We have been here a couple of times now, the latest was for a Birthday on New Years day. We had a lovely table in the main restaurant, food was very good and plentiful. The staff are friendly and service efficient. Lovely surroundings and pleasant atmosphere. A good all round pub and well recommended.

Local recommendation for family Boxing Day lunch so we decided to'risk' it. The bar was very lively and the dining room full of character (well-behaved dogs allowed). Wide choice of food available, all reasonably priced. Everything we chose, from roast dinner, through fish dishes to vegetarian was excellent, well-cooked and HOT! Staff were friendly, efficient and attentive. Our only quibble...

Friday night at the Lion Perhaps a bit of scoff 'Not likely' says the barman The chef's upped and gone off.... And no, it's not the first time Let down when it's time to eat Kept with our hunger pangs And cast out in the street... - actually we then went to the Bell and Crown a mile down the...

We had agreed to meet some friends emigrating the next day for a farewell drink and bite to eat. We arrived at 1900. Met our friends possibly 30 minutes later and asked for a menu to be told they were swamped with people and a "Huge" group were arriving. Food was no longer available. Drama is strong here. Our friends...

We came upon this pub more or less by chance after a day out at Stourhead. Things didn't get off to a great start when two out of three of us stumbled down the almost invisible steps just inside the door from the car park. When we then found, having arrived at 5, they didn't serve food until 6 we...

Lovely old pub with log fire. Bags of atmosphere in a great setting which has not been spoiled. Staff friendly and made us feel really welcome. We had the most delicious homemade pork pies washed down with sensibly priced wine. There is a beautiful garden which would be lovely to sit in during the summer. Will definitely be back to...

As we were visiting Stourhead it seemed a good idea to book lunch at the White Lion. We were greeted by the friendly staff and shown into the restaurant. It was good to be able to share a fish platter between us whch was very tasty. The portions are on the large size. My husband ordered the special which was...

We visited for 3 nights whilst visiting family. The room was spotless and a good size for us as we were literally just sleeping there. No where to hang clothes, but we like to live from a suitcase anyway so suited us. Loads of character in the whole place. Breakfast was really good, a little bit different with ciabatta toast....
