, Sam, Meg and Charlie xx)

It was our 4th visit to Maldives and 5th overall resort. So I had a fair idea about what to expect. Let me start with the good things - 1. All inclusive snorkeling - it's free to AI guests daily once. They take you to different places each day and in general the coral quality is better. 2. Once free island hopping trip for AI guests - it's a great way to experience an inhabited island along with a boat lunch and snorkel. 3. Food tastes were great. All the overall varieties were lesser than what I have experience in other resorts but good enough, fresh and tasty.

We enjoyed our stay at Equator Village. The food was good, we liked the variety, the beaches were lovely and the ambince was nice. We would especially like to give thanks to Varun. He made our stay even better and we'll keep him in our memories along with everything else we've experienced. It was nice talking to him and he taught us a lot of new things about life in general. We would gladly come back.

I was to visit this resort in last week of June, but when I was about to board the flight, it was informed by airlines that my flight is cancelled and more over they will not operate flight to Gan for whole week.It ruined my holiday, I mailed the hotel manager Mr Mohamed Waheed immediately. He was extremely helpful and understanding, answering to all my mails about the various possibilities. I am immensely GRATEFUL to him that he replied even at midnight (maldivian time). This resort has been in my bucket list since long and I hope to visit it very soon. Thanks once again to them.

We arrived to Gan Island from Male using the local propeller plane. we had breathtaking views and met the lovely locals, going about their day. We were even presented with a certificate stating we had crossed the Equator. We arrived at Equator Village in a few as the picturesque airport and hotel are literally on the same road. We passed beautiful buildings, once part of the British Military and now our home for the next 3 nights. We were greeted by lovely staff including the manager Mr Waheed. He was a lovely gentleman, well mannered and softly spoken. He put us at ease straight away and we chatted over some lovely juice. We were shown to our spacious room. Yes it is a bit dated and yes it could do with a lick of paint but it was perfect for purpose and keeping in sight, this was a military site, it has retained some of it's heritage. The housekeeping was immaculate and all the staff were so lovely and polite, bearing in mind most of the staff were Maldivians who lived on the island, they were very proud of the resort and the surrounding islands. Each room has a spacious terrace. There was a wooden stand to hang out swimming attire and snorkeling gear. Remember to bring snorkels, the island has the best sites for snorkeling and the calm waters are filled with beautiful coral and fish. This is somethin we missed dearly when we moved onto our second island and snorkeling was difficult with the ocean currents. The excursions were excellent, the trip to Bushy Island and the spinner dolphins excursions were breath taking, definitely an experience to remember. the food was excellent. There were lots of fresh fruit, salads and a range of different cuisines. The staff knew how to take care of us during our stay. We visited some local eateries and got a taste of Maldivian life and walked into Addu - we were not disappointed and enjoyed the slow, tranquil and laid back pace of life. Mr Waheed and his team were brilliant ambassadors of this beautiful island. We really would award this resort a 5 star resort and 7 star service. Nothing wqs too much and Mr Waheed even changed our flight to alter one so we could go on the dolphin excursion. We loved this resort and cannot wait to come back again. Please pass our thanks and gratitude to each and every member of your team. Thank you

The most perfect resort option to disconnect and find quiet time, even during rain. Hotel staff replied to pre-travel email questions within a few hours to relieve anxieties. Representatives meet you upon arrival to Male before a short layover to a domestic flight to Gan. The resort van collects you upon your arrival at Gan International and takes you approx. 1km to the resort where you are greeted by reception staff for paperwork and a welcome drink (juice blend). You are escorted you to your accommodation, of which none of the rooms is no more than a few meters from the beach. Every member of the staff effortlessly provides 7 star luxury perks within this low-key, vintage, and historic accommodation. Start your day on the pier with tea or coffee from your amenities (coffee, tea, sugars, kettle and mini-fridge), followed by a full breakfast featuring omelet/pancakes/french toast and fruits with service from Samah or Sugath. Take a massage from Sheela before heading to swim, snorkel, or dive in the reef areas, graded pool, or hot tub area. Enjoy excellent cocktails from Varun, Sarath, Sammy, and Matthew to keep you hydrated during the day. Take sun on hardwood chairs, beanbags, or lounge chairs and let the staff crack open fresh coconut from the trees above. Enjoy a quiet view of the Atoll waters with the natural life of the resort surrounding you, afternoon tea in the lounge, before showering for dinner, where you may be treated to the sounds of the local band. Spend the night with your feet in the sand (shoes are pointless here except for dining areas) enjoy a drink of your choice listening to the waves and gazing at the stars, before seeing the floral treats left bedside by impeccable housekeeping staff. A hotel offering every luxury and amenity expected of a Maldivian holiday. Quiet, casual glamour and unpretentious, pride-filled service. You feel at home, like part of the family. I enjoyed a local end of Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr holiday walking the small island chain joined by Link Road (old military construction). Hypermarkets provide household, food, and travel supplies. Many "places to visit" listed on Google Maps outside the resort don't exist anymore, so check with hotel staff before your own excursion but do take the offered resort excursion options. Bring sunscreen and hats if you'll travel off the resort during the day. Most guests during my stay were very friendly Germans/Czechs but English language created a barrier for conversing over drinks or excursions which made it almost a (gratefully) silent retreat for me (what I wanted from this experience). The staff was friendly and kept good company. The photos shown in any search or site accurate (to an extent). Keep in mind it is a renovated military area. I did not make it to Hithadoo but the southernmost point of the Maldives does not provide anything of exclusive resort night clubs, loud restaurants, big party areas, or instagrammers/influencers blocking sea views, no dedicated children's area activities and no chef-plated photographic meals, so if you're looking for that you may choose elsewhere. A naturally glorious way to experience the quieter side of Maldives local life. There was no seating directly in the water, as the sea wall comes directly to the resort property but you can take the steps down, drop in the sand area for swimming, in clear waters and move your chair there mindful of the tide. Do take the all-inclusive package as dining options outside the resort are limited. It is also a place (maybe the only?) in the Atoll providing alcohol, if that serves your holiday needs. Exploring the Atoll, it is respectful to the community to cover shoulders and knees even at the beach areas. The hotel provides what is called a "bikini beach". Bring a torch for evenings, No worries being close to the airport, only a few flights a day and they do not interrupt your experience. I was looking for a non-commercialized, non-corporate managed holiday experience to enjoy solace, no-tech, relaxed time. This was more than heavenly and I cannot wait to stay here again. Thank you to all the staff at Equator Village for an impeccable holiday experience.

African and Oriental Travel Company arranged for me to stay in this historical former British military compound that was converted into a wonderful all-inclusive resort that gives you the feel of being in a colonial era. We arrived by boat from Fuvahmalah Island and were picked up by the resort van and brought to the reception. The reception area is located in the former British Sergeants Mess; which also includes the dining area, bar, pool, fitness room, game room and nice beach area. The bungalows are comfortable, the air conditioning works well, the bathroom is large and good hot water in the shower. There is a large drying rack on the small front patio of your room to dry clothes and diving gear. The food is delicious and plentiful for each meal. The bar has numerous alcohol options, as well as non-alcoholic beverages. If you want higher-end alcohol and/or wine it is expensive. The management and staff did an outstanding job on supporting our group and provided extra transportation support so we could do our daily diving. They also provide transportation to the airport.

Equator Village Maldives Gan Island Happy & relaxing place 830280464 Equator Village Resort is where price & quality meets in Maledives. There are reasons why they are not the most expensive and therefore feasible for most traveller groups. Addu atol & place of the resort is very lovely and peacuful. You can reach corals basically stepping into sea, and place is not over crowded with ’crazy tourists’, if you know what I mean :-) However, many previous comments about the condition of accommondation & surroundings are true. The place should be refurbished in many areas. Everything was super clean and safe but has seen best days several years ago such as rooms, tennis court & rackets, beach & pool area furniture (chairs, hammocks). Having said this, some of the things are very small fixes but priceless things for visitors. Such as paying attention to environment by cleaning beach & ocean even some days. There are so many thibgs to do but you don’t know, if you do not get friendly with other people who have already figured everything out by themselves.. The info given for visitors is very limited and mostly non existing. Staff and even the manager will always help you in everything which is good but you have to know what to ask. Small things but the holiday experience could be even more fastastic if Equator wants to help in that. Please provide some info letters what to do, what is happening in Addu, where to go w/maps… Resorts is organising good trips and even daily snorkeling trips (free for all inclusive!) are great. But Addu tour was next to nothing, please plan this trip better for next tourists. We complained about this because sitting 2 hours in the bus, feeding fish in front of the hospital and asking visitors where do you want to stop is not professional tour to explore best things if Addu. We complained and yes the manager understood. Hopefully new Addu miracles - tour will be in place for new visitors :-) Btw. Take the dolphin lover tour plus all snorkeling opportunities. But I really have to thank for the Chef in the house and restaurant manager. Have travelled quite a lot in the past and seen wide spectrum of service and quality coming from kitchen. Honestly, the buffet food was extremely good in the dinner especially, changing menus is very hard job, all flavors with themes etc, There was always 2-3 dishes, you would want try again and again. The service was top standard as well. Our daughter got even ice cream few times spontaniously because she did not love that cake/mousse heaven every lunch & dinner. Bon appetit & cheers. Equator was our holiday home for 13 days and we loved the overall experience. We even met few nice people there, which is always a priviledge of a travelling. I can definitely recommend this resort and maybe someday visit again who knows. Remark: Covid 19 was not a problem either , Equator had all safety issues covered and people were acting very smartly even in those two nights a week when a live band performs (*was a joke). Hopefully Maldives & Equator are supporting Ukraine and human rights visibly as well in all manners? #StopTheWar
