Karma Kandara charms guests with its breathtaking and secluded setting, which, while ideal for picturesque views, is considered by some to be a bit too remote for those seeking nightlife. The hotel's staff are routinely celebrated for their exceptional service, providing friendly and attentive care, with special touches that stand out for guests celebrating occasions. However, visitors have noted that the rooms, despite being spacious and clean, fall short in terms of modern luxury and justify the steep pricing.
The resort's amenities, including the spa and beach club, are highly acclaimed, offering a variety of high-quality experiences with stunning views. The overall atmosphere is considered luxurious and relaxing, though occasional construction noise has been a detractor. Cleanliness across the property is well-regarded, yet an update for the beach bar toilets has been suggested.

Spent the most amazing and memorable time at karma kandara resort. It's beautiful sea side location and week spread out starting quarters are very welcoming and well appointed. After a swift check-in we were allotted the villa with a sea view. The sprawling villa has three bedrooms with their own baths attached. Our villa has private pool as well which made it all the more special as we could swim daily and relax which rejuvenated us so wonderfully. We were treated everyday to a sumptuous free of cost breakfast with lots of vegetarian options. One could have a clear view of the ocean below while having an enjoyable breakfast. The staff at the "de mare" restaurant were very courteous and took care of us for over 10 days. Ms mei Lee as a senior host cared for us and we are grateful. Similarly, Mr dattaram who was deposited from karma goa unit ensured were carried for and we felt good and welcome at the resort. Our villa has so the needed gadgets and a full scale kitchen where we could quickly cook food for a completely private dinner at the villa itself. We also were very happy to spend two days in the newly constructed apartment style accommodation which offered a very beautiful panoramic view of the entire resort right upto the blue dress below
The very convenient free of cost transfers to the seashore and back were very well organized. The exclusive beach area that belongs to Karma kandra resort is worthy of a special mention as they pack a very active eventful itinerary for the members. One could relax on the lounge chairs and enjoy food and drinks. The spa and the very well planned layout of the villas across the resort ensure privacy and transport environment that leads to full rejuvenation. The whole resort is full of nicely created aesthetically beautiful spots with statues and plants and during the nights they are made more attractive by the thoughtful lighting. All in all our stay was most enjoyable at the luxurious resort. We are sure to come back for more.

We had such an amazing experience at Karma Kandara. Prior to arriving, I did raise concerns based on recent reviews however, we had nothing to be worried about… We had booked directly with the hotel to stay in a 1 bed villa & also to renew our vows on the beach. The event team, in particular Putri & Asthini were amazing- they took all the stress away from us! The event team created such a special event for us, one we will never forget & for that we will always be thankful. The staff here go above & beyond to ensure you are comfortable & have everything you need to make your stay special. As I said we had such a positive experience from start to finish, a few bits I think are worth mentioning are below. The beach access, is the only negative point. I understand the hotel is working hard to get the lift working again but in the meantime the access is via steps which are steep. Our 1 bed villa (#60) was perfect for our short stay, we had a small pool & outdoor gazebo & the villa itself had everything we needed. There are monkeys on the resort but if you keep doors locked at all times that helps. We also moved our mini bar food away from where it was (in plain view from the doors to a cupboard) Food, we did not have any bad food & ate at diMare & at the beach. It is more expensive than eating out but as we were only staying a few days & wanted to relax, we decided to stay on the resort. The sunsets at the temple bar are stunning. We did hear lots of other guests complaining about food, which we were surprised with. Breakfast was also good, depending on which package you have, you can order from a menu. We did visit the spa whilst staying, there were no more sea view treatment rooms & if I’m honest it was just ok for the price. Had better treatments for 1/4 of the price whilst in Bali. Overall, based on this experience we would return & would also recommend to others. Thank you to everyone who made our stay so special, we appreciate it!

This was our 2nd stay at Karma Kandara and provided a very relaxing week of lounging around our private pool and the fabulous Karma beach. The stunning resort of private pool villas has magical views from its cliff top location. The staff are very friendly and do everything possible to make your stay a memorable one. The location of Di mare restaurant is simply stunning overlooking the resort pool to the beach. Be prepared to negotiate many steps to enjoy the beach whilst the cable car is out of action and around the resort due to the different levels. Buggys are available and a shuttle bus also to the beach, but we chose to walk for the exercise. There is an excellent selection of food and drinks at the beach but find the restaurant menu a bit limited.

KK Mentari is a new building and the room sizes are generous, we had a one bedroom on an upper level with a room with a view. Unfortunately our room missed a lot of details upon arrival. The rug was filthy covered in stains, the rubbish bin still had the previous guests rubbish in it, hair in the bathrooms, marks and fingerprints all over the doors. It felt like a quick sweep over not a thorough clean. In fact we arrived at 3:30pm but were told we would have to wait an hour for our room to be ready because the previous guests stayed past check out due to a delayed flight. I dont believe this should affect our check in experience, particularly when we arrived 30mins past check in time. There were no cushions on the chairs outside our balcony so we couldn't use them. I called and asked for them and they took 2 reminders and 36 hours for them to be put on the chairs, despite all other balconies having them on.
The water filter system provided is great and avoids the need for bottles which we liked.
We also enjoyed a session of May Thai on the rooftop, we were the only ones so had a private session, the coach Riko is great. Would recommend this but would be nice if activities are included in the stay and not extra cost.
The rest of the place overall is very very tired. It needs a lot of updating. The main restaurant is rusty and the decor very outdated. The one great thing is the view. The bathrooms unfortunately are not up to standard for what is a 5 star resort, both within the restaurants and particularly the one at the beach club.
During our stay our breakfast was meant to be included, it was on the first day and as of the second day they changed it without any warning other than a letter in the room saying that it now be charged and ala carte. Only bread and a plate of fruit would be provided. Coffees had to be paid for.
The beach club furniture is old and grubby. Needs a good clean and update!
KK used to be amazing many many years ago however we wont be returning. Too many other great villas and accommodation around in Bali that have all the attention to detail of a 5 star resort.

Just had five wonderful weeks at Karma Kandara. This is the seventh time we have been to the resort. My wife and I were treated like family and experienced this when we celebrated both our 51st wedding anniversary and my birthday during our stay. The cleaning staff had a "Happy Anniversary" flower arrangement on our bed after arriving back from breakfast, and a birthday cake along with several of the staff singing "Happy Birthday" whilst dining in the restaurant. Each Sunday there is a "meet and greet" where you get to know people from all backgrounds, all with a unique life journey. This experience just doesn't happen in the larger hotels. The staff are beyond doubt the "Jewel in The Crown" at KK with a presence of laughter and happiness, and an eagerness to make your holiday one to remember. A special thanks To Ed and Shaun ( manager and assistant manager) for their ability to mingle with everyone and look after them during their stay. Already looking forward to return to our "Special Place" in the years ahead. John Flynn.

Located right next to the beach, over the cliff and with lovely views, karma kandara is One of the best resorts I have visited. Far from the city and need a car to visit nearby tourist places, bali is notorious for its traffic jams. Takes about 3 hours sometimes to reach hotel from airport / city We were given a villa, with 3 bedrooms. The villa was huge, clean and big hall with studio kitchen. We had a private pool with pool benches and a dining table outside. Luxury at its best. There are two restaurants, serving a-la carte and buffet breakfast. The restaurant overlooks the beach and it is wonderful.. it is open, airy and can feel the sea breeze. I thank karma for choosing this wonderful location. Very few choices for vegetarians, but they will provide one or two dishes like puri bhaji, parota, rice etc upon request. They arrange transport to the beach just below. There are stairs, but very difficult to climb up. The beach shack is lovely, close to the water, rocky cliff and sand, serving drinks and snacks. The beach closes at 10PM and the last bus is at 9.45 PM. Spa overlooks the beach and we took up two packages. Bit costly, but was worth, calming.
Housekeeping was good, daily clean up and neat. All rooms had attached bathrooms with towels and soaps. Only problem is that the resort is far from the sightseeing places, nothing much outside the gates, isolated really, not even local shops. But, best place to relax and enjoy the huge resort. Will love to stay again.

We had a wonderful and restful week in a 3 bedroom villa at Karma Kandara. The resort is fantastic and has a number of facilities that cater for all groups. Our villa was big and consisted of 3 bedrooms, each with their own ensuite, a large sitting area, full kitchen, extra toilet and our own infinity pool with decking around it as well as a gazebo.
We took advantage of Karma's private Beach Club on a number of occasions and found the setting to be most picturesque and peaceful - the beach alcove here is far better than the other beach clubs further along the coast. The food and drink selection is more than adequate and reasonably priced for a high end resort and the staff are very attentive.
We also indulged in their special dinner night at di Mare restaurant, which consisted of a 5 course degustation that was paired with wine. To say the food was sensational would be an understatement as it was beautifully presented and the tastes were truly divine - very much worth the cost. The view over the infinity pool towards another stunning sunset capped off a perfect evening.
Thank you Karma for a wonderful and memorable stay.

Karma Kandara is my favourite Karma property and the one I have had the most stays at. It is a tranquil setting with each villa beautifully designed and the plunge pool a real highlight. I make my week at Kandara like a health retreat each year and train at the gym, do the boxing and yoga classes, and the new ice bath in the spa makes a great addition to the infrared sauna and jacuzzi.
The private beach club at the bottom of the stairs is my favourite place to spend the day relaxing after the morning training session. The lifeguards are very friendly and help you with the water sports and I always enjoy a paddle in the kayak or on the stand up boards.
Karma beach club always has great music, with intentional Djs, movies on Tuesday night on the big screen and a great theme night every week. The service is excellent and you can get a healthy snack or smoothie at the beach or a lovely seafood meal from the Club 22 restaurant. The staff are always friendly and offer suggestions for other activities and local restaurants to try. But my favourite meal is always at their award winning restaurant Di Mare up overlooking the main pool with wonderful ocean views. We have never had a disappointing meal there.
The highlight of my recent trip to Kandara in July was being apart of the Mt Batur sunrise experience and the E bike tours. These activities run my the manager Ed King were thoroughly enjoyable and I can’t wait to experience them again next time. I highly recommend making the most of the activities whilst you stay at any of the Karma properties as they really are well thought out and make your holiday that little bit more special as you get to see the heart of the country you are visiting and not just snooze through it on another beach.
I can’t wait to visit Karma Kandara again! 🌺

The location of the villa is very beautiful on the beach, the private villa is also spacious with a private pool, suitable for holidays with family. It's just a shame that the villa and the furniture look very old, as well as the bathroom looks old and poorly maintained. Access to the beach is very difficult because the hilltram has not been operating for several months, we as guests were not informed beforehand that the hilltram to the beach was not working. So access to the beach is very troublesome because you have to go up and down very high stairs or have to use a shuttle bus. Strangely, even though it was said that there was repair work on the hilltram, during our stay there did not appear to be any technicians working to carry out repairs.
The quality of the breakfast is below standard, the fried rice served probably won't pass Uncle Roger's test. It's a bit disappointing, because fried rice is a typical Indonesian food. Apart from that, the other breakfast menu options (order limited to just 1 main menu) do not show 5 star menu quality.
For parents staying here it will be very difficult to walk up and down, also for transportation by buggy car you have to queue quite a long time (20-30 minutes). The staff as a whole were very helpful and friendly, except for the staff at Restaurant Del Mare who were less friendly, perhaps because the weather conditions in Bali when we visited were very hot.

This is not a luxury accommodation. It may have been 20 years ago, but definitely is not anymore. The rooms are very outdated and the property is missing luxury touches, but charges luxury prices. For example, the doors don’t go to the floor so we had a gecko come into our villa from under a door. We were provided a large water container while there, but no water bottles or containers for our water during our stay.
The staff is generally kind, but they’re overworked and seem quite stressed. The hotel is run for large tour groups so it felt very big box and cheap.
The gym is small (fits 1, maybe 2 people in it at the same time). The beach is nice, however it’s not private. They allow outside guests (who like to drink and party) to come to the property and they’re quite rowdy.
The food on the property is absolutely terrible and overpriced. They serve Skippy peanut butter at breakfast, instead of local fresh food which is one of the best parts of being in Bali!
Don’t stay here - you can stay somewhere much nicer, newer, for the same price.
