We looked for accommodation near to Col de Bavella but wanted something more authentic and special than the coastal hotels had to offer. This was perfect! What a find! Although it was maybe about 30 minutes from the Col de Bavella, we loved the fact that the roads were quieter and the villages didn't seem packed with tourists in beach wear. The next morning we were able drive towards Propriano within an hour on beautiful quiet roads passing through stunning scenery. The host was so kind and hospitable even serving a welcoming aperatief. The guest house is beautifully decorated with an amazing view across a huge valley and mountain. Everything is spotlessly clean. It is a very quiet neighbourhood and so we slept well, but were woken up in the morning with the most heavenly smell of croissants and baking coming from the extremely quiet kitchen. An excellent breakfast followed. Good parking was on the property. I highly recommend Villa Cardellini.…
We stayed at this quaint village for a night...although we had a bit of trouble initially in finding this place, the hospitality of the hosts more than made up for it. Even though they couldnt communicate in English, they were very courteous and helped us around the house and town. The place is perfect and beautiful, and has all the amenities you will need for a stay!
We stopped here and had a very comfortable two nights stay, whilst taking a break from walking the Mare au Mare sud. This is a tranquil, peaceful spot with amazing views and all modern facilities. Just what was needed to recharged our batteries ready for the remaining journey ! Thank you.
Add the very latest in French kitchenware, bathroomware and aluminium joinery to a very traditional Corsican stone building and you have something quite out of the ordinary. Our host is a man with a vision and courage to implement. His father, a traditional stone mason in his family home has helped the son wrought a remarkable transformation in this small otherwise typical Corsican village. Sitting at the long narrow table in the communal lounge dining area the views across the countryside are remarkable. Our group of six have brought our own "picnic" dinner. Our host joins us and provides a couple of bottles of excellent local wine plus a lemon cake especially baked by his wife for the occasion. The massive latest TV brings the world news for all to watch,- those that speak French at least can follow it. The bed is large and comfortable with not a sound to disturb the nights sleep. Breakfast next morning is set out by the host before most are awake but is typically French and adequate. The ultra modern dishwasher has made short work of the previous nights dishes. The coffee machine dispenses, the immense fridge keeps stocks fresh. Our host has little English but his warmth and open personality make all nationalities feel welcome. The capital input into this small business has been huge. I hope the patronage is enough to sustain the attempt to do something different on a grand scale.…
