Detailed Reviews
Hotel is simple and has thin walls and doors. Reception phone can be heard clearly in room and every noise. Also its cheap, so it was expected.
What I didnt like was mainly two things:
- The fridge in the room makes a lot of noice. I got earplugs after two nights, and managed to sleep better. Please bring with you.
- The Internet was very poor. Not particularly slow, but sometimes (often) goes completely offline and disappears.

I've been staying at Patra Mansion for a little over a month, and I love this place. Before coming to Patra Mansion, I had been living at a family guesthouse on the other side of town. That room had air-con (which my new room doesn't) but I was tired of being woken up at any time of the day or night by a pesky rooster 30 feet outside my (thin) windows. Now, the roosters are only a distant memory (and, very occasionally, a distant sound) and I can sleep in peace. The best aspects of my room at Patra compared to my previous place are these. First, it's quiet. I'm an English teacher and when I get home from school I want a place where I can relax. I've got it! Second, that swimming pool is so inviting on a hot day, which is, well, most days here in Thailand. There are beach chairs to relax in under the palm trees, as well as several showers and toilets. Third, I love the spacious balcony outside my room. It's about 4 feet by 13, and many evenings I will sit out there and enjoy the cool breeze while reading or watching the world go by. There are a lot of trees and greenery at Patra, and in the mornings a variety of birds can be heard singing. There is a guard on the property, as well as many westerners (mostly English teachers or retirees), so it's a very safe environment. Also, having free maid service is a huge bonus. No more washing my own sheets, and I can count on a clean room whenever I ask for it (usually once a week). Lastly, about the room itself, there is LOTS of storage area, a huge advantage over my last place. Whoever designed the rooms obviously put a lot of thought into the layout, and things just work. The bathroom contains a huge counter and hot shower and is plenty spacious. The entry way contins a closet and lots of shelves for storage, as well as a medium sized fridge. In the main room, in addition to the king-size bed, there is a tv, an all-in-one table/chair combination, a built-in desk, and several night stands. With plenty of cubbies to store miscellaneous items, it's quite easy to stay organized and keep my room in order. If I could find something to gripe about, it would be the hard bed. I don't quite understand why, with all the foreigners around, they can't provide more comfortable beds. I started using my thermarest camp mat to provide a bit more cushion, and now I've upgraded to a mattress topper, which works fine. But all in all, I feel like I've found paradise, and at only 5,000 baht a month for a fan room, I feel it's an incredible bargain. The staff have been very friendly (the few times I've interacted with them), and they seem eager to work with guests rather than trying to wring the extra few baht from them. I highly recommend this place, especially if you're looking for a new home in Phuket!

I stayed at Patra Mansion for 3 weeks while doing a CELTA training course in Phuket. I was surprised when I arrived: no towels, no toilet paper. I had to sign a contract to pay for water and electricity, which were charged at high rates.
The rooms were roomy and quiet, with a refrigerator and balcony. The bed was large and hard...in a good way. There are no shops, restaurants very close - at least a 5 minute walk to get a bottle of water, which can be a lot in the heat. There is a great swimming pool which is mostly unused. I often had it to myself. The staff is helpful. Laundry can be sent out for 50 baht per kilo and seemed to take days to get back.
Mainly my problem with Patra Mansion had to do with location. It was a little far from town - at least a 15 minute walk or a 100 baht motorbike taxi ride. It is close to the public bus stop, so getting to the beaches wasn't a problem. I had planned to stay for 4 weeks, but left after 3 to move closer into town. Also, internet was 600 baht for unlimited access. When most hotels offer it free, this is an added expense.

We stayed here for 3 nights. The place has old fashioned feel to it, with dark wardrobes, leather sofa and big bath in the room. The room itself was spotlessly clean, I swear they got the most sterile and snow white bedsheets I've seen in Thailand. Pool area was spacious and nice, although pool itself is next to the motorbike parking which feels a bit weird. The hotel surrounding area itself is very quiet and safe. Short walk to the city, but we rented a motorbike from hotel anyway. The bike itself was not so good, so better rent somewhere in the center of the Phuket town.

Anyone looking for long term accommodation should look on. Its overpriced. They want a contract with minimum 3 months and the prices do NOT include wifi, electric, or water. Location is ok but not great.

The location is difficult to find and in a part of Phuket with traffic congestion on every nearby roads. A lot of noise around the pool area from early afternoon to early morning with people partying and management seems to not care if the guest is two legged or four legged.

OK place to stay. Lots of negatives:
We were shouted at by a member of reception staff when we politely asked her not to block our motorbikes in when she parked as we needed to leave.
My friend was overcharged 3,000 baht for electricity used, she complained and eventually was charged the correct price (no apology!) we have heard that other guests have had the same problem with overcharging.
Another friend came home late to find that her boyfriend was still out and she could not access her room. She asked the 24-hour reception to let her in and was told she would have to pay 100 baht to be let into her room. She ended up sleeping in a broom cupboard until her boyfriend arrived back.
The wifi barely works, especially in the second building.
Overall, the place is basic, the pool is fine and the friendly residents are very welcoming. A good base for exploring Phuket Town if you can put up with the grumpy staff, overcharging and general rudeness from some reception staff.

Good location. Everything was close to the hotel. Old fashioned, but nothing bad. Pool open to 10pm. They rented us weak scooter, we barely drove up to the big Buddha. Pool and room was clean and nice.

"If you choose the smaller building to the left (not where the office is), there is excellent ventilation as there is only one row of rooms. In the evening, you can open the main door and the door to the patio and a wonderful breeze will blow through. This, combined with the fan, often makes the air-con unnecessary (in my opinion)."Read full review
